Witchblade in regards to the final episode:
Early on, it is stated that the only way Masane can get rid of the witchblade is by amputation. During the final episode, she does not amputate her arm, even knowing that the witchblade is killing her, which in the end is what's kills her.

To be fair, the Dark World is used again to imprison Demon near the end of the season, and it sets up the idea of alternate dimensions beyond just the Real World and Digital World which are influenced by thoughts and emotions of people in the Real World, which comes back for the ending of the series. But yes, Dagomon is never used. Tri mentions Demon and stuff at the end, as if they'll do a sequel and actually address this stuff. But Tri was shit and killed hopes for a Tamers sequel, so I doubt Tri itself will get a sequel.
However, Tri picked up on Homeostasis from Adventure 1, which was seemingly a very important thing that never went anywhere in that series or any other for nearly 20 years. So there's a chance. Digimon continuity is full of events from an anime only being continued in some seemingly unrelated video game that takes place in an alt universe, then continuing again in an audio drama that takes place in a third universe, and a manga that takes place in a fourth universe, before returning to a different anime from a fifth universe.
>>831790
This, however, has bothered me for 20 years, despite the Pokemon anime never really pretending to have a plot anyway.

As much as I respect Tatsuki, there's no way I can agree with that. The gloves were a brilliant moment of visual storytelling with just enough ambiguity and logic it took several days for the audience to figure out what was definitely going on. The four guardians and the underground were plot points introduced in the Raccoon shorts that didn't actually get any consequence in the main story.
I do not believe in them being meant for season 2 because S1 was perfectly self contained. It did not leave any mysteries open in its finale, it didn't remind the audience of the hanging plot threads, it just conclusively ended in the classic "end of an adventure, beginning of another" ending. I'm quite happy with considering focus went on animation as production went on, and the script got revised along the way to focus on the simplicity rather than any fancy twists.
I don't think these hanging plot threads go against kemono friends in any way. I just think they threw them out there and chose not to capitalize on them in the end.

I recall hearing that someone heard that they were going for a Lovecraftmon angle, and just axed that outright. I think replacing the staff lines up with that, but I think S2 was a huge fuck up on so many levels anyways. If I recall correctly, the ending involves children shouting out their dreams to kill the bad guy, then the aftermath is every single human on earth gets a digimon partner and lives happily ever after, the end.
This ending is such a huge fuck up that they spent the next few seasons distancing themselves and creating alternate continuities just to keep the franchise alive. To revive digimon as an anime, they actually went back and revisited S1's cast and pretty much nixed the entire events of S2.

How could anyone forget Juuni Taisen where the whole show retcons its own purpose for the tournament happening by having the one who won it turn it all into a dream, making all the sacrifices of the people that wanted to participate in it pointless and you watching the show to the end feel like you wasted your time. Monkey shouldn't have died early and the deaths shouldn't have turned out to be lame ironic defeats.

Shinsekai yori, they can't hurt their own but the mole rats successfully counter brainwashed them and they can (and have) indirectly harmed them so they could just blindly hurl rocks at the demon/oni.
Not only that but the mole rats only bred one human when the obvious choice was to lobotomize the kids, just like the queen foreshadowed, and wreck their shit with a series of brainwashed kids.

That part wasn't really a plot hole, I don't remember much but they can't harm their own so the molerats used imprinting to make the kid think she or whatever was a molerat herself. So she could harm humans, that's why they made it attack a molerat disguised as a human to defeat it. It's like a duckling attaching to human as mom or something like that.

The reason why im asking for a Tamers sequel is because of a new audio drama Konaka wrote that came with the Tamers BD box, which is just basically the audio for the first episode of a sequel.

It's not about if they actually land a hit directly or attack indirectly though, if they indirectly harm a human and realize it's their act that caused it they're fucked. It's not that easy to trick yourself. I don't remember much but I don't think they had anyone around that didn't know who they were fighting with that they could trick to indirectly kill the brainwashed kid. It was an enemy humans couldn't touch so they had to use the ally molerat guy to make the kid self-destruct.

The ending was bad but Juuni Taisen's biggest flaw was its repetition, in having all the characters die in the same order, and from the same cause, i.e. stupidly underestimating an opponent. Very few of them got much in the way of a real fight, some of the deaths were so incredibly lame. And they all died in reverse zodiac order, so if you knew that you knew who was going to win. The real unresolved plot thread of the series is where their production values went to, those early episodes were on point, as the series went on the animation went from good to horrible. Really it would have been much better served as a 1 ep OVA, as that first episode, at least, was fun. Every episode after was mostly a lame copy of it, though. Awards for lamest deaths go to Sheep for his sudden stupidity and Horse for suffocating to death. At least Monkey went down fighting.

Legend has it the finale of Big O S2 was supposed to be a lot more clear of an ending, but Adult Swim told the director to keep it vague and open-ended in case they wanted to do a S3. Which they didn't. So we got a very cryptic finale. Which is a shame, because I really liked Big O, more for the first season but the second season as well. And it would have been nice to have some more explicit answers to the mysteries of the series, than the mix of symbolism and implication of the finale we got.

There were already a bunch of Chosen Children by the beginning of Adventure 02. They get more focus as the series goes on, but they were there pretty early. Ken and Ryo predate 02 too, with Ken just kinda getting a Digimon because his friend has one. Plus at least they try to justify it by saying the kids that get Digimon witnessed them in some way earlier, like how the Adventure Chosen Children witnessed Greymon fight Parrotmon in the first movie. My point is, Digimon being commonplace in the flash forward epilogue makes sense. What doesn't make sense is Digimon not being well known in Tri, and the Japanese Chosen Children not being publicly known superheroes after they saved the world in front of everybody so many times.
Also Adventure 02 is canon to Tri. They just half brush the characters under the rug in a very unsatisfying way, even though The Digimon Kaiser is still heavily referenced.
>>832181
Honestly I thought Tri got better as it went on, but the first three movies were so awful that the other three, even though they approached being cool sometimes, weren't even close to making up for it. I want to believe a sequel could be good. Especially if it is about Demon and Dagomon and stuff.
>>833336
It's because Digimon designs, at least back then, were already, to put it nicely, "eclectic." People say it's overdesigned compared to Pokemon, because they just throw whatever looks cool into a blender and hope it sticks. Mugendramon is then the combination of the coolest looking parts from all the coolest looking robot-type digimon. Mugendramon's design doesn't give a fuck. It's just the combination of all the coolest looking stuff they could think of up to that point in the franchise.

The first few movies were nothing but slice of life shit with barely any plot and barely any action. Not exactly the reason Digimon is appealing as a franchise. The last few movies started actually moving the plot forward and had significantly more action. Not that that action was particularly good, but at least it was there.
