Cause it's silly.
I think it has potential to be one of my main shows this season, I just wish it wasn't CGPD. I'd rather have good writing than good animation for a 12 minute comedy though.

Was not expecting the CG for this show. Well its a low budget short, lets see how it does. First episode wasn't bad and the girls seem to be interesting enough to survive 12 weeks.
No.867821
This is my favorite type of niche shit, its so weird and stupid.
No.870760
I always thought the best part of shows like this are the improv segments, so I don't know why they thought it would be a good idea to spend most of the episode on the dull scripted skits and shoehorn the improv in at the last few minutes. Maybe they were expecting to have full length episodes.
No.870765
>>870760
I thought the opposite, especially here. Improv segments are always basically a bunch of friends having fun and laughing the entire time, and here I am sitting on a chair, outside the friend circle, observing.
The scripted parts, at least in this show, are decent and have some consistency to them, somewhat feels like I'm watching an SoL, not just an absolute-minimum-budget advertisement for the VAs.
On a different topic,
>who would want a girlfriend who can multiply herself
Really now, did women write this?

I guess you haven't had as much experience doing that in the 3D world then.

The improvised? shitposting by the VAs at the end is starting to become the most interesting part of the show. The scripted parts seem to be based around the same "how do we get dick?" problem which is going to get old really fast.

I'd be surprised if they don't focus on roommate shenanigans more. I wonder who the target audience is. It's kind of rare to see adult women trying to get laid (from non-specific men) in these kind of shows.
No.873273
>>873056
This is what I was afraid of, which is why I didn't watch past the first episode. I'm a fan of these improvised girls talk anime, but when they try to script too much of it, it loses it's appeal and just becomes any other animu.

The title the anime is "Himote House", meaning "Unpopular House" (to support this, the OP is titled "I Want to be Popular"), so expect a lot of jokes to be about not getting boyfriends.

How does it compare to Joshiraku?
No.878022
>>878014
Very differently. Joshiraku was about Japanese criticism of Japanese social trends and events that you had to be very Japanese to care about. This is pretty much lighthearted gags about women who are trying (badly) to get boyfriends with a decent improv section at the end.
No.878088
>>878014
Not even remotely similar, so much so that I'm not even sure why you'd make the comparison. Joshiraku was 'Zetsubou Sensei season:(???) feat. cute girls drawn by Yasu', himote house is another addition to the 'We have a budget less than KMB and we spent the whole thing on seiyuu we wanted an excuse to chat up' shows.

I think that cat thing might have been a different show altogether. It seems like this episode was shorter than usual but the translator or whatever didn't know so they just recorded the usual 12 minutes and included the start of the next show that aired.

It was a good show, especially for a shoestring budget shitposting anime. I liked both the scripted and unscriped segments, the visuals were quite the step-up from Naria Girls, too.

So this was the final episode. Pretty funny show that will most probably get a second season, yes it will.
Toki is my favorite himote, I love her voice.
