It's an actual Hoshiiro ep like people expected except our mischievous duo are placed in the action partway through similar to the other skits.

There isn't a real conclusion to the Hoshi Iro plotline after that.

There's also an 'award show' as a way to commemorate the best parts in the show.

From what I'm hearing, they don't really have any interest in expanding Hoshiiro, it's kinda cookie-cutter on purpose and they'd rather leave it up to others to make 'good' series of that style.

I kind of hope that this doesn't get a second season. Not because I didn't like it, but because most of the enjoyment of a Pop Team Epic anime lies with the novelty and there being nothing quite like it currently on air, on top of its very existence itself being a massive shocker. A second season of PTE will never be as good as the first, no matter what, so I just hope it remains this flash in a pan in everyone's memories which absolutely nobody expected.

A good performer also knows when it's time to fuck off off the stage.

I really wouldn't put anything past anyone involved with the series. The series itself isn't clever or smart, but its method is very clever. It honestly feels like a bunch of artists, writers, and animators getting fed up with having to cater to an audience, and doing exactly what they want. All the while trying to defy the non-conformist subculture as well, because that's just a different set of rules for them to follow and a different audience.

Yet at the same time they also admit that anyone who likes what they're doing is probably part of a hive-mind subculture, and they're perfectly fine with taking advantage of them so long as they don't have to cater to them.
