The shota was part of the story but the episode wasn't about him, it was about Natsume and Ren. It starts with them having a bit of a quarrel, is about Ren worrying that an other "girl" might steal Natsume away and get's resolved with the reveal that there was never reason for her to worry. Doubly so even, as it ends with Natsume basically stating again that their love is mutal and that she won't allow anybody to steal Ren away.
Same with the drunk. It's all fun and games, until somebody messes with Nacchan's waifu.

Yes, you're basically right about all that, but that doesn't mean those are things someone may hope for in a show. When there are only 12 episodes a guy can be a little put off when worst couple (subjective, I know) basically steal an episode or something like that. Just imagine if Urara had one single entire episode devoted to, I don't know, an eccentric chef who made that curry from that one time, instead of what made the show so great. I know it's insensitive to say this, but if Urara had 100 episodes no one would give a shit about the curry chef one, while 1 or 2 out of 12 is harder to tolerate. >>771628 is on the shota-stomping extreme, sure, but I bet the average viewer didn't enjoy eps. 3 and 11 as much as the others.
