Oh it's graspable, but it's not an in-your-face kind of show. Bet you didn't notice the girls were watching them from their dorm room windows. Or that Yayaka is watching the girls get sucked into the Pure Illusion even more in the background

Cocona in school/at home vs. in the Pure Illusion (and really both characters' frequent shifts) has a nice subtle contrasting effect.

a lotta "morphing" now that i think about it

It was the first show that really drove me to want to be active here. I saw it on a whim, saw the thread and with only the first episode out I started talking about everything and picking things apart and finding little details, trolling through places like Japanese Twitter and Japanese boards looking for information or other ideas and it really made the show light up for me. I fell in love with it and it became my favorite show of the year. I have very fond memories of watching it with a friend who was as impressed as I and with you guys here.

It really was a wonderful show to experience alongside /a/. The threads were so much fun to be in each week.

It's not too often we get a show that bring everyone together like that, there's maybe only a few each year, Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou being the last one I can think of.

COCONA!

This show doesn't make much sense even without the use of degenerate substances. A lot of stuff just kind of goes nowhere, like the twins and their younger sister or whatever it was. Also weird stuff that never really gets addressed, like how the paprika goes from being the mother's best friend forever to being in a gay relationship with her daughter. And how come she didn't age? Is she immortal now?

>>830105

I find this kind of horror incredibly unnerving and this episode creeped me the hell out.

>>830128

The show had a lot of good butts.

I think the first episode, the one with the alice in wonderland and (though more different in overall atmosphere) the one in the girl academy all had a really interesting adventuring feel to them and I kind of preferred those parts over the more fight-heavy episodes later on or the psycho drama but it was still nice overall. Honestly wouldn't have minded if the show was tonally almost entirely like those episodes.

Man but did they ever pile on the imagery and work hard to make the art feel fresh. A lot of the symbolism and whatnot it ended up not meaning much in the end, and a lot of our speculation turned out to be wrong, but it was great to see so much attention to detail, and so much visual creativity being poured out into a modern televised anime. That feels rare in this day and age. Watching it and discussing it with you guys was the best part.
