That one Macross? movie where some Zentraedi were enslaved by other aliens with singers, the humans have multiple bigass installations around the Earth and Macross? itself is basically retired, and the giant enemy space ship was defeated by his forces betraying him

and a few episodes of Robotech on Netflix.

And I love Robotech/Macross, its background and universes.

Robotech has basically nothing to do with macross, and Macross II is non-canon and was made by different people. So you've never seen anything macross.

Also, harmony gold are a bunch of litigious hacks that have prevented almost anything macross from making it outside japan (and they've even tried to sue the makers of macross for releasing macross stuff IN japan).

Don't remind me. the entire original Xeno Series (XenoGears and XenoSaga) are basically the Star Trek of video games in terms of lore, massive backstory, and a lot of science, and a whole lot of spiritual philosophy. I have actually read most of it, and its a enjoyable cluster fuck that makes you think the love child of Gene Roddenberry and Shirow Masamune wrote the whole damn thing. Either way we need a remake of XenoGears like yesterfuckingday.

Robotech was in many ways the first anime for Gen Xers. I remember watching it when i was a wee lad of about 9. It was great! The series is still awesome in my opinion. You can thank Robotech for getting so many of us older anime fans started. And helping to break America into the anime scene. And Voltron as well.
