>why is discussion for it so slow?
It's short, there isn't too much to talk about each week. Discussion of the real Sengoku period and how this stacks up would be neat, but I am not an anon who can do that.
No.681943
This show is great and I like learning the history. Thank you for recommending it.
No.682281
I still watch this every week but it kind of feels like a chore at this point. Every episode is about some historical reference which isn't given enough time to be properly explained or carry any sort of impact so it's hard to care, and then they add a bunch of very predictable gags over it.
I think this show could've gone one of two ways: Either have a silly little cute gag anime about a baka shinobi and go all out on the humor and just have the sengoku stuff be a backdrop, or make it about the history and use Chidori as a way to bridge the gaps and connect all of the events presented through a character, in which case the show should've been slower and more serious. As it stands, it feels like it's somewhere in the middle and doesn't really work as either.

>Every episode is about some historical reference which isn't given enough time to be properly explained or carry any sort of impact so it's hard to care
At first I felt that way, but it might be the autism speaking when you feel cheated when the show baits you with the promise of epic battles but ignoring how nobunaga (not as easy as the anime implied) steamrolled the other generals is part of the gag playing on how every other historical shows will glorify each and every general before the clash.
No.688952
For a moment there I was worried they wouldn't show the fight this episode.

Okay, so apparently Chasenmaru becomes Oda Nobutaka and he marries a daughter Kitabatake Tomonori, who is the guy Chidori just fought. So "changing Chidori's life" doesn't mean he marries her at least.

God is the anglo-germanic derivative, while Deus is the latin root.
Even today, the Portuguese still use Deus, so when Christianity was introduced in the 16th century by Francis Xavier, they were probably using it at the time.
Is Sengoku Choujuu Giga loosely based on true stories or lore? I tried to dig it up info awhile back because in episode 1 it has a scene in which Oda shows off his rifle by shooting at his retainers, especially Hideyoshi, and then in Nobunaga no Shinobi's first season (episode 2) they have Nobunaga showing off his gun to Chidori and later shooting at Hideyoshi as a 'retort'. Does the poor monkey always get shot, or was this scene a real event in some capacity?

I want to look that up but I imagine any sources that are going to talk about something as specific as that are not going to be translated and I don't speak enough Japanese to find out.
It might be just a coincidence.
No.712060
>>712052
As far as I can tell, they aren't translated. I know the impossible depths of Jidaifags though, so I was hoping someone would know anyway.
I think it's connected to Obunaga ordering 500 firearms from the Portuguese, possibly a story about when they first arrived. A translated account of multiple Japanese works (Tanagashima) does note how excited and eager Nobunaga was to see the firearms in use or demonstrated.

Under no circumstances is Nobunaga not betrayed. He simply left himself too open at that point in time, and given the nature of his relationship with Akechi, there was bound to be a rebellion at some point or another. This point in time is just the one that was the most fortuitous.
A more interesting question would be what would have come of Mori Ranmaru if he was asked to flee and help Hideyoshi rather than to kill himself. The Mori clan was still relatively important after he died, but the death of both Ranmaru and Nagayoshi meant that the clan's two (highly) talented successors were gone. By most accounts, Ranmaru alone could have been a highly influential and integral figure to Hideyoshi's eventual success or otherwise, a wildcard.
