The first half was weak. Aside from the setup feeling worn out (I think this is the third time) the misunderstanding didn't really make much sense. Part of that is going to be due to the language issue, since masculine and feminine tics in Japanese are difficult-to-impossible to convey even for a skilled translator (which this show tended to lack), but I think even without that it would have been a stretch. The invention also had nothing to do with the joke.
It's a shame Tanaka's closing remark was wasted on a sub-par segment.

This was a great anime just because of the work Ueno's/Anna's/Mirei's VA did. The active vectoring twintails really stand out in animated form. Hopefully the manga translators do not stop entirely just because this aired. I might pick up on-going manga again because of Ueno.

I think anime airing encourages scanlations of the manga in the usual case. More common is scanlators stopping at the point that the anime ends, as there is less interest then.
