KyoAni's been consistently releasing garbage, Gainax isn't doing shit, SHAFT's the only studio out of those three that's actually releasing things that don't suck sometimes. Nomad also isn't releasing anything.

Pretty much agree on the only good thing about them nowadays is being their production values, that stands out from anything else (even if it can be a bit too filtered for my taste), but sadly they have turned too much into a stereotypical "strong womyn are in charge here and we do whatever we want to" kind of studio.

Well, the better looking Rozen Maiden seasons were produced by Nomad. I can't say much else.

Kyoto Animation has always been dominated by women. In fact, in the very beginning, in the middle eighties or so, it was exclusively women (bored housewives of animators) doing in-between work or coloring cels for proper animation studios, if I recall correctly. Ever since they got rid of Yamakan though, they've been steadily going downhill. Hyouka and Nichijou were the last two genuinely good anime they've made.

I think there was a certain time frame when most everyone would have been eager to say Doga Kobo (around the time they produced Yuru Yuri and Love Lab), but sadly their shows have been consistently less than impressive for at least four years now.

The only thing I liked from them after Chuuni's first season (please don't even mention the "steepest fall between seasons" abomination that is Chuuni Ren) is Hibike.

Everything else I genuinely consider garbage, even Maid Dragon, not just because they cut the loli service, but they really added extra cowtit and shota antics, needless drama subplot, it never went anywhere despite that, and at heart it is borderline hentai garbage that is forced into wholesome values.

And I couldn't even finish Phantom or Violet, and obviously didn't watch their outright fujoshit shows.

Tamako Market was great, the one I really didn't like was KNK. I avoid the fujoshit shows but most of their other recent works range from decent to great. I really liked the Chuu2 movie and all of Euphonium in particular out of their recent works.

Studio 3hz is pretty legendary. I also very much like Kinema Citrus and have been very satisfied with their production since Barakamon. Princess Principal was good, but the conclusion was seriously rushed and could have really done for a 24 episode season.
