That's because Style trumps over Substance all day. It had the pretty graphics, pretty girls and simple but emotional music. Key is meme anime in its purest form.

I wouldn't call Key meme anime, but the whole production came off as downright manipulative. Far more so than other Key works since it just felt so damn unearned in Angel Beats' case. I could see it working as a VN but I haven't checked it out since they seem to be dragging ass producing the thing.
