All of the JJBA mangas, with the sole exception of parts 1 (because it sets up the rest of the series and feels like a way to avoid a power creep with Jonathan and Dio) and 7 (because most of the loose ends are tied and overall the entire finale, from Love Train to Johnny's departure feel like such a great closure for the series). All the other parts suffer a lot either from Araki completely forgetting some character's traits and experience or just pulling shit out of his ass. I can buy Nazi Cyborgs and even standing on top of an active volcano but how the hell did Joseph survive all of that? It's not even a cool survival, he just up and did it.

Anthem of the Heart.

MC chooses some girl that barely had any screen time or character development over the main girl, and then a guy who seems completely incompatible with the main girl and barely interacted with her at all confesses to her.

Otherwise I loved the movie but that was just so stupid.

Talking about the anime. Second season started building a lot of tension but seemed to forget about resolving any of it at the end, and then it literally ended on a cliffhanger. I love the series but that left a really bad taste in mouth.

Blame the writer of the LNs. He pushed for the second season even though he was told that the story became unadaptable (or it would have needed at least two cours in my opinion), and the second season ended exact where volume 11 ended. Volume 12 only came out last autumn, and they will release volumes 13 and 14 together in a few years, and those will end the story. Maybe then there will be a 3rd season.

This.

It's compounded by the fact that the "love" text on the screen that doesn't fit the rest of the artstyle, it was a disorienting finish.

>>783513

I started watching it expecting a minimal plot that's just an excuse for them to race (like how John Wick's plot is just an excuse for him to shoot people), but the first race finishes at the 12 minute mark, and the next race starts at around the 1 hour mark, so there's a big section of the movie where they're just not racing.

It would have been nice if they had a scene afterwards where JP and Frisbee talk about entering the next Redline tournament or if they had a medal ceremony. I'm not looking for much, just some sense that the universe of Redline continues after the movie ends.

I honestly get the feeling that Bee Train was originally cleared for a full twenty-six episodes with this, only to have Sony cut their funding close to the end, forcing a conclusive arc that might have originally had content/pacing for eight episodes to be condensed into four (series wound up with only twenty-two episodes). However, I don't think anything's actually been said about it on the studio's end, so that's just speculation on my part. Certainly not a series I dislike (and it not being an adaptation helps with that, as far as not suffering the usual issues of such), but one where you're left with a mixture of numbness and "what?" by the closure. Definitely a more enjoyable journey than actual destination, if you ask me. The train shenanigans episode is still a favorite of mine.

>>Avdol dies in stupid manner

He sacrificed his life in order to protect Polnareff, because he was an idiot and felt for an obvious trap.

>>gets revived in plothole

I wouldn't actually call it a plot-hole, they explained that the bullet scraped the skin, not pierce the skull, and the dagger didn't hit any vital organs.

>>dies again in stupid manner

Again he dies, in order to protect his allies, ironically after giving a speech about how he would abandon them in order to defeat Dio, and that they should do the same.

>>Kakyoin has 0 character development

Agreed.

>>only scene where he is interesting is where he got replaced with some skinstealer

As >>785124 said, he had other good scenes as well, but I agree he wasn't as good as Polnareff, who I enjoyed more than JoJo.

>>dies in some cheap manner that moves the plot forward

It was meant to show how powerful and dangerous Dio is, if you want cheap deaths, just wait for Part 5.

>>Joseph could instantly kill Dio with his hamon techniques or combination of Hermit Purple and Hamon

He tried several times, and Dio still defeated him.

>>decides to just run around and scream names

He was trying to figure out what Kakyoin meant by destroying the clock, and how to defeat Dio(tried using Hamon and Hermit Purple in order to guard himself from Dio's close range attacks)

>>Jotaro survives the impossible like 20 daggers stuck in his body and stopping his own heart and reviving himself

There weren't all that many daggers, and he had books to protect him from most of them, the hearth thing was a bit silly, but acceptable for a Shounen protagonist to do.

>>Dio's stand stops time and Jotaro somehow is able to do the same

Agreed, Araki pulled that one out of his ass, and just saying, "they are the same type of stands" won't cut it.

>>both of them can fly without any explanation

I think that was just a poor translation from the manga. There is usually a difference between manga time and real time, and not just with JoJo, where characters can give an entire speech in one second, while falling, but when translating to anime, it seems as if the character is falling for a solid five minutes, from the second floor of a building. Also see Dio's speeches while he stopped time for just seconds. I think in the manga they were jumping around, and in the OVA they weren't flying just jumping around.

>>Polnareff is missing for the duration of that fight until he jumps for 10 seconds doing a useless attack and then is sidelaned for the rest of fight

He and JoJo were trying to execute a pincher attack, something Dio commented and knew about.

>>Jotaro defeats Dio in some Deus Ex Machina manner bullshit and claims he only did it because Dio pissed him off and not to avenge his grandfather or his dead friends or even to save his mother.

Agreed.

>>Joseph gets revived without explanation how he didnt become a vampire from Dio's blood

He probably used Hamon to purify the blood.

>>ending scene is Joseph, Polnareff and Jotaro laughing and saying the entire journey was lots of fun completely forgetting about the deaths of innocent people and their friends and personal trauma like Polnareff episode with his zombie sister and zombie Avdol

Bitiching this much about a light-hearted ending, would you rather end the manga with them at the cemetery crying and saying how awful this journey was?

>>Jotaro in plane looks at picture of the old group and instead of tearing up or feeling sad he smiles like Dio.

He was probably thinking about the good times, instead of bad times, plus he knew that he just saved his mother's life so yeah, mission accomplished. Also what do you mean, smiled like Dio?

If you really want to bitch about things how about these:

>how come there was no scene in which Joseph tried to teach Jotaro Hamon, in order to defeat Dio the vampire?

>how come Dio never used any of his vampiric powers(instant freezing or laser eyes) in battle?

>how come Joseph didn't use Hamon in order to cheat defeat Darby at the water-coin game

>how come Holly get "cured" from her Stand, but Joseph, Jotaro, Josuke and Giorno kept theirs, even when Josuke was as sick and would have died the same way as Holly, so you can't give the "strong will" excuse?

>how come Jolyne didn't get a Stand at birth and instead had to touch the arrow?

>how did Jonathan Dio acquiring a stand, make all his descendants(besides Jolyne) acquire a stand, when it's alien bacteria that gives you a stand, and not spiritual mumbo-jumbo?.

Season 2 was exactly as bad as the OVAs set before it were great. I'm fairly certain he wasn't the same age as he was at the start. He's a few years younger, and I think his former coworker might've also been a bit older. They were much closer in age at the end.

I never understood why you faggots complain that MC didn't end up with Hinazuki. Not every meaningful relationship between a man and a woman has to be romantic, especially not when the man is an adult in a shota body and a little girl.

If the story was about a father trying to save his daughter I doubt you'd be bitching about him not impregnating her at the end.

 No.785173

>>785172

Realistically she should have moved on given the circumstances, but the problem isn't that they didn't end up together.

The problem is that the writer thought it was a good idea to show you her having a baby with someone else while the MC is completely disconnected from everyone and alone after having spent the last 10 or so episodes saving her life and getting into a very close relationship with her. It just doesn't feel right to be shown that.

 No.785180

>>785173

The point of that was to show that thanks to the MC she was able to live a happy, healthy and fulfilling life.

Again, looking at it from a more parental rather than romantic perspective, it make sense. Hinazuki ending up with MC was never an option and that wasn't his intent. He was just trying to give her a good life, like a father would his child, and that's what she got.

That's not the only problem with Darker than black. It follows the trend of "Anime original with complicated looking story where shit happens but nobody knows what the fuck is going on".

Nothing is really explained even though it follows tell don't show more than show don't tell, even more in the second season.

What the fuck was even going to happen when Izanagi and Izanami meets that was so bad? What was the point of copying Earth just for Suou? What's up with the black tower inside the gate at the end and what's with that short haired yin lookalike? What the hell are gates to begin with? So many questions unanswered I could go on further.

Season one worked quite well on the level of simply giving a setting where the action can take place. You have the world, you got the Hell gates that are the magical macguffin Zones, you've got the contractors and you got various corps and agencies for whom they're doing their shadowrun business for. Even when the first season was going through the Amber plotline and the conspiracies, it still felt rather grounded and with a purpose. Hei's and Yin's relationship and its slow growth and progress was fantastic, and the OVA did a great job at showing how they try to get close even when on the run and it almost works out.

But then in season two they decide that they'll introduce this completely new character with her own major story arc and Hei and Yin are just the background decorations. Who the fuck thought that the best thing they needed in a series about grim contractors living out pretty miserable lives while ducking corp goons between their runs was a magical girl whose power was summoning a shitty looking pipe rifle. Keeping it simple and focused worked really well, but I don't know if they just ran out of ideas or went too nuts with some of the powers, because replicating an entire planet so that his twin sister could lead a happy life - that's some way out there shit.

The Hell Gates not being explained didn't really matter at all. They are simply the backdrop of the setting that allow for the cool supernatural shit to happen just like the Zone in Stalker series is the place that allows for all its cheeki breeki i v damke action. It's when the show just goes in completely uncharted waters with characters you don't really know that well or care too much about, that's when your attention begins to float away. The Izanagi and Izanami shit would be much better if Hei was the center of attention in season two as well, rather than just the babysitter. You're watching Darker than Black for some sick chinese electric Batman action first and foremost, that's what hooks you in from episode one.

Also the music was trash. Going from Yoko Kanno's groovy beats to UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ was absolutely jarring.

The manga for this.

I absolutely adored it when we had a girl of the week, liked it even when the goddesses besides Diana were introduced, which I've heard others complain about. But then we went full hell conspiracy and the story seemed to forget what it was truly about: a gamer otaku getting girls to fall for him; Then this lost its luster as one of my absolute favorites.

It was kinda salvaged by that elementary school capture Though I am still mad Keima didn't even meet Urara in the present day but that was like a glass of fresh water in an ocean of sand.

And let's not even start with the matter of Keima choosing Chihiro like he did. I wouldn't be as butthurt about this if he had interacted with her a lot more than he did. As it stands his choice seems and probably was forced from an editorial standpoint.

I'll always remember the first half and the one shot fondly, but I can't bring myself to do the same for the last part.

>Shoots Johan square in the head, again, who survives, again

>Decides to brood for around 10 minutes

>then decides he's the only one who can save Johan, and that he WANTS to save him, after all the shit he's been through

>somehow convinces the policemen and the doctors to operate on Johan, who is also still somehow alive despite there being at least an hour of bullshit and including the heli ride back to a hospital

>manages to actually save Johan using an supposedly extremely difficult procedure that he's preformed on Johan many years ago, despite not stepping foot into a hospital for years, and again, all that shit he had been through in the hotel

And after all that shit, Jonah

>still got one over on Tenma while being in a fucking coma

>and managed to waltz out of the hospital presumably to fuck shit up again

I mean it started sucking by the 50th episode but that ending undid any good will I had towards the series.

This only left me wondering why they would go with an ending like that. Both the reveal that she was just pretending on some level throughout the entire thing and the epilogue. I did see some hints to the first twist, but didn't think they would actually go through with it because it's such a disappointing and unsatisfying ending. Of course the show where the male and female leads show affection right from the start has to end with the reveal that she was just manipulating him all along. To actually get Monster- you need to read Nietzsche. The entire thing is about Nihilism. Yohan had attachments in the end, and thus, was no longer the brainwashed void of thing he was intended to be, and the last part where he's gone implies as the other dude from Kinderheim said he became human again, starting his own family and living out his life till he dies, with the massacre being him challenging fate to see if if was still okay that someone like him could live after the shit he did because that shit where he walks up to people with his finger on his head is where he's in a certain state of assurance someone's going to end him- it's a challenge to human empathy and survival in the face of nothingness that awaits the "master man" as Nietzsche described him to be, literally the last human being on earth, having killed(eaten) everyone else via his own will to power.

Also, this is fucking Tenma, nigger hit the gym and has Doctor K tier medical precision, never underestimate a non-kiked doctor, they're there for you my man- and the guys an azn, and like what, no license? So that's extra points on the "Literally unbound by kike science and is now the Ubermensch TF2 Medic, capable of transcendent shit. It's merely a plot device.

And people tell me that harem endings are tacky. Going full harem beats whatever ending abortion they can come up with any day of the week.

And just to go on record, all haremshit should end in harem. It would solve 99% of the problems the plots face because suddenly the narrative can actually progress since the author isn't required to cockblock any and all development to keep the final choice in the air. If the author decides from the get go the MC is getting all the girls he's free to push their interactions far as they will go.

I've yet to see a satisfying ending to anything focused on incest. The MC always gets cold feet and pussies out. Yosuga no Sora's gotten the closest to a satisfying end but once they got there the MC backtracks but then embraces it and immediately backtrack again so that there can be a short falling out so they can have a moment of reconciliation before they finally come to terms with it. So on the one hand it did go all out and delivered on the incest but on the other it's a fucking sloppy mess because Haru can't decide whether or not to dick his sister.
