Thoughts on pic related? I've been watching on a kick of action anime and I often see this suggested alongside Black Lagoon. I've watched both and I don't think Jormungand really compares to Black Lagoon. It lacks the personality and charm of Black Lagoon. Black Lagoon portrayed a grimy and dirty criminal underground really well. It was appropriately dark when it needed to be. Jormungand doesn't have any substance like that. It almost feels like it lacks in tone.

The characters are likable enough. I like Jonah even though he's a nigger. Koko is a cutiepie. The rest of the crew is perfectly serviceable.

Overall the anime is nothing special but I see it recommended constantly. Why? Is it a matter of it being entry-level and so a bunch of normalfags watched it? Is it because it's got cute girls and over the top action? There are other shows that do it far better.

Kasper was the better Hekmatyr. I feel like if they made a follow up story following Kasper's exploits during those two years Jonah was with him, or even after Koko's retarded plan was set into motion and fails because it's a fucking retarded plan that was disproved by non other than Kasper, it would make for some really entertaining watching. As for the squad, besides Jonah and Lehm I didn't really like most of them. Tojo, Mao and the big mafioso guy(Ugo?) were really forgettable, I only remember lutz getting shot/stabbed in the ass and R because he died like a hero and had a plot point about him. Yeah Valmet's a hot musclegrill and all but I feel that Chiquta was a better character and cuter musclegrill and I would have loved to see her and Jonah's interactions.

I kinda want another season set after Koko fucks everything up where we get to watch Kasper doing arms dealing and watching people adapting to the new ways of warfare. Especially if he can throw a big fuck you at Koko.

Eh. I liked the character designs and the fit military-girl fanservice. I also didn't mind the overall story too much. It could have been more Wolf and Spice with guns but the fact that she pretty much turned out to be a Bond villain whose terror act succeeds was refreshing too.

I didn't like many of the action scenes. There were just too many times when people would shoot at each other, while standing 10 meters appart, with nobody hitting anything. I often had the same problem with Black Lagoon but I think it is a far better series than Jormungand. I also think it was a big waste that we didn't get to see the fight between Valmet and that chinese gunslinger.

Lastly, I think characters either died too soon while others never died even if they should have. For example, that terrorist/assassin duo from the early season 1 or that american agent from season 2 had far too little screentime, they were kinda teased as recurring antagonists only to just get killed of. At the same time, there were many characters that survived for no reason, like those useless assassins from mid season one. I think they should have killed some people from Koko's crew too. With such a huge cast, I was expecting some of them to get killed of to raise the stakes but only that one double-agent died. What a wasted opportunity.

I liked the first season. The operating in Jormungand was good. I actually ended up liking the actual crew more than Jonah and the Hekmartyrs; as much as Koko was loco, she had a tendency to get in the way of the other cast members. Kasper was annoying, that's all I remember from when I watched it. The second season had an awful ending, the quantum computer was GATE-tier bad.

While thinking about it for the post, I found it difficult to compare them to see if one was objectively better than the other, but realized they were two different types of action. Black Lagoon is a more "dirty" show, where the missions all boil down to scrap-or-die, everyone knows each other to some degree, and money means survival since there's nothing else for them. Jormungand is a "clean" show where it's just a very, very dangerous job and the jobs are mostly impersonal. Any one of the crew could go back to the real world, find a regular job, and live easily. I personally found Jormungand more satisfying because the cast as a whole each had their own impact on the story, while everyone in Black Lagoon who wasn't Rock or Revy seemed to exist as obstacles or plot tools, even Dutch and Benny. Roanapur in Black Lagoon felt like it had a lot more heart, however, while there were too many missions for Koko's ship to actually feel like a home base.

I've never seen Jormungand recommended before Black Lagoon, Lagoon's always been the entry-level recommendation. Jormungand is more of the pure /ak/ recommendation because of the operating.

I think a problem I have with the operating is that you don't really see the crew operating, but rather you see them posing. You don't see them getting into position, laying out their plans, or even an overview of how fights are going in the first place, all you see if someone shooting a gun and some other dude dying without any regard for distance. Which makes it very infuriating watching supposed tense action scenes. For example the fight between the seal team near the end of the series, I thought at the very least 5 people would die on either side. But apparently those 10 or so minutes of people shooting and the crew going OH WOW THEY'RE SO FAST THEY'RE SO GOOD was essentially a waste of time because we have no idea how accurate or inaccurate anyone is, where anyone is the fight or what anyone's planning. Which makes it even more retarded as to how the team managed to slip past the seal team just because "they hacked our maps!".

when I look back and try to remember the show pretty much all I remember liking were the bonding moments between the team, the fanservice of all the girls this fucking show sparked a muscle fetish that will never ever be satisfied and that one grating rap/techno music they used throughout the show(I think it was called time to attack). It's not particularly bad but I don't think I would have remembered it if it weren't for the fap fuel or this thread.

The quantum computer plot is essentially a quantum computer can break all encryption and digital security with ease. Since everything is networked nowadays then they have access to every networked computer system and are able to manipulate those systems at will. The guantanamo raid in the show was the illustrate what they can due by altering the communications and gps data to the team that was trying to track them down. The end is koko using the system to simultaneously cause all planes in the sky to crash and to announce that war is over because i can control all networked systems.

However the whole thing is retarded because all anyone has to do in disconnect from the internet and their computer systems will work fine. If there is no connection between the systems then what exactly is her magic computer in a satellite going to do? Unless she can physically destroy all facilities capable of making weapons then she just slowed things down a little. Just unplug your rifle factory from any outside connections then just keeping making guns. Planes were flown all over the world without interconnected gps for decades, so she just set air travel back to the 80s. Koko basically accomplished nothing in terms of stopping warfare, a smelly goatfucker with an ak doesnt need anything fancy to slaughter the enemy tribe in the next village that his tribe has been at odds with for 300 years. Tanks, planes, and ships dont need a massive interconnected comms system to turn on and shoot something. Artillery just requires some basic math to hit a target. Koko is such a useless slut she cant even stop nuclear warfare because they can just do what was planned decades ago, just plug in the flight path and coordinated then launch. Since there is no communication with the nuke after launch what exactly is her magic computer going to do to it?

If koko wasnt retarded a slightly better idea would have been to put nukes in all of her satellites and then detonate all of them at once blanketing the entire earth in an emp. That would just set the world back because you can still makes guns with basic hand tools and tyrone can still stab you.

I swear I just watched the 2 seasons a few weeks ago and thought of opeing a thread how retarded I find the series. Black lagoon is so much better. Here are my major problems with it:

Basically any development of weapons and stuff that the US military uses is done on computers with a private building-wide network that has all the resources they could need, and zero connection to the internet. Employees have physical key cards to swipe in order to log onto these computers. I agree when you say there should be all types of games but there is clearly an oversaturaion of moralfaggotry in video games. Now even with SJW bullcrap beeing forced down your throat. It it like nothing can be fun anymore, everything has to have moral meaning and no fun allowed. White knight games are okay but those games should be rooted mostly in jrpg genre and stuff like zelda.

GTA has the right approach but it does not have the deep storytelling you would expect from a game like this. Even for a mafia genre it is too lighthearted and casual. Even the people you hang out with end up betraying you or just beeing casual aquaintances instead of people from your brotherhood. This is what RGG does much better (see Nishki/Kiryu and Saejima/Majima relationships). Then there are some generic "whack this guy" and "steal this shit" missions and the free ride mode. I don't really know what I wanted from the show but I don't think I got anything outside of a fetish. The action wasn't impressive and it's moreso because you have 9 supposed badasses and you can't really throw any threats at that unless you're killing them off or actually showing them under pressure instead of playing off some dude getting shot in the ass a few times, or having them joke like they're in a playground and the action itself jumps between "we're so tacitcool look at us" to black lagoon style, while failing miserably at both.

The slice of life parts weren't interesting because they were mostly too short and served no purpose towards Jonah or any of the team as character development and were more towards forgettable comedy.

The arms dealing was lame because Koko is this supposed omnipotent god who can outfox anyone without actually showing how she does it in satisfying detail and there's the whole part about her dealing arms to achieve world peace. So it wasn't Lord of War the anime.

So what the fuck is it? What was it trying to be? Why are the muscle girls so fucking attractive? Who knows.
