It isn't even a nostalgia thing, I just got into Berserk 4 months ago after a friend made me watch the 97' series. And after railroading the manga I genuinely think the Lost Children style is the best. Miura has obviously gotten technically better since then, but in terms of aesthetics the post-Eclipse style just pulls me right in. Maybe it's a bit petty, but when I heard the title Berserk, I think of dark insanity, that's just me though.

>>806093
It is suppost to be like that, the moments were it shines were like that. I miss it.
But hey, i just want to see the same old thing already. When it was gritty and dark, with Gutts living in borrowed time but never giving up just to defy destiny and getting shit done. It was just as down to earth as it could be and that was part of what i liked about this, Gutts is a normal human, not some magical fuck that can regen HP at the end of the day, if he fucks up too hard, he is dead. Puck was Miura's exit for part of that since what he went up against later on left more that just some scars, thou it kinda got a little ridiculous with the RPG party forming up. The other part is the ride that the community itself is in, people once compared the boat hiatus to the other manga around, mourned for anons that might had died in sea, waiting, and That Slap. But that might be me RP too much, comparing the reader base with Gutts.
The return of the way everything was drawn before would be perfect to close this ark, to shown we are out of the Boat Ride and into the Skelly Ride of Endless Struggle once again.
No.806122

I agree. I think it is incredibly interesting that an artist changes the way the characters look to reflect a more whimsical and fantasy era, but at the end of the day all of the whimsy is just a mask, much like Griffith's angelic body hiding his twisted dark god nature. Maybe digital just fucked things up period, but if things do return to how they were it just cements Miura as a pioneer doing different stuff from his contemporaries.

Puck also had the role of being a sort of moral compass for Guts, a scout to look for hidden doors or other stuff like that, and an exposition machine, as in the Black Swordsman arc and the Lost Children Arc he was the one that was mostly talking to the NPCs asking about the story, while Guts was busy killing monsters. His childlike innocence also blalanced Gut's edge and alleviated some of the tension and dread from the comic, it wasn't bad until every other character in Gut's RPG party(besides the blond dude) became a joke machine.

People who hate griffith are like those who hate Donovan. Donovan paid for guts ass and only did so since Gambino offered it to him, the only reason he "raped" guts was because Gambino allowed him to. Donovan also didn't kill guts when he resisted and instead just made him submissive so he got his money's worth. If guts were more mature he would have seen this, and he would also see that Griffith is trying to make a peaceful world and Guts is trying to destroy that so that war is rampant. Guts is the only true villain in berserk and if you don't realize this then you obviously don't know the true meaning behind this manga.

As much joy as that would bring me I don't think it would make sense as he doesn't really gain much at this point.
It would be nice so I don't have to hear about how what Griffith did was for the greater good and is therefore justified.

The last page merely says "to be continued", and does not specify a date for 357. At the same time, it does not say that it's going on hiatus.
Whenever it went on hiatus these past few times, it would always say so on the final page of the last chapter released before the planned hiatus.
There were eight chapters in volume 39, and there have been 6 "uncompiled" released thus far (that will become volume 40.) Since there aren't enough chapters to fill a volume yet, the monthly release schedule may very well continue.

I got more invested in this fight between Griffith and the never before seen unnamed giant leader than anything related to detarding Casca. She could have served that purpose fine as a potato. And I didn't say Griffith wasn't gay. I doubt many would have wanted to see Guts retarded and pregnant instead of Casca after the eclipse.

It would probably be for the best if Miura did die. That way the suffering would end. Then some anons could say that Guts either died on the return trip back or fucked off with Casca to some far off land, or he returned and either aided Griffith for reasons or he killed Griffith with some new berserker weapon.

Let's face it, Miura like Griffith more. He just does. He likes how OP he is, how Machiavellian his scheming is, his design, his OP - did I mention how OP he is? Griffith is Miura's fantasy and Guts is Miura's reality. He's gotten old and wants to play and Griffith is the best magical playground.
No.828521

Or maybe he's just buying time because after two entire decades he still has absolutely no idea what to do with a cured Casca. Think about it, there's a lot of character development at the door now. Guts is going to change. Casca will have to be handled more than just a "Don't Get Raped" cutie pie. MagiLoli will have to wrestle with seeing Guts and Casca actually becoming romantic in front of her and, likely, growing closer again to intimacy. There's the first kiss, the first hug, lots of emotional moments to go over - and then there's the first time they have sex again. That's gonna be a lot of character development build-up for her to come through the trauma and Guts will likely be hounded by Doggo to drive it in when she's crying and shivering in his arms after their first failed attempt.
Miura either has no idea how he's going to do all this while also continuing the story or he is outright dreading this because it means a lot more realistic human interactions and a lot less Berserkime. Action will need to be timed properly and all things will be in service to this mountain of character development or else the whole thing will feel rushed or shoddy and Miura will want to eat a shotgun.
Better to take some time with monster slaying super Griffith antics. Look how cool he is! Oh man, don't you just think he's so powerful and cool and strong? Let's keep watching what Griffith can do WHAT AM I GONNA DO NOW I CAN'T DO THIS HOW AM I EVEN GONNA RIGHT THIS WHERE'S MY INHALER OH HELL OH HELL OH HELL WHY DIDN'T I DO THIS TWENTY YEARS AGO WHEN I STILL CARED WHERE ARE MY NOTES DID I LOSE THEM AFTER MOVING IN IDOLM@STER MERCH OH OOOOooooh~

By now, I'm kinda ok with this. The usual jokes aside, the recent falconia chapters were much more interesting than anything Guts' group did since they went on board. Well, I guess fish tits is kinda cute.
I don't think Berserk will never live up to it's pre-hiatus chapters again. Those are still amazing, full of energy and inspiration and nothing will ever change that. I'll stay on this ride forever but I no longer have any expectations. It's been years since I gave up hope that Guts will ever get killed by Theresia.

There is no such thing. You see, there are two different scales, one goes from good to bad, the other one is from good to evil. The first one concerns everyday life, the second one is for the realm of religion and philosophy. Therefore something can be both good and evil or bad and good.
