I don't think Guts has ever considered using the Behelit, at least conventionally, to become an Apostle. He knows it's a way to summon the Godhand. His original intention was probably to use it to summon Femto so he could attack him.

My point is that the Count was almost killed by Guts, but managed to activate the behelit. He then tried to sacrifice Guts to the Godhand to save his life but was rejected because Guts was already marked as a sacrifice of Griffith's. So at the very least Guts and Caska are immune to being sacrificed again by someone else.

My presumption is that a sacrifice can't offer someone else as sacrifice, but I could be wrong. This point hasn't really been answered in the story.

I don't really understand how the behelit or moonlight child could be used however they seem like decent cards to be played later.

Slan states that Guts can use a behelit, in any case a branded individual still alive and kicking is not exactly the norm, I still wonder if Griffith has full power or something when his sacrifice is still incomplete for all intents and purposes.

So I just got around to watching the animated verson of Casca's rape by Griffith.

Really? Fucking really? That was the tamest, lamest, least violent rape scene I have ever seen in any medium. Are you fucking kidding me?

Maybe it was drawn differently in the manga, but the anime barely even qualified as rape. It damned sure doesn't even look like it hurt Casca. It barely looks like there any pain or discomfort. And Griffith is barely moving.

Apostles have free will and autonomy. Wyald could have killed Griffith right before the Eclipse if Zodd hadn't been there to kill him instead. The only real control that is applied to apostles, and the only control that's really necessary, is done through the foresight of causality and the manipulation of fate to ensure that just the right person receives a behelit at just the right time for the God Hand's purposes. Since Guts exists outside the flow of causality, this no longer necessarily applies to him.
