I recently acquired a pile of Japanese doujin floppy disks, some in PC-98 format. This is the stock that can't move through the secondhand market any more and must therefore be disposed of, so they're probably not going to be very good. Since I have the equipment to recover long-faded magnetic media, I decided to see what they were before I threw them out. Because my archive-autism won't let me throw them out unless I properly preserve their contents, I've decided to share their contents with you to start things off here.
First disk: 「 Ｇｏ！Ｔｏ！Ｈｅａｒｔ！！ Ｖｏｌ． １」, 1998, byくれじっと. IBM-compatible floppy, each volume sold as two-floppy sets.

セリオ.jpg is datestamped 1 Jan 1999, 8:21PM, which indicates the artist probably drew it over the New Year. I think it's a nice touch.

Start Disk B. In the R-series, it seems the circle started releasing the newfangled "HTML disk" format. In this groundbreaking format, the circle embeds a web page within the disk and the buyer can view it as a small website of its own. The afternote on the disk requests that the buyer tell the circle their impressions of this change.
I presume that they were supposed to do so by postal mail to the circle's snail-mail box, since an email address is not provided on this particular disk, nor the pages within.

You're welcome. Doujinshi are labours of love; most are never scanned, and most circles lose money. Entropy will one day consume everything we have known or loved but in the mean time I believe that I've done a little bit to keep the results of this person's passion over those couple of years alive.

The only time I was surprised to see the blood was when I first started looking at hentai, since our sex ed in school never once mentioned the hymen. You'd think that even in Western sex ed that puts no value on chastity, they'd at least mention that a girl might start bleeding when you put it in.

This is 「輪漢堂ＣＧ集①～屋上で輪漢～」 by 座敷牛. The readme says that its release date was 1999-08-13 and the image timestamps (1999-08-12) support this. The author mentions that 80% of the images were drawn with a mouse, and that thanks to their previous success at Summer Comiket they were able to purchase a scanner, and with the subsequent mail orders they might be able to purchase a printer and tablet.
They wanted to experiment with the newfangled HTML disk format, but did not have time. Therefore, they included some simple commentary inside the readme.
