Not the anon you asked but yes it is. There was a lot of time wasted on pointless 3D rotation around pointless objects just to say "time has stopped except our characters". Also in the stopped time world there are pretty much invisible creatures that are somewhat human controlled, just like the black things in Ajin. I doubt this story will have an antagonist as fun as hat man so this is probably going to be less fun to watch.

The 3 episode rule exists for a good reason.
I watch over 30 new anime this season, I don't have the time to watch a terrible anime, just because there's a 0.1% chance that the anime might improve by episode 6.

This one's problem is not just the absence of good things, it's the presence of bad things. From one cliche shitty dramatic situation they bumbled right into another cliche shitty dramatic situation within just one episode. At least a mediocre anime with the same concept would've had a first episode where the gramps walks in there, gets the kid and onii-san, walks back home and everyone's happy. A good anime with the same concept would've had the same thing, but with them killing the thugs or severely hurting them. This had neither, Men in Black showed up, level 2 thugs that can walk in frozen time showed up, they pushed in the shit of the good guys again, then tree showed up, episode ends in the middle of the fight on a cliffhanger. There's not a lot they could've done to leave a worse impression.
Can it recover? Sure, but I'm not counting on it.

It was filled with cliche's and I found most of the character's to be rather unlikable, with the slut of an older sister, "girl taking on the world" MC, shitty brother and father who will probably do nothing but be a plot device, we haven't seen anything of the mom yet, and the grandfather seems like he is going to pull shit out of his ass to make the story work. Though the still's during the transition and ending sequences were decent, but you can tell they put all their money into the close up's during the time stop segements. I will probably keep on watching it to completion, just to see how this shitty plot progress.

I'm getting the feeling that this show is a victim of the cutting room floor. Considering it really died in the ass, I'd wager that they had a change of plans half way through and went with whatever the fuck it is now instead of whatever the fuck it was going to be at the start.
Mismanaged show that had early potential but a hack can't be carried, it seems.

It's probably going to be some timefuckery in the final episode.
I also just noticed that Juri changes her clothes in the OP when she changes them in the show.

This is probably going to tie into the ending.

>What was even the point of having the father pretend he was controlling the herald if they just found out shortly after?
It was just a short comedic moment i guess. I kinda like the goofy father figure.
>Why are we having a flashback episode about the stupid villain and his life growing up in a cult?
Why is the villain stupid, though? I find his motivations and his origins far more interesting than the typical "hurr durr i want to conquer the whole world!" type of anime villain.

>What was even the point of having the father pretend he was controlling the herald if they just found out shortly after?
Because he's a scumbag that is willing to try anything in order to get the ability to enter stasis.

I just thought of this, but if the kid can control the specters, couldn't he have used his power to control Sagawa?

They need to fill time because with no cultists or heralds left there's nothing preventing Juri from getting rid of the family's specters.
Sinister time-stop cult man is definitely stupid, but I don't think he's necessarily a bad villain. Good motivations, just poor execution.
>Why is anyone still watching this?
Hey, it's better than Beatless.

I'm willing to bet they forgot all about this character. I certainly did.

As I expected they spent the entire show inside the same moment. I don't think it's been that bad as other people say, it was enjoyable. The villains goal is not any crazier than a Jojo villain and makes sense. The family was all unique especially the dad.

Tobio was dead and unconscious, while Sagawa was still alive and semi-human, and in full control of his specters. Probably has to do with that.

There's only one episode left now, and it's like nothing happened this episode. I think spending an episode where the defeated bad guy turns into an even more easily defeated spider was a poor choice. I've generally been enjoying this show but the last episode and a half have been pure filler. If we needed the villain's motivation, they should probably have given it to us before the final confrontation.
Still interested to see what happens in the finale. Will the MC have to wait behind in stasis until the spider baby grows up enough to expel her? And then it'll just die of exposure and loneliness in stasis?

I dont fully understand how that ended but I'm glad its over. Onto to better shows this and next season.

I think it's just pure coincidence, the ending is also shown in the first episode.

It was satisfying that the show wrapped up its story properly at the end, unlike most seasonal anime. Having the opening scene come back at the end to go full circle was a nice touch.
It wasn't the greatest thing this season but for the most part I was fairly entertained, and interested to see where the characters and story were going. I am still interested to see more from this studio.

"the girl from the first episode can actually move in and out of stasis and send people out of it too" aside, I enjoyed the final episode more than the rest of the anime.

If my memory serves correctly, they are doing Golden Kamui now.
I liked this show, not the greatest thing in the world but it wrapped things up pretty nicely.

That is correct. I am intending to give the first few episodes a go, and I do like the historical time period (Russo-Japanese war), but I'm afraid it'll end up coming off more like a tired yakuza thing because of all the references to fighting criminals to help the best friend's widow.
I don't know anything about the source material though so feel free to change my mind. It seems to be very popular.

You should consider reading it if you like ainu cooking.
