https://archive.is/Es5cF
>According to this year’s cover of the 24th issue of Hana to Yume magazine, a new anime is on the way for the Fruits Basket manga. The announcement features the text “Zenpen” which translates to “the entire story.” The magazine is set to ship on November 20.
>Fruits Basket was written by Natsuki Takaya from 1998 to 2006 and published in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine. It is currently licensed for release in North America by Yen Press. Yen Press re-released the manga with updated translations in 2016. The story is described by Yen Press as follows:
>After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, plucky high schooler Tohru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out…into a tent! Unfortunately for her, she pitches her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Sohma clan, and it isn’t long before the owners discover her secret. But, as Tohru quickly finds out when the family offers to take her in, the Sohmas have a secret of their own–when touched by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac!
>The manga previously inspired a 26-episode anime adaptation by Studio DEEN in 2001. This anime is licensed for release in North America by Funimation.

No.878717
Why do the news threads always manage to get semi-derailed? Anyway the one thing I'm not sure about right now is if a cuckchan exodus is going to happen. They have been taking up the ass for four years straight now so even if one does happen, I don't expect it to occur until the site is split in two. Even then it comes down to how many of the people that still use the site would continue using imageboards instead of whatever hell they were originally from like KYM or reddit.
No.878719
>>878717
I wouldn't say it's considered derailment if Anons are discussing the news being posted in the news thread. Unfortunately, this isn't really /a/-related.
I doubt we'll see an exodus on the scale we're used to. This isn't nearly as big of an issue as the whole gamergate debacle was, so it won't stir nearly as many people enough to permanently migrate. Halfchan now is mostly home to normalfags on the big boards and actual niche hobby enthusiasts on the smaller ones, so they're not even the kind of people who'd be motivated to abandon the site for something like this in the first place. Half/a/ in particular is just fast-paced, low effort shitposting and normalfaggotry, so they won't find a board like /a/ appealing. A few might come by out of curiosity more than anything and quickly find themselves on the receiving end of a meido's banhammer most likely.
No.878723
I think a warning should be put up that the bunker link will be taken down in a week, and then wait a few months to put it back. I will be honest, I am mostly a lurker here, but I have respect for your board's autonomy and moderation. If a flood does occur, moderating may get overwhelming. Of course, it may not, but either way, why would the safe option not be desirable? You could take the link down temporarily, if quality declines sharply, exterminatus ban everyone in sight the board, and eventually people will stop coming at all. Then the board can re-emerge from the bunker.

No.878856
>>878724
Gomen. I don't mean to doubt the meidos, but I can't help but think they are only human. In a worst-case scenario there may be hundreds of new people visiting, that they may infect the bunker as well, and that it may affect overall post and thread quality even if the meidos remained awake 24/7, with good threads being slid and whatnot. This is not my home board, so my opinion should count for very little, but I do see this board as a hidden gem, and I would hate to see it in disarray. Every other board is already a bit chaotic, so there is not as much to be lost, or much that can not be mitigated there by the resident swarms of angry users. At any rate, best of luck to us all.

They're splitting the entire site in half between 4chan and something new called 4channel. If I remember right all of the NSFW (including /pol/ and /r9k) boards will stay part of 4chan and all of the work-safe boards will be moved to 4channel so Hiro can milk it for money and make it advertiser-friendly
No.879422

You do have good concern Anon, the BnHA thread here recently had a cuckhan shitposter get rustled, but even since then the thread has gone from years of relatively neutral discussion to nonstop shitting on it's own topic using the usual cuckchan buzzwords. It's not illogical to think this might be what we're in for if the meidos line of defence crumbles.
>>879088
Seems fishy. Every move on cuckchan has been followed by alterior motives, and we all know Hiro's up to something.
If Jewtube got boycotted over PewDiePie alone saying nigger on Twitch before apologising, then I struggle to believe that any advertisers would ever want to advertise on anything with the raw stigma and history of cuckchan, let alone it's current underage unfiltered userbase or intense dislike from tumblr/reddit that could lead to a sitewar advertiser attack >inb4 it was a powerplay from Google so they could restructure advertising to increase profits, I know, but I'm just trying to make a known example for a point, there are other examples.
If he wants shekels, he could set up an independent crowdfund and get 15-25k a month minimum from the sheep that infest the traffic boards. There's something else to this, and my spidey-senses of conspiratorial cynacism are making me think he's handing moderation on the 4chan domain fully to burger feds, like what happened to /b/.
Shame too, I lurk 4po semi-regularly; I'll have to pause for a while to see what this shitcan of a decision truly entails. I just wanted to cut paper, why can't people leave me alone

This isn't for the money, or the advertiser money at the very least. Any ancientfags will remember that 4channel already existed for the exact same purpose, and it didn't fucking work. Whatever Hiroshima has going on in the background must be a pretty fucking profitable potential venture, which makes me put on my conspiracy hat and say there is something very big involved.
The US government is known to lurk cuckchan, and the split being the way it is very much makes me think they could be involved again. The 'advertiser' shtick just seems to be a false front to lead newfags off his scent.

We have to work with the fact Hiroshima is not a complete fuckwit. He knows exactly what he's doing, he's been doing this for years, so nothing is really out of the question as long as it has a logical reason.
If I was to once again put on my thinking hat again, I'd say this plan strikes 2-3 birds with one stone;
-First of all, it serves as a front and possibly an actual attempt at appeasing advertisers; bringing in pennies on top of a reasonable alibi to the average newfag. This could also be a tangible push to remove their 18+ mark off some of the clear underage boards such as 4v, in turn requiring less moderation as they effectively let it go to the shitter.
-Secondly, if I wanted to cordon off the NSFW boards without attracting attention I wouldn't attack them directly. Note how the NSFW links apparently back to the SFW, but not vice versa? By keeping the domain name the same for the questionable boards, this would keep those out of the loop or those who don't care as much docile to what is happening. I can't imagine the cesspit that 4pol has become at this point, so if they saw anything shifty it'd be an instant riot over there. By keeping it the same, it goes from a constant alarm bell for returning retards to their flavour of the week bitch. By isolating these NSFW boards, I would then be able to play around a bit more with what I can do to them leading into....
-Finally for my personal conspiracy, if they wanted to hand the NSFW boards over to an entity, there would be less eyes on the previous domain than the new domain for suspicion. All the CSI larping faggots on cuckchan would be staring at the bright flashing light of the cuckchannel domain with nothing to look for, but not keeping an eye on the domain they assume is safe-cuckchan. Then Hiroshima hands over all questionable boards for pennies and makes big moneys as the sheep continue grazing undeterred and unalarmed. Going off pic related (which I think appears more than credible in lining up coincidence and circumstance with a valid explanation) if it's been done on a micro scale on old 4b, it's not illogical for it to be applied on a larger scale considering the current climate online and in burger politics at the moment. Not sure if they'd really care about 4pornboards or s4s, but who knows maybe the CIA want to put their anime girl reaction folder (which apparently they do have) to use
As much as I've heard the idea thrown around on my daily lurk this is fucking big news apparently, I can't escape it I don't think this is a ploy to delete 4pol or 49k after the supposed takedowns after shootings. They make him too much money, and Hiroshima doesn't really appear to care about what the users of his site actually want or do.
Irregardless, I don't want to talk much more about the topic. If we get an influx of newfags, then so be it. we'll just have to deal with them appropriately; but for now this discussion is starting to get offtopic. I'll sage now for politeness and maybe respond if necessary, but for now lets just dig the hatchet and get one with the usual program.

Hopefully the meidos can repel the ones that won't, and in a best case scenario we get an infusion of new blood with the bad apples quickly driven away, and only people who conform to the rules and general yukkuri tenor of the board. In a worst case scenario we get overrun and the board owner gives up /a/ and creates a new board and we all go there. Or else just use the bunker. I doubt it will come to that though.
>>878856
It could get 40k-tier pretty fast with the armies of chaos storming the board. The head meido can always deputize new volunteers to help handle a big influx of new users. (Note to Head Meido, now is the time to do that, not when the board is already being overrun with half-chan refugees.)

The Florida highways aren't that bad. But I've actually been to this one before, although it was many years ago. It was super stuffy since the area where it's held is meant to be a stadium for hockey, and the main area is on the floor of the stadium, so you get stuck down there with a bunch of fat tumblrites and normalfags who go to see their favorite hollywood actors. If I do end up taking the drive down there I'll try to get an interview, but It might not be worth it. While there is the possibility that it may have gotten better, I highly doubt the type of people attending this event have changed in the slightest, and that's the main problem I want to avoid at these types of events. It's a shame as well, since it would be cool to meet Ultraman and have an interview or something with him.

I've seen one nip artist mention it, but not many of them use tumblr and a lot of the ones that do typically also post all their stuff on pixiv and/or twitter. It's hardly a great loss to the world, especially since tumblr fucked image quality on upload.

Ironically from what I can tell there is some sort of push from the western artists to go to newgrounds of all places once the ban hits. Deviantart seems to be the most unlikely canidate because even though it is home to all kinds of garbage fetishes, regular lewd content is banned. I'm not sure if they will go to pixiv though, but I'd say there seems to be a low chance for it as well. In regards to the few worthwhile nip artists, it seems that they will be going on twitter full time now like how most artists did after a controversy with pixiv a while back. Either way I'm just glad that this means the end of the cultural relevance of tumblr, and hopefully the exodus doesn't hit everything too hard. Sage because this is more related to western art than it is nip art.

The morality problem around loli is posed by bored, self-righteous leftists. The only reason companies like Sony actually take action is because they think there's money to be made from pandering to this very loud group masquerading as a very large group. All that needs to happen is for them to start losing sales to a competitor who is providing something they aren't and they will start changing their tune. Now that's an uphill battle considering the kind of profile companies like Sony have, but if we want to be part of the solution that means actually boycotting companies who side with morons and actually financially supporting the ones which don't. I know that historically people have a really hard time following through on their outrage with actions that actually have an effect.

Samurai 8 PV, it's a new manga by Kishimoto. And is going to start this year in WSJ.
It's a sci-fi manga drawn by Akira Okubo, Kishimoto is in charage of the original work. I assume this means that Kishimoto is doing story, character design, the story board etc. But the actual drawing is done by Okubo.
Okubo is a former assistant of Kishimoto.
Despite how cancerous Naruto's fanbase is, and despite how bad it got during its last half.
I still am looking forward to Samurai 8. Sci-fi sadly became a rarity in modern otaku media, and this has a chance to popularize the genre again.

While I really like Black Lagoon, I don't think it ever needs to be "finished". Unlike Berserk it isn't really a story with an end goal. I'm not waiting for an epic final battle between Revy and the random cop that raped her as a kid. The "chinese hacker girl" story should just play out like any other arc before it, we get a bit more character development or backstory, the jobs over and they are ready for new adventures.

I don’t know, this seems like tatemae, lip service, and yuri baiting all in one response. The Japanese know their audience better than the west does; they’re culturally especialized in hypocrisy but now they have to deal with a global market. The female audience doesn’t care about ‘agency’, they like women to be trophies because the damsel in distress who gets saved by the charming prince is much more of female wish-fulfilment fantasy than a male power fantasy. Male audiences are perfectly fine with the girls being stronger, more useful, competent, etc. than the men – it’s women who take issue with that and complain about the male protagonists being useless, etc.

Not sure how to interpret Nakatani's statements. The article linked here makes it sound like she was basically saying he doesn't need to sanitize it because they're already fine, while the ANN summary has her actively suggesting those parts should be removed. It's a shame if she's paying attention to SJWs. SAO being stupid I don't care about aside from the potential influence on the rest of the industry, but I really enjoy Nakatani's work.

I watched it last night. It was a long movie. Felt long for the last half hour at least. They could have ended it before that if they hadn't added a time skip at the end in order to plug in the title of the movie in a cheesy pointless scene.
My two normalfag friends really enjoyed it, one said the cinematography was really good and the other one liked the special effects. All three of us wished they had given us more flashbacks from before The Fall though; those scenes were much more interesting than dopey romance between two kids who can't act or deliver lines.
I also felt that the combat, while good, was definitely less brutal than the manga and that they added a lot of motion blur which made the scenes somewhat distracting/hard to follow when the action got fast. Combine that with the slo-mo's and you've got a slightly nauseating ride of action.
It was entertaining enough though, though it might just be because I like cybernetic girls and think those steel buns or black leather/latex covered bodies are attractive. I'd rate it a 5/10.
Oh and yes. Sequel bait it is, expect another movie at some point if this one does well in the box office.

Saw it today, 5/10 sounds about right. The visuals are great and I'll always appreciate a movie that tries to nail down the "futuristic shanty-town" aesthetic. All of the cyborgs are well designed and look very cool. There's a neat trick the director plays where the first hour or so is very subdued and is about Alita's development with her being the only cyborg on screen, then it makes a hard swap into a fast-paced action movie once other cyborgs start appearing. The plot is surprisingly true to the source material, at least for a Hollywood anime movie (still several notable changes), but giving so much screen time to the romantic plot was its downfall.
It's cheesy as FUCK, complete with dramatic overacting and emotional yelling, and at one point Alita legit says "Hi-YAH!" when doing a karate kick. The most violent parts aren't even shown (you see character's reactions rather than the action). The end is sequel-bait - Nova in the movie is a godlike figure living in Tiphares and is the primary antagonist, he has a dramatic stare-down with Alita looking up at him from the Scrapyard with the implication that she's coming for him and then it cuts to black.
Purely speaking as a sci-fi action movie, it's probably one of the better ones but will be quickly forgotten as they usually are. Your enjoyment may or may not be based on how much you want to fuck Alita.
You get over the eyes quickly, as she's by far the most normal looking cyborg in the movie.

Newer choices had more consideration put into the elimination of white elephants. Tokyo 2020 was won thanks to a bribe, so it's not surprising that a ton of venues are being renovated or built to handle it. (Not to say that the later picks were totally independent from backroom deals and shady politics, but at least there's some thought put into the selection.) By comparison, all the venues for LA 2028 except for one are already in use or are temporary. Even Paris (2024) looks more prepared than Tokyo.

>This has been the meme for a while
When I was in Japan there were signs all over Tokyo telling people "don't do X" or "don't do Y" in preparation for the olympics. Additionally I found out they changed the Shinto sign on maps from a reverse swastika to some Japanese roof in preparation for the olympics. I'm legitimately concerned.

Money can always be recovered. If the cultural well is poisoned, that's a different story. It wouldn't be too late if the actual games end up being cancelled and all those undesirables are kept away from Japan.

What were those signs forbidding? Are you sure they were specifically for the olympics?
Replacing the 卍 is definitely a bad sign though.

What's the point to host the event if it just hurts your citizens? The average salaryman or OL in Tokyo just wants to get through another work week. Hosting an extravagant sports event isn't going to help them in any way when it's going to cripple their economy.

I saw on NHK yesterday that they're actually encouraging workers to take vacation days during the Olympics because the trains are going to be so congested.
Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't it typically a bad idea for all of your employees to take a vacation at the same time?

From what I understand, a representative of some game publisher/developer decided to do an "AMA" on /v/. I don't think it was anything to write home about but the usual suspects started screeching their lungs out on twitter about them interacting with the ebul white nationalist racist pedophile etc. website and I think the guy got fired for it. It's basically just drawing a lot of attention from the internet at large towards /v/, and that can't be healthy. I only gave the front page a quick glance and things seem to be business as usual other than the default name being set to "YIKES!" for some clearly very epic meme reason.

So what? They're gonna ban artists for linking to their Pixiv? (They won't.) And as far as I know Twitter has always banned pornographic content, but enforcement of that has always been so lax as to not matter. I don't see what's changed.

With this phrasing I think this could be used against 2D too, but most of it does sound like it only refers to 3DPD bullshit. I'm sure that if some moral crusader gets xir's panties in a twist over a loli artist's they could use this as an excuse to shut it down, but I expect this would only happen to western """""loli""""" """""artists""""".

Hard to do, when most 2D animators are already booked for the next three years.
Demand outstrips the production capabilities of the industry, usually the free market fixes issues like this, but anime animation is a highly specialized job. It's impossible to hire people from other industries, and training an animator can take multiple years. The terrible working conditions for trainees aren't helping.
The solutions are, funding 3D departments, lowering the amount of 2D content in anime, simplifying character designs (requires less time per frame) and funding shorter anime.
Full/almost full 3DCG anime cost around the same and sell better than 2D anime. It's obvios why the industry is producing more 3DCG anime.
Netflix in particular has been really salty that they can't fund any 2D productions.

Kalafina is breaking up.
Also Netflix is going to be producing a Dragon's Dogma anime. Fuck knows what they're going to make it about, since the 1/Dark Arisen story is pretty bland and mostly there to serve the gameplay. Dragon's Dogma Online had more fleshed out lore and felt more animeish for lack of a better word. I loved both games so it's tempting but still

Pantyshot Senpai is coming.
I don't like the voice they got for Assistant. I always imagined him sounding more deadpan. A voice more like Ishigami from Kaguya-sama would've been better for the role. Senpai's voice isn't ideal either but it's not bad.
