The ending was delayed and then I was disappointed by it, but the rest of the show more than made up for it. I notice they didn't make any reference to Black or White in this new episode; I heard they were anime original characters, and the ending was an anime original as well. It makes we wonder what sort of a plot this one will have, if any: the first season was best when it was episodic adventures in my opinion.

Not sure if you notice but at the end of the episode White or Mary makes a little cameo for a bit so they might continue on the King of Despair thing at some point, but by the opening it seems they might adapt from the manga for now.

Also didnt Leo lost his eyes in the 1st season original ending? If White appears here then that means he still shouldnt have his eyes... I honestly can't remember.

I loved the OST for the first season but I'm not optimistic. I was kind of disappointed by the opening and ending, and I don't recall anything in this episode standing out like Catch Me If You Can (or Dust. God, Dust was a good track) did. I'm going to watch it anyway, especially since I think starting with a single-episode adventure rather than implying some overarching story bodes well for the direction of the series, but a good soundtrack makes a show immortal.

Lots of very good Chains in this ending and preview. Chain episode next?

I could not get the smile off my face throughout most of this episode. I think there's a lot of cool history to be looked at between Klaus and Stephen, especially since they were vampire hunters before the Great Collapse. Raises a lot of questions about Klaus still having fangs, though I guess we know the Alterworld still made occasional incursions on the human world before.

>>744588

Nah, they got Unison Square Garden to do it this time. They did the ED for last season, if you can't remember, which I enjoyed.

I've revised my opinion on the ED, especially now that I've realised they got Okamura Yasuyuki, the guy that did the Space Dandy opening, to do the singing. Now that I look back on it, Kekkai Sensen at its best is very Space Dandy-esque, with the nearly random plots that always seem to go back to normal by the start of the next episode. Probably not going to have all the main characters explode at the end of the episode, though.

This season feels a lot darker than the last one. I was actually hit pretty hard by how bad Stephen must have it, they never really went into how their social lives are pretty much ruined by working for Libra last time. I guess they just have to make do with the other guys they work with, like the party in Blood Line Fever. It even makes his relationship with his maid pretty threatening, if she can read how he's feeling.

Let the experiences in this episode be lessons to us all:

>never trust whores, sorcerers, or whorecerers

>treat Chain well and don't challenge her to drinking contests, because you will lose

>keep your friends close, and your enemies closer

>less-lethal armaments aren't guarantees, so you might as well carry a gun (assuming you're not a blood mage)

>drink responsibly

I don't know if I was just hyping the Chain episode up too much for myself, but this episode felt pretty weak overall.

I think what it was, was that they didn't have time to set up any connections or callbacks. The second episode (with Klaus and Steven defending the hospital) worked because they proved that they couldn't fight the vampire before, but can with the help of their new allies. It shows growth while also proving the bad guys' strength. This episode had none of that. We see the werewolves' sweet superspy dilution skills, cool. Then we get a villain being powered up for absolutely no reason, narrative wise, because we didn't see how strong she was before making a contract with this Blood Breed Elder 13 dude we've never heard of before, so we've got no baseline. She had some relation to the rest of the werewolves, but we never saw any of that. They don't react at all when they find out she's their old workmate. It's meaningless. She might as well not have existed and the vampire just intervened on his own. And then finally we get Chain pulling off some ultimate forbidden technique where she erases herself from existence but we aren't told anything about it before she's literally in the process of doing it. It's like they jammed a whole cour of a completely different show in.

The worst thing is that I think it could have been salvaged if they didn't include the completely meaningless subplot about Burgershroom having a bad memory. Maybe it was supposed to show how Chain is actually a nice person, but we already knew that after seeing her get Leo's wallet back last episode. Instead of getting even a few minutes more setup and execution of the main plot, we see Burgershroom being completely fucking retarded in a way he never was before for no given reason. The pacing was just fucked. I like the little guy, but that's no reason to ruin an episode for him.

>>751350

Fairly sure it was Steven specifically, given how she was blushing after she got a phone call from him. I mean, the ultimate proof is that she went all tsuntsun when he saw how messy her room was. Girl definitely knows how to drink, though. Blue Moon is a lovely beer.

Examples? I thought one of the first season's best strengths was the way they played down a lot of their techniques, so they felt less like ultimate blood magic powers done at severe risk to themselves and more like everyday tools in their arsenals.

I guess I can see it if you meant that they never really explained their powers, but again, I think that's more in aid of the fact that they would never need to explain them, because their ridiculous named magic powers are just how they do their jobs. Like how a carpenter doesn't explain what he's doing when he's putting a table together, but each of the techniques he uses have names, and if he wanted, he could yell "Timber Joinery Formation Style #310: Wedged Half-Dovetail!", complete with the name hitting the screen word by word.

I don't think people knew she "died". She quite literally disappeared from existence. Steven's reaction of sudden memory loss in front of her apartment kind of alludes to this, with the less than human characters, the two werewolf and a near blood bleed in the background being seemingly less affected, or maybe it's because it's not the werewolf alphas' and klaus' first rodeo with a werewolf "dying"

I don't think it was the embarrassment, it was Steven himself. I read the token as being the one thing that they could be perfectly sure would bring them back from non-existence, the main thing that ties them to the material realm. One of them had their kid, for example. In Chain's case, it's Steven - the emergency plan if she ever doesn't make it back is to have him come over to her place to hang out.

I think the point of the flowers was to show whether she existed or not. If she never existed, she can't have picked the white and pink vase in the first segment with Gilbert, which he put an orange flower in. Later in the episode, before Steven brings her back, the vase changes to a blue one when Gilbert offers Zapp coffee, then it turns back when she returns to existence.

And here I was wondering why did the show made one of the most perceptive members of Libra (as shown with Steven figuring out his "friends" attempt to backstab him last episode entirely from easy-to-miss cues) suddenly got a serious case of Shonen Protagonist Denseness Syndrome. From how the werewolf team's deputy chief (or is it Libra's Deputy Chief? I forgot how the organization's chain of command is set up) instructed, anyone would have picked up the fact they were Chain's token. Turns out he really didn't know Chain at that point--as she had ceased to exist right before he entered her apartment.

I don't really post about it because I don't think there's much to talk about. This show is just generally great in such a way that there isn't much to discuss.

I also kind of like the lack of set-up like this episode had. Cutting the exposition down to a bare minimum or none at all and letting you figure out what's going on without having it being spelled out is pretty refreshing, and it helps add to the idea of this chaotic world it's set in. I think it knows exactly what to leave out because the viewer can assume it anyway so it can maintain the pace and just keep delivering fun scenes instead of having to stop for explanation.

Yeah the werewolf bureau is their own thing that mostly deals with espionage. Chain's a member they loan out to Libra and that explains why Chain has less of a combat role compared to full members of Libra

>Turns out he really didn't know Chain at that point--as she had ceased to exist right before he entered her apartment.

Which is why the whole recovery operation was ranked a full emergency. I believe that if time drags on too long, even the werewolves would had forgotten chain ever existed until someone goes to audit the tokens.

I didn't realize Chain was part of a werewolf brigade, or that she wasn't actually a werewolf. As in she doesn't change into a wolf or anything. These three make the best team, was nice to see Zapp take a break from his status as perpetual joke character to get a moment to be "cool" once more. Also Chain making a lot more use of her dematerialization power this episode. Did we ever know Zed was an artificial man/fish hybrid, or that he needed a rebreather? The foreshadowing of the reverse fishbowl in the flash back was great, naturally if his mentor could do that he could teach Zed as well. Those old-fashioned energy lines sticking out of the robot before it exploded were a nice touch, as well. Overall a nice episode, great to see more of Zapp and Chain.

As far as zapp's master puts it in the first season, zapp's application of the art is barely scratching the surface of what his master can do, and apparently it's alluded that he's at least as strong as klaus in a fight if not even stronger since klaus himself doesn't know how strong Zapp's master actually is. To make things worse, Zapp and Zed's master is so strong that he seemed to have taught Zapp and Zed completely different sides of the big dipper school based on their fighting style and skills.

I find the amount of Chain this episode to be most comfortable

This week's episode featured a very important lesson on the dangers of bullying and of taking shady treatments from interdimensional microscopic mad scientists.

This season has been entirely episodic so far, and every episode is fantastic, so you're really missing out, Anon.

Also this episode reminded me of that old /fit/ comic.

I feel like this season is a little weaker than last season, if only because of the lack of an overarching plotline. I know the Black/White thing was contrived and anime original, but it gave some loose sense of events going on in the background that were leading up to something big.

The episodic format has been good for character development – especially given that we knew more or less nothing about anyone in Libra that isn't Leo – but a big chunk of this season has been 'it's a Chain/Gilbert/etc. episode.' Given that we know what the big finale is going to be, I'm not really sure they should have done this so far into the series. We've already had the payoff of these characters doing cool shit before they've been properly developed, even though these development episodes are really good. Now there's not much time left to show them off.

If anyone has read the mango, you'd know based on some stills in the ED that this season is going to end with the prostheses of the gods collector that's stalking his sister. Given that that arc is focused almost entirely on Leo (and how he puts his full trust in Libra), the backstory-of-the-week thing feels more like filler as they pick and choose chapters to adapt and fill space. If they had been dropping hints about the threat to Michella every now and then throughout this season or at least showing her interacting with her fiance, or hell, even just showing her planning her trip to HL, I think there would be a feeling of direction while they've been developing the cast. But they're not doing that.

In a perfect world I would have liked this season to be combined with last season in a 2-cour. Front-load the development episodes and put the Black/White scenes with Leo in, then work that towards the big finale for cour 1. Now that the cast is all fleshed out, then have most of the action-focused, wacky arcane bullshit adventures in the second half with the big finale being the prostheses guy.

I actually loved the lack of an overarching plot because having small isolated incidents fits right in with the chaotic nature of the setting. Somehow it doesn't feel believable when you introduce a big plot that spans multiple episodes where you're asked to believe this is all that's going on and what the characters are focusing on in a setting where we see crazy shit happening constantly without any logic to it. You either put that overarching plot on temporary stand-by and introduce some more minor incidents to fill time which just makes it seem not very urgent or important, or you do just keep following it which makes the world feel uncharacteristically dull and by-the-numbers.

It was a very different view of the American family than whats typically seen. Stop consuming non-anime media will help that feeling. I get the feeling a shitty localization will make the father a stay-at-home type just to push some stupid narrative.

This.

While the world in itself is an amazing background, but the general plot is cliche/bordeline shit and doesn't make sense, so the less of it the better.

That's because we focused heavily on Leo's point of view, who was mostly just dealing with White and Black's business in season 1.

For all the weird freaky shit this show has showcased this is the first time I can remember being really creeped out. The idea of wheelchair-bound, blind Michella, who because she doesn't rely on her eyes is slowly starting to notice her fiance has been replaced with some kind of horrible, chitinous abomination, that she can't even begin to understand, is equally terrifying and heartrending for me. I wondered why she was being so pushy with Leonardo on the phone as I thought it was out of character for her, Leo noticed it too. I'd be upset if I were in her shoes, too.

The fake-fiance doctor guy actually has a pretty cool design. Too bad he found out that Leo is both in Libra, and that he's the secret Libra has to finding out the true names of Blood Breeds in order to seal them. If that secret gets leaked every Blood Breed with be after Leo and his magic eyes.

It's nice after two seasons worth of episodes to finally get some development with the Michella plotline. It was kind of cool to see Black again even though I wasn't a fan of the main plot from last season. No White in sight though, it's a shame. Hopefully we won't have to wait months for the next and final episode. Really want to see how Leo gets himself out of this one, if the secret of his eyes leaks out, and what lasting ramifications if any there will be.

Once again we have Chain arriving late to the party, as useless as usual. Maybe if she'd not drink so much and learn to drive a car she'd get there in time.

 No.773115

This was a much better finale than the first seasons', much of which didn't make much sense. Also we didn't have to wait several months for this one.

I liked this season even better than the first one, it was nice getting these standalone episodes that went more into the details of characters' pasts, lives, etc. They even managed to make me like K.K.. It's too bad Japan didn't feel the same way about this season. From someanithing:

>Kekkaisen s2 v1 sells 4757/2108, total 6,865. 43.1%/43.0% underestimated. Event ticket. Yikes. s1v1wk1 sold 16,955 and 22,208 total.

Wow. Thats a huge drop. 4k is still a lot but the expectations were much higher. I bet it has to do with White/Mary (VA: Rie) having next to no screen time.
