I can't imagine a hyper-aggressive species ever developing advanced technology or industry because those things require cooperation on a massive scale. Of course it's possible they could evolve to be both cooperative and very xenophobic, but I imagine species like that would be outliers rather than the norm.
It's hard to extrapolate from a sample size of one, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that most spacefaring species are psychologically similar to humans. Then again, most spacefaring species are probably artificial intelligences millions of generations removed from anything biological, so who knows. They'd be gods in comparison to us, so I doubt they'd consider us a threat at least.
