I've found that most of the original stuff out there is either well drawn/animated but shittily written or just shittily drawn AND written so I typically only look at fan art or fan fiction, but every once in a blue moon, I'll come across something actually good that's OC.
Where OVA's/series are concerned, I've only ever found five that are actually explicit and two of them are shota so I avoid them like the plague (Boku no Pico and Shōnen Maid), as everything else I've found is either implied or very softcore even if it's good. The three in question are Sensitive Pornograph, Legend of the Blue Wolves and Hyperventilation. SP is cute overall and pretty good, although the second half is dub-con which isn't really my thing, but that's more of a personal preference than anything else. LotBW is like Gundam but with yaoi. There are some pretty dark elements and the ending is fairly depressing considering one of the only two people you actually care about dies but if you ignore that, it's a decent OVA. I just found Hyperventilation within the last few days and wow, for just a 15-minute series of six OVA's all supposedly finished by just one animator, it was really well done. The animation is actually Korean rather than Japanese and the style kind of reminded me a lot of DEVILMAN crybaby in that there's no real shading and how the characters were designed and moved, but even if that's a turn-off for you, the story is quite nice and is done in an interestingly nonlinear way. Unfortunately though, the only subs for it out there that I've been able to find are in Russian so I have no idea what the hell anyone's saying.
As for manga, there are just two I'd recommend: Kanna Kii's The Stranger by the Beach / The Stranger by the Sea and Enzou's Mother's Spirit. The two Kanna Kii stories are pretty cute and fun, although the writing is spotty at times and the first time the two main characters have sex left a bad taste in my mouth from how it happened, but it's very well drawn. Mother's Spirit is great all around. The story is very original, the humor and bit of drama within is all well balanced, none of the writing feels forced or awkward, the illustration is very detailed and the two main characters' relationship that slowly develops throughout the manga is very touching. Another huge plus for this one is that the protagonist isn't a stereotypically shy uke in either his appearance or his mannerisms (for the most part, anyway) and while he's definitely good looking, it's in a natural masculine way, which was a much appreciated change from the norm for me. It's just a very cozy, wholesome, heartwarming read. My only complaint was that it was too damn short.
And for VN's, I've only played Lamento: Beyond the Void and DRAMAtical Murder so far. Lamento is very long and the writing isn't consistently good due to it being pretty repetitive at times along with flat-out cliche, but there are some pretty good plot twists, lots of adventure, hotter-than-hell sex scenes and awesome music so if you like gay catboys with swords and a decent hero's journey type story, you'll probably enjoy this. It's VERY dark throughout though so prepare your feels. I've actually only just started DMMD so I can't say too much about it but so far, it's a lot like Lamento in terms of pacing and the design, although they're both Nitro+Chiral games so I suppose that that's just to be expected. I like the cyberpunk setting, the lore is pretty interesting and there are definitely some pretty memorable characters.
