Maybe LoLK honestly. You get 3 kinds of practice, good hard pacing, and no frustrating or complicated mechanics. PCB and IN are comfy standards too if you want to take it easier.

Thanks, tried SA today (normal, not lunatic) and holy shit it's hard. Every spellcard past 1st stage has some trickery you have to figure out to beat it. Not saying I could handle pure dodging that much better. Actually, what drains my lives and power most are probably random bullets I didn't see.

If you're playing normal then MoF might be good too. You'll git gudder with SA or LoLK though (or UFO, but you said comfy, and red faced rage is not comfy).

this was my experience, the inability to spell or stage practice until beating the thing I couldn't beat eventually demoralized me into quitting

MoF is much more reasonable in difficulty but still harder than PFB or IN, to the point I haven't 1cced on normal yet. I think I could do it if I could die at most once up to the last fight, but Sanae and Aya usually take one each, sometimes two from Sanae.

If you want to start doing 1cc normal runs I recommend DDC. The resource system is pretty simple and showers you with tons of bombs and lives. Not only that, but using bombs is rewarded and dying with bombs is punished, so you're heavily incentivised to bomb.

Being able to deathbomb well and using all your bombs before dying are pretty important for beating games and DDC is good at teaching those habits.

Also the huge number of lives you can earn helps make DDC really easy, going from 0 attempts to 1cc took much less time for me than any other game.
