Ex-con whips out Anthony Weiner’s prison typewriter cartridge and puts it on sale(NYPost.com)

Olivia Land

Who knows what spicy tales could be exposed?

An ex-convict is trying to sell Anthony Weiner’s used prison typewriter cartridge — which he claims could contain blockbuster letters the former congressman wrote during his stay in the slammer.

Derek Thomas, 56, emailed the Daily Beast on Thursday seeking at least $4,000 for the cartridge he said Weiner used while they were both at FMC-Devens in Massachusetts, the outlet reported after turning down the offer.

“I’ve had it for so long. I’ve been making an active effort to market it. I know he was writing to everyone and anyone,” Thomas — who was released just last week — boasted.

“If you unspool it, it’s very easy to read. It’s like a scroll. It’s a Jack Kerouac novel,” he claimed.

Weiner, 59, reported to Devens in November 2017, five months after he was sentenced to 21 months for sending explicit messages to a 15-year-old.

He remained at the medium-security facility until his early release on Valentine’s Day 2019.

Thomas claimed that he used another typewriter near Weiner’s every day for a month, and that the former New York congressman offered him the cartridge when he was done with it, the Daily Beast said.

Instead of using the cartridge, however, Thomas alleged that he “sealed it in a plastic bag” for the next several years.

In his email to the outlet, Thomas suggested that the cartridge might contain some naked truths about Bill and Hillary Clinton, or Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin.

“You’re not allowed to mail stuff out like that from the BOP. But I just got out. So I’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” he told the Daily Beast.

Weiner, however, laughed off Thomas’ suggestion.

The former golden-boy Democrat — whose promising political career fell flat following a series of sex scandals — told the Daily Beast that he had a hard time remembering Thomas, but admitted that the interaction sounded “vaguely familiar.”

“It’s conceivable that I gave it away. When you leave prison, you give away your s–t,” the one-time mayoral candidate shrugged.

The disgraced ex-congressman said he did not remember Thomas.

“There is no Clinton stuff on that cartridge, definitely. Letters to my wife, that would be on there,” he added.

When pressed with an emailed photo of Thomas, Weiner came up short and said he “doesn’t look like anyone” he remembered from Devens, which houses about 900 inmates.

“It could be both my cartridge and also not someone I know,” the WABC77 radio host said.

“Here’s the thing. Typing cartridges were expensive and typewriters were not super available,” Weiner — known in some circles as Carlos Danger — told the Daily Beast. “You bought the cartridges at the commissary … [and] between those and packets of tuna, you would buy the tuna.”

Thomas, for his part, was a prison system veteran by the time Weiner arrived at Devens, the Daily Beast reported.

He was first arrested in March 2012 after authorities found at least 500 child porn images and videos on his computer, his criminal complaint stated.

The cartridge might have details regarding Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, Thomas claimed. AP

Prosecutors in Vermont later discovered that Thomas posed online as a teenage boy in order to coerce a 12-year-old into taking sexually explicit videos in exchange for presents, a press release said.

He pleaded guilty to producing child pornography in December 2013, and was sentenced the following year.

Thomas was moved to FMC-Devens in March 2018, and he stayed there until December 2022, the Daily Beast said, citing the Bureau of Prisons.

Despite Thomas’ suggestion that the cartridge could contain scandalous information, Weiner seemed content to let it all hang out.

“I don’t know what the going price is for a used typewriter cartridge for a former elected official. I didn’t realize those ribbons would be a hot commodity,” he told the Daily Beast.

If anything, Weiner added, the cartridge might be a good opportunity to give a fellow ex-inmate a lift.

“Guy’s got to do what he has to do. People have made careers off of me. Anyway, I can help a brother out, I guess,” he said.

Ex-Honduran president convicted of aiding drug traffickers, using military to enable cocaine to enter US(NYPost.com)

Former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández was convicted Friday in New York of charges that he conspired with drug traffickers and used his military and national police force to enable tons of cocaine to make it unhindered into the United States.

The jury returned its verdict at a federal court after a two week trial, which has been closely followed in his home country.

Hernández, 55, served two terms as the leader of the Central American nation of roughly 10 million people.

He was arrested at his home in Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital, three months after leaving office in 2022 and was extradited to the U.S. in April of that year.

U.S. prosecutors accused Hernández of working with drug traffickers as long ago as 2004, saying he took millions of dollars in bribes as he rose from rural congressman to president of the National Congress and then to the country’s highest office.

Hernández acknowledged in trial testimony that drug money was paid to virtually all political parties in Honduras, but he denied accepting bribes himself.

He noted that he had visited the White House and met U.S. presidents as he cast himself as a champion in the war on drugs who worked with the U.S. to curb the flow of drugs to the U.S.

In one instance, he said, he was warned by the FBI that a drug cartel wanted to assassinate him.

He said his accusers fabricated their claims about him in bids for leniency for their crimes.

“They all have motivation to lie, and they are professional liars,” Hernández said.

But the prosecution mocked Hernández for seemingly claiming to be the only honest politician in Honduras.

During closing arguments Wednesday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacob Gutwillig told the jury that a corrupt Hernández “paved a cocaine superhighway to the United States.”

Defense attorney Renato Stabile said his client “has been wrongfully charged” as he urged an acquittal.

Trial witnesses included traffickers who admitted responsibility for dozens of murders and said Hernández was an enthusiastic protector of some of the world’s most powerful cocaine dealers, including notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, who is serving a life prison term in the U.S.

Hernández, wearing a suit throughout the trial, was mostly dispassionate as he testified through an interpreter, repeatedly saying “no sir” as he was asked if he ever paid bribes or promised to protect traffickers from extradition to the U.S.

His brother Juan Antonio “Tony” Hernández, a former Honduran congressman, was sentenced to life in 2021 in Manhattan federal court for his own conviction on drug charges.

Family of Titan submersible passenger clears out his $1.7M home and auctions OceanGate memorabilia ahead of sale(

Realtor.com

Eight months after “Mr. Titanic” Paul-Henri Nargeolet died in the Titan submersible tragedy, his adult children gathered for the sad task of clearing out his belongings from his last home in Pawling, NY.

Many of his prized possessions, including some of his Titanic memorabilia and OceanGate—the company that operated the doomed sub—merchandise have been put up for sale.

The house at 1018 Route 292 is currently listed for sale for $1.7 million.

In an exclusive interview with Realtor.com®, the seafarer’s youngest daughter, Sidonie Nargeolet, 39, said that when “PH” (as everyone called him) purchased the 2.74-acre property in January 2022, he was excited to own 515 feet of sparkling lakefront on private Lake Whaley in the hamlet of Holmes.

Since Sidonie Nargeolet and her siblings live outside the country, they decided to sell the property and much of their father’s belongings. 8

Since he had good friends who lived there, he was familiar with the area, which is a 90-minute drive to New York City.

“He’d been there to swim on the lake many times,” Sidonie says.

Being around the water was important to Paul-Henri. Not only was it his life’s work as a deep-sea diver and Titanic expert, but he and his wife, Anne Sarraz-Bournet, loved to swim.

“The lake allowed them to do that,” says Regan Andrews, co-agent of the listing with Linda Finn of Houlihan Lawrence Brewster.

A look back at Paul-Henri Nargeolet’s last home—and most treasured possessions

Paul-Henri was the director of underwater research for RMS Titanic, which owns salvage rights to the famous ocean liner’s wreckage.

Before the sudden implosion of the Titan, he had previously led 37 successful expeditions to the site, had supervised the recovery of thousands of artifacts, and was considered to have spent more time at the wreckage than anyone else.

A month after the submersible imploded upon approaching the wreckage, Sidonie first visited the lakefront house.

It was obvious why her water-loving dad had snapped up the home two years earlier for $1.5 million.

The four-bedroom, four-bath, custom-built home came with a beach, dock, shady deck, and expansive views of the lake—the largest in Dutchess County—from practically every room.

“We don’t have enough space to take [many] things into our homes,” says Sidonie, who lives in Andorra, a small county between France and Spain. “We will keep what makes us mostly remember him: things from the sea, frames, and objects representing the Titanic.” 8

“The house is really beautiful,” she says. “It’s peaceful, and the view of the lake is amazing. And the neighborhood is pleasant.”

The children used color-coded tags to keep track of who wanted to take what, including replicas of the White Star Line’s sales brochures for the doomed luxury liner (a group of originals sold at Christie’s for $11,400 in 2006), a copper deep-sea divers helmet called a scaphandre, and other diving and Titanic mementos.

However, no actual artifacts retrieved from the Titanic were in the house, as they were too valuable and placed in museums.

The RMS retained exclusive salvage rights to the wreck under the condition that nothing could ever be sold.

The books, as well as many of his other possessions, will be auctioned off at an estate sale held at the house March 8–11.

“Working with the Titanic was an adventure of a lifetime,” Sidonie says of her father’s lifelong passion. “Recovering artifacts is a real technological challenge. With each dive, there was always something new to discover. Exhibiting Titanic artifacts in museums was a way for him to honor the memories of the passengers, not just the ones that died but also the survivors.”

This story was originally published on Realtor.com, a real estate and rentals site. In addition to homes for sale, you can find rentals like Scottsdale apartments, Austin apartments, Tampa apartments, and more.

Sidonie says she’s happy her father will be remembered as “Mr. Titanic.”

The company is now defunct.

The 77-year-old explorer also left behind daughter Chloe, son Julien, and stepson John Nathaniel Paschall.

Paul-Henri and four others perished aboard the submersible Titan as it approached the wreckage of the Titanic on June 18, 2023.

The wreckage lies about 12,500 feet below sea level off the coast of Newfoundland.

Also aboard were Titanic fanatics Pakastani-British businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son, Suleman; British businessman and aviator Hamish Harding; and the pilot and founder of OceanGate, Stockton Rush.

The DNA scandal that could threaten thousands of criminal cases

By Fox Business

For nearly three decades, Yvonne “Missy” Woods was Colorado’s star forensic scientist, relied on by police and prosecutors to test DNA evidence in the state’s most baffling crimes.

Her work was considered the gold standard by colleagues and helped put away infamous murderers, including the “Colorado Hammer Killer.”

Then, in November, Woods abruptly resigned. The same day, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said it had discovered anomalies in her work during an internal review and was launching a criminal probe.

The unfolding scandal—potentially one of the largest in the history of forensic DNA testing, according to experts—is throwing Colorado’s criminal justice system into chaos. The state said it would need to review and retest approximately 3,000 DNA samples that Woods handled. Public defenders estimate thousands of cases could be affected.

Prosecutors are bracing for numerous legal challenges from people charged or convicted based on Woods’s findings. State lawmakers recently allocated nearly $7.5 million for possible retrials and case reviews, along with the retesting.

At the center of the storm is a mystery: Was Woods just sloppy, or has she been purposefully cutting corners for decades to put people behind bars?

“This is a huge, unprecedented mess,” said George Brauchler, a former district attorney in the Denver suburbs whose office oversaw numerous cases in which Woods testified. “I want to know, what in the world did she do?”

Ryan Brackley, an attorney for Woods, said she is cooperating with the investigation.

“She continues to stand by the reliability and integrity of her work on matters that were filed in court, and particularly in cases in which she testified in court under oath,” he said.

Investigators have released few details and haven’t said what prompted the review that uncovered anomalies in Woods’s work. They also haven’t said when their probe will be complete and whether criminal charges will be filed.

But in a Dec. 5 email to district attorneys across the state, the lab director of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said Woods had in some cases altered data and in others, analyzed samples several times but reported only one result.

As of that date, investigators hadn’t found that any DNA evidence provided by Woods was inaccurate, according to the email.

“CBI Forensic Services continues to review all cases worked by Ms. Woods during her 29-year career,” lab director Shawn West wrote. “The CBI is utilizing all available resources to expedite this process.”

Questioning murder cases

As Colorado prosecutors pore over hundreds of cases that Woods worked on and await results of the investigation, they must consider two nightmare scenarios: Whether any of Woods’s cases ended in a wrongful conviction and whether some people correctly put behind bars must now be retried because of shoddy DNA testing.

Boulder County, Colorado, District Attorney Michael Dougherty 4

“The impact to the confidence and integrity of the justice system—and the work that is going to be required on these cases—is really significant,” said Michael Dougherty, Boulder County’s district attorney. “We will undoubtedly see defendants who’ve been convicted rightfully and justly trying to use this issue to their advantage.”

His office has identified 56 closed cases and 13 open cases in which Woods was a witness or potential witness.

One current case he must contend with is that of Garrett Coughlin, whose trial for allegedly killing three people is set for April.

In November, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation alerted prosecutors that DNA testing conducted by Woods in the case was missing data.

Coughlin’s attorney Mary Claire Mulligan said she wants to know why the problems with Woods’s DNA analysis weren’t caught earlier, a question other defense lawyers have asked as well. Standard criminal-lab protocol requires a forensic scientist’s work on each case to be reviewed by a colleague.

“The fact that this could go on for 20-some years, and not once did it get caught by peer review, this says there is something very wrong with forensic testing in Colorado,” Mulligan said.

State law-enforcement officials have said the problems are limited to Woods and aren’t laboratorywide.

But issues are popping up elsewhere in the state. On March 1, the Sheriff’s Office in Weld County, Colo., said it fired a veteran DNA analyst and will pursue criminal charges against her after anomalies in her work were discovered during the Woods investigation.

A sheriff’s spokeswoman said that while the two inquiries were separate, the state crime lab where Woods worked and the one where this DNA analyst worked have teamed up on cases.

The ‘Hammer Killer’

It was through solving cold murder cases that Woods, 60 years old, earned a reputation as a skilled criminal scientist. She was adept at finding the faintest DNA samples on old crime-scene evidence collected years before the advent of advanced forensics, including clothing and lip balm, according to court documents.

Alex Ewing was convicted of four killings and given four life sentences. 4

One of her most notable cases dates back to 1984, when Bruce and Debra Bennett and their 7-year-old daughter Melissa were found beaten to death with a hammer inside their Aurora, Colo., home. Another woman, Patricia Smith, was raped and fatally beaten with a hammer in her Denver suburban home around the same time.

The identity of the Hammer Killer was unknown until 2018, when Woods helped identify a suspect based on evidence extracted from the crime scenes. The DNA profile matched a man named Alex Ewing, who was already serving a decadeslong prison sentence in Nevada for attempted murder in a pair of bludgeoning attacks.

Keep up with today's most important news

Stay up on the very latest with Evening Update.

With the help of Woods’s testimony, Ewing, who pleaded not guilty, was convicted of the four killings and given four life sentences. He is appealing one of the convictions, and his attorney said the investigation into Woods bolsters their case.

“It really raises significant questions as to the reliability of the DNA evidence, which was the primary evidence that convicted my client,” said lawyer Suzan Trinh Almony. The district attorney’s office in Jefferson County, which prosecuted Ewing in the murder case that he is appealing, said it couldn’t comment because it has also been assigned to prosecute Woods if criminal charges are filed.

Brackley, Woods’s attorney, declined to comment on any specific cases, but said Woods’s work was “beyond reproach.”

‘It all made sense’

Woods has already been named in at least one lawsuit related to her work.

Days after she resigned, attorney Mark Burton filed a federal suit alleging that Woods’s faulty analysis helped put his client James Hunter behind bars.

Hunter was arrested in 2002 after a woman and her 5-year-old daughter living in a Lakewood, Colo., trailer park were sexually assaulted by a man with a sock over his face. The woman said the man’s voice sounded like Hunter.

Woods conducted a microscopic hair comparison that she said placed Hunter at the scene of the crime, according to the suit. But at the request of defense attorneys, the hairs were then tested by an outside lab, which determined they belonged to the victim.

When the error was revealed, Woods told the judge that it was a “blow to her ego,” according to the suit. The case was dismissed.

Then, 10 months later, detectives said they had located another hair. Woods tested it and found it contained DNA from Hunter. He was arrested again and eventually convicted of sexual assault and burglary. He is still in prison today.

“Once we heard about Missy Woods, it all made sense,” Burton, Hunter’s attorney, said.

Shirley MacLaine says ‘the glamours gone out’ of Hollywood: ‘100 percent different’(NYPost.com)

By Ashley Hume, Fox News

Shirley MacLaine is back on the silver screen as she marks a milestone career anniversary this year.

The 89-year-old actress is starring opposite Peter Dinklage in the dark comedy “American Dreamer,” which premiered in theaters on Friday ahead of the 96th Academy Awards. Forty years ago, MacLaine won her first best actress Oscar for her performance in 1983’s “Terms of Endearment” after receiving four previous nominations.

MacLaine, who made her acting debut in 1955, recently told Extra’s Billy Bush that she still loves her profession as much as when she first started in the entertainment industry. However, MacLaine shared that Hollywood has significantly changed over the years with the advent of streaming platforms.

“The glamour’s gone out of it, I’m afraid. I think it’s entirely different,” MacLaine said. “It’s 100% different.”

Bush noted that movie stars’ privacy was more protected by studios in the Golden Age of Hollywood and asked if MacLaine was bothered by the prevalence of “prying eyes” today.

“It’s all right,” she said, “I’m kind of open anyway and I don’t have much to hide.”

“I sometimes have a lot of explaining to do,” MacLaine quipped.

In “American Dreamer,” Dinklage, 54, plays Dr. Phil Loder, a low-paid and frustrated college professor whose dream of becoming a homeowner remains out of reach. He seizes the opportunity when elderly widow Astrid Fanelli (MacLaine) offers to sell her sprawling estate “for pennies,” only to discover that the “deal is too good to be true,” per a logline for the movie.

MacLaine said she was drawn to the role of Astrid since she “liked the way she was dealing with age.”

When asked how she planned to celebrate her milestone 90th birthday in April, MacLaine, who has continued working steadily over the years, explained that she would be busy with her next project.

“I’m going to be on a set,” MacLaine said. “I’ll be in Atlantic City.”

The actress also weighed in on whether achieving the “American Dream” remains a reality for most people.

“I think that we should care more about what the American democracy means,” she responded. “We seem to have forgotten what it means, and I think it’s time we get back into the level of reality of understanding American democracy.”

Dinklage said he found the “notion” of the American Dream “fascinating.” “I think what the point of this movie, though, is: be careful what you obsess over too much because you meet somebody like Shirley and her character and it just completely upends what you’ve always thought and makes you see things a whole new way,” he said.

The “Game of Thrones” star added that he believes viewers will find “American Dreamer” to be “a fresh perspective on romance.”

Though she and Dinklage had never worked together before, MacLaine told Bush that the two “really hit it off.”

For his part, Dinklage said starring alongside the acting icon was “one of the greatest experiences of my career.”

MacLaine made her big screen debut in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1955 black comedy “The Trouble with Harry,” earning the Golden Globe Award for new star of the year – actress. She received her first Academy Award nomination for her role in Vincente Minnelli’s 1958 film “Some Came Running,” starring opposite Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.

Following her early career success, MacLaine skyrocketed to stardom after playing elevator operator Fran Kubelik in Billy Wilder’s 1960 romantic-comedy drama “The Apartment.” She earned her second Oscar nomination for her performance and was heavily favored to win the trophy, but lost to Elizabeth Taylor.

MacLaine was nominated for her third Oscar for her portrayal of the titular prostitute in Wilder’s 1963 film “Irma la Douce.”

Though her acting career declined for a period in the early to mid 1970s, MacLaine and co-director Claudia Wells received an Academy Award nod for best documentary – feature for their 1976 film “The Other Half of the Sky: A China Memoir.”

MacLaine resurged to prominence after starring in 1977’s “The Turning Point.” The actress, who had originally aspired for a career in ballet, earned her fourth Academy Award nomination for her performance as retired ballerina DeeDee Rodgers.

In 1984, MacLaine finally took home her first best actress Oscar after starring as widow Aurora Greenway in Jim Brooks’ “Terms of Endearment.” Her fellow nominees included her co-star Debra Winger, who played her daughter Emma in the family comedy-drama.

Upon accepting her award, MacLaine joked about how long she had waited to receive the honor. “I have wondered for 26 years what this would feel like,” she said. “Thank you so much for terminating the suspense.”

During her acceptance speech, MacLaine noted that she had been looking forward to working with her co-star Jack Nicholson, quipping “to have him in bed was such middle-aged joy.”

MacLaine also remarked on her desire to work with the “turbulent brilliance of Debra Winger.” The pair, who reportedly stayed in character during the film’s entire production, had a notoriously stormy on-set relationship.

“She literally inhabited the character so thoroughly that I thought for four months I had two daughters,” MacLaine said of Winger.

“I’m not going to thank everybody I’ve ever met in my entire life – although, with the way my mind has been going lately probably everybody I’ve ever met in my entire life and in the other life I might have had had something to do with this,” MacLaine said.

She continued, “You know, if ‘Terms of Endearment’ had happened to me five years ago, I think I would have called it a thrilling, commercial, artistic accident. But I don’t believe that anymore.

“I don’t believe there’s any such thing as accident. I think that we all manifest what we want and what we need. I don’t think there’s any difference really between what you feel you have to do in your heart and success. They’re inseparable.”

MacLaine’s Oscars speech is widely considered most memorable for her closing lines. “Films and life are like clay waiting for us to mold it,” she said.

“And when you trust your own insides, and that becomes achievement, it’s a kind of a principle that seems to me is at work with everyone,” MacLaine added. “God bless that principle. God bless that potential that we all have for making anything possible if we think we deserve it.”

“I deserve this. Thank you.”

Since receiving her Oscar, MacLaine has continued to star in major feature films and television projects. She most recently appeared in two episodes of Hulu’s hit mystery comedy-drama series “Only Murders in the Building.”

One of MacLaine’s most memorable roles is from “Steel Magnolias” in which she starred alongside Julia Roberts, Olympia Dukakis, and Dolly Parton. AP

One of MacLaine’s most beloved performances was her turn in the classic 1989 romantic-comedy drama “Steel Magnolias.” Along with MacLaine, the film featured an A-list ensemble cast, including Dolly Parton, Olympia Dukakis, Dolly Parton, Julia Roberts, Sally Field and Daryl Hannah

The film will mark its 35th anniversary this November. During a 2019 interview with People for the 30th anniversary of “Steel Magnolias,” MacLaine shared that she still stays in touch with her co-stars.

“We check in with each other,” MacLaine said. “Not all the time, but we know what we’re doing.”

MacLaine told the outlet that Parton “impressed” the most out of all her acclaimed castmates while they were filming the movie in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

“She was the only one who didn’t complain about the heat,” she recalled with a laugh. “And she was the one wearing the 10-inch heels and the waist cincher of 18 inches. And she never complained about a thing. And a wig that was huge!”

The actress played town grouch Louisa “Ouiser” Boudreaux, the best friend of Dukakis’ character Clairee Belcher. MacLaine said the late “Moonstruck” star, who died at the age of 89 in 2021, was the actress that she was “closest” to on set.

“First off, all our scenes were almost all together,” MacLaine told People. “Julia was going through what she was going through in her young life. And Dolly, I think, was writing songs up in her bedroom in her house, or something.”

Roberts, who was 23 at the time, made her career breakthrough after starring as the young diabetic Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie. Roberts earned her first Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress and won the best supporting actress Golden Globe award.

Though Roberts was a relative newcomer to the industry, MacLaine remembered that she saw the young actress’ star potential from the moment they met.

“We were rehearsing on a sound stage, I can’t remember where, and she walks in,” MacLaine recalled. “And the way she walked into the room and sat down and said hello… I got up from the table and called my agent before we even started to rehearse.”

She continued, “I said, ‘There’s a woman here and she’s going to be a huge star. You should handle her,’ I told him. She was amazing. The energy that she had just walking into the sound stage.”

Single dose of LSD can cut anxiety in half within weeks: ‘Breakthrough’ study(NYPost.com)

Adriana Diaz

A single dose of LSD can cut anxiety in half within weeks, according to the results of a new study conducted by a biopharmaceutical company.

MindMed, a clinical-stage company that develops novel products to treat brain health disorders, revealed the breakthrough findings on Friday.

MindMed declared that just 100 micrograms of MM120 — the salt form of lysergide d-tartrate, a hallucinogen commonly known as LSD — provided lasting relief to patients suffering from generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

GAD is characterized by excessive, persistent, and unrealistic worry about everyday things resulting in fear, persistent anxiety and a constant feeling of being overwhelmed.

Approximately 10% of US adults — about 20 million people — currently suffer from the disorder.

“I’ve conducted clinical research studies in psychiatry for over two decades and have seen studies of many drugs under development for the treatment of anxiety,” Dr. David Feifel, an investigator in the study, said in a statement.

“That MM120 exhibited rapid and robust efficacy, solidly sustained for 12 weeks after a single dose, is truly remarkable.”

100 micrograms of MM120 is classified as a single dose of the drug.

Just that amount led to a 48% rate of remission from generalized anxiety disorder after 12 weeks, MindMed reported.

About 65% of patients saw improvements within three months, the company said.

“The clinical improvement for many patients was more than double what we see with today’s standard of care,” Dr. Daniel Karlin, assistant professor of psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and chief medical officer for MindMed, according to CNN. “This occurred at all levels of anxiety, from moderate all the way up to severe.”

The trial tested doses of 25, 50, 100 and 200 micrograms compared with a placebo without the use of psychotherapy during the session — which most research with MDMA and psilocybin has relied on.

“We’re very confident based on the results that 100 micrograms is the right dose to bring into our phase three studies, as we didn’t see any more improvement with 200 micrograms but did see additional adverse effects,” Karlin said.

Some participants did report mild to moderate symptoms of euphoric feelings, illusions and hallucinations, anxiety, abnormal thinking, headaches, dizziness, nausea, excessive sweating, vomiting, numbness or tingling of the skin, and pupil dilation on the day of the dosage.

The drug will still need to go through the standard FDA approval process and will soon enter phase III trials.

The study also found that MM120 showed “rapid and robust improvement on depression symptoms in people” as “depression and anxiety have overlapping disease definitions,” according to Karlin.

Adams administration offers NYC religious groups up to $54K a month to house migrants(NYPost.com)

Craig McCarthy and Mayor Eric Adams’ administration issued a plea to faith leaders this week, asking them to open their doors to some of the thousands of migrants currently in the city’s care, The Post has learned.

The administration sent out a letter to religious groups across the Big Apple asking for volunteers to provide daytime respite centers for 150 migrants, in exchange for up to $54,000 a month.

It also asked if religious centers would be willing to house 19 other migrants at night, for up to $35,500, according to the letter obtained by The Post.

The first such shelter opened in Queens this week at the Rabbinical Seminary of America Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim, which will provide beds and daily meals to 15 single adults, City Hall confirmed.

The administration hopes the move will help ease the burden of housing the nearly 65,000 migrants currently in city care — with the crisis expected to cost around $10 billion through the next fiscal year.

City Hall argues the faith-based shelter system will come in much cheaper than its current emergency contracts. The average nightly cost of housing migrants came in at $383 last summer, with single adults and families scattered across the city in hotels, shelters and tent cities.

The goal is to have religious institutions provide 50 overnight shelters and five daytime centers for migrants in the coming weeks, an Adams spokesperson confirmed.

“Our response has not only required a whole-of-government effort but also included collaboration with nonprofits, community organizations, volunteers, and the faith community,” City Hall spokesperson Kayla Mamalek said when asked about the initiative.

“As Mayor Adams has said, it is not enough to be parishioners, we must also be practitioners, and congregations that participate in our faith bed program are doing just that.”

The city is willing to shell out up to $54,000 a month for religious centers to open their doors to migrants between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily, to cover janitors, shelter coordinators, security background checks for workers and laundry and other services.

Houses of worship that house migrants overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. can be reimbursed up to $35,500 a month or $65 per person a night for similar operating costs.

Centers will be required to have showers (six single stalls for daytime care and at least two stalls for overnight care) or the ability to add as well as space to prepare meals and for migrants to eat.

Daytime centers will get $5 per person for lunches and snacks while overnight shelters will get just over $6.50 for dinner and breakfast, $3.27 per meal.

In comparison, the city’s controversial no-bid contract with DocGo, a provider of mobile health services, was paying out $11 per meal, many of which were just getting thrown out with migrants saying the food was horrible.

Adams set a goal last month of shaving off another 10% to migrant housing costs, on top of a previous 20% reduction City Hall has already achieved.

The Maspeth faith-based shelter, though, is already receiving blowback more local Councilman Bob Holden, who called the move “completely unacceptable.”

“It’s an absolute disgrace that our city wastes millions on people who shouldn’t be here while our veterans and citizens are left homeless and forgotten,” the Queens Democrat railed.

“City Hall for years ignored a faith-based approach to housing our own, but have no problem rolling out the red carpet for migrants,” he added. “What a travesty.”

Weight-loss drug Wegovy approved by FDA to cut heart attack, stroke risk(NYPost.com)

By Associated Press

The popular weight-loss drug Wegovy, which has helped millions of Americans shed pounds, can now be used to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attacks and other serious cardiovascular problems in patients who are overweight or who have obesity, federal regulators said Friday.

The Food and Drug Administration approved a label change requested by drugmaker Novo Nordisk that expands the use of semaglutide.

The decision was based on the results of a study that found that Wegovy cut the risk of serious heart problems — including heart attack, stroke and heart-related deaths. Higher-weight patients with heart disease but not diabetes were 20% less likely to experience those problems compared with patients who took placebo, or dummy shots, the study found.

The decision was based on the results of a study that found that Wegovy cut the risk of serious heart problems — including heart attack, stroke and heart-related deaths. AP

Wegovy is the first medication approved to help prevent the potentially life-threatening events in this population, the agency said.

“Providing a treatment option that is proven to lower this cardiovascular risk is a major advance for public health,” said Dr. John Sharretts, who directs FDA’s division of diabetes, lipid disorders and obesity.

Explore More

The move will change the way many heart patients are treated, said Dr. Martha Gulati, a cardiologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. It confirms that the new class of obesity medications are useful for improving health, not just losing weight.

“The hope is that insurers will start understanding that this is not a vanity drug,” said Gulati, who estimated that nearly 70% of her heart patients could be eligible for treatment.

Wegovy is a higher-dose version of Ozempic, the diabetes treatment that was previously approved to cut the risk of serious heart problems in people with that disease. The weight-loss drug typically costs about $1,300 a month.

Novo Nordisk has also asked European Union regulators to expand the use of the drug for heart problems. EU regulators have not weighed in on the request.

The FDA cautioned that Wegovy carries the risk of serious side effects, including thyroid tumors and certain cancers. Other possible side effects can include low blood sugar; pancreas, gallbladder, kidney or eye problems; and suicidal behavior or thinking.

About a third of the more than 17,600 participants in the clinical trial reported serious side effects. About 17% in the group that took Wegovy and about 8% of those who received placebo left the study because of those effects.

The new indication could increase coverage of the drug by Medicare, experts said. The federal health insurance program for older Americans is currently barred by law from covering drugs for weight loss alone. The agency spent nearly $3 billion in 2021 covering Ozempic to treat diabetes, according to latest available figures.

“I’m not sure it opens the floodgates, but it would open the door to allow more people on Medicare to gain access to Wegovy,” said Tricia Neuman, a Medicare policy specialist at KFF, a nonprofit that researches health policy.

Private insurers will evaluate the new indication for Wegovy before making coverage decisions, said a spokesperson for AHIP, America’s Health Insurance Plans, an industry trade group.

Drugmakers and obesity advocates have been pushing for expanded coverage, including legislation that would require Medicare to pay for the obesity drugs.

At issue has been whether the cost of the expensive medications will be offset by the savings of reduced spending on medical care related to obesity — and, now, heart disease.

One lingering obstacle to broader use is limited supply of the drug, which has been in shortage for more than a year, according to the FDA. Novo Nordisk officials say they’re working to increase production.

Wider access can’t come soon enough, said Gulati.

“Everybody’s waiting to get this medication,” she said. “Lower the cost, don’t be greedy and make sure the drug is available for use.”

Biden confirms he may refuse to debate Trump: ‘Depends on his behavior’

Steven Nelson

WASHINGTON — President Biden confirmed Friday that he may refuse to debate former President Donald Trump ahead of their anticipated election rematch.

“It depends on his behavior,” the 81-year-old Biden told reporters as he left the White House for a campaign trip to Philadelphia.

Trump, 77, said Wednesday that Biden must agree to debate him — amid suspicion that the incumbent would skip the traditional forums to deny the presumptive Republican nominee relatively unfettered TV air time.

“It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE!”

Trump and Biden had two debates in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic — during which the former reality TV star hectored Biden on policy and on his alleged role in his son and brother’s foreign business dealings.

The former president leads Biden by an average of 1.8% in national polls, according to the RealClearPolitics average, but faces as many as four criminal trials ahead of the election, making for an unprecedented contest.

Trump is also trying to become just the second president to win non-consecutive terms in office, and the first since Democrat Grover Cleveland 132 years ago.

F-35A Becomes First Certified 5th-Gen Fighter To Carry Thermonuclear Gravity Bombs(ZeroHedge.com)

The nuclear deterrence capabilities of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization are set to be significantly enhanced as the US Air Force's newest fifth-generation fighter jet, the F-35A Lightning II, has been operationally certified to be equipped with B61-12 thermonuclear gravity bombs for the first time.

"The F-35A is the first 5th generation nuclear capable aircraft ever, and the first new platform (fighter or bomber) to achieve this status since the early 1990s. This F-35 Nuclear Certification effort culminates 10+ years of intense effort across the nuclear enterprise, which consists of 16 different government and industry stakeholders," F-35 Joint Program Office spokesman Russ Goemaere told military blog Breaking Defense.

Goemaere said, "The F-35A achieved Nuclear Certification ahead of schedule, providing US and NATO with a critical capability that supports US extended deterrence commitments earlier than anticipated."

In 2021, an F-35 dropped a mock nuclear bomb at Sandia National Laboratories' Tonopah Test Range over the Nevada desert.

In late 2022, Germany signed a contract with the US to purchase dozens of F-35s capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Under NATO's nuclear sharing program, Germany has about 20 B61 bombs.

You will find more infographics at Statista

The "dual-capable" stealth fighter that can now carry both conventional and nuclear weapons is replacing fourth-generation fighters in almost all NATO states that participate in nuclear sharing. The F-35's ability to carry modernized B61-12 nuclear bombs will beef up NATO's regional deterrence capabilities and help deter further Russian aggression.

"This move is part of the US expanding effort in and among the US and NATO allies to counter Putin's coercive threats to use nuclear weapons as a means to break our collective strategic resolve against Russia. Putin knows that the F-35 is more than capable of stealthily penetrating his airspace and delivering sensitive payloads," said David Asher, a senior fellow at Hudson Institute.

It remains to be seen how Moscow will react to nuclear-capable F-35s flying near Russian borders and in the Baltic area. Russia also has a fifth-generation fighter jet, the Su-57 fighter, known by NATO as 'Felon.'

Inside The Most Ridiculous Jobs Report In History: Record 1.2 Million Immigrant Jobs Added In One Month(ZeroHedge.com)

Tyler Durden's Photo

BY TYLER DURDEN

FRIDAY, MAR 08, 2024 - 01:30 PM

Last month we though that the January jobs report was the "most ridiculous in recent history" but, boy, were we wrong because this morning the Biden department of goalseeked propaganda (aka BLS) published the February jobs report, and holy crap was that something else. Even Goebbels would blush.

What happened? Let's take a closer look.

On the surface, it was (almost) another blockbuster jobs report, certainly one which nobody expected, or rather just one bank out of 76 expected. Starting at the top, the BLS reported that in February the US unexpectedly added 275K jobs, with just one research analyst (from Dai-Ichi Research) expecting a higher number.

Some context: after last month's record 4-sigma beat, today's print was "only" 3 sigma higher than estimates. Needless to say, two multiple sigma beats in a row used to only happen in the USSR… and now in the US, apparently.

Before we go any further, a quick note on what last month we said was "the most ridiculous jobs report in recent history": it appears the BLS read our comments and decided to stop beclowing itself. It did that by slashing last month's ridiculous print by over a third, and revising what was originally reported as a massive 353K beat to just 229K, a 124K revision, which was the biggest one-month negative revision in two years!

Of course, that does not mean that this month's jobs print won't be revised lower: it will be, and not just that month but every other month until the November election because that's the only tool left in the Biden admin's box: pretend the economic and jobs are strong, then revise them sharply lower the next month, something we pointed out first last summer and which has not failed to disappoint once.

To be fair, not every aspect of the jobs report was stellar (after all, the BLS had to give it some vague credibility). Take the unemployment rate, after flatlining between 3.4% and 3.8% for two years - and thus denying expectations from Sahm's Rule that a recession may have already started - in February the unemployment rate unexpectedly jumped to 3.9%, the highest since February 2022 (with Black unemployment spiking by 0.3% to 5.6%, an indicator which the Biden admin will quickly slam as widespread economic racism or something).

And then there were average hourly earnings, which after surging 0.6% MoM in January (since revised to 0.5%) and spooking markets that wage growth is so hot, the Fed will have no choice but to delay cuts, in February the number tumbled to just 0.1%, the lowest in two years…

… for one simple reason: last month's average wage surge had nothing to do with actual wages, and everything to do with the BLS estimate of hours worked (which is the denominator in the average wage calculation) which last month tumbled to just 34.1 (we were led to believe) the lowest since the covid pandemic…

… but has since been revised higher while the February print rose even more, to 34.3, hence why the latest average wage data was once again a product not of wages going up, but of how long Americans worked in any weekly period, in this case higher from 34.1 to 34.3, an increase which has a major impact on the average calculation.

While the above data points were examples of some latent weakness in the latest report, perhaps meant to give it a sheen of veracity, it was everything else in the report that was a problem starting with the BLS's latest choice of seasonal adjustments (after last month's wholesale revision), which have gone from merely laughable to full clownshow, as the following comparison between the monthly change in BLS and ADP payrolls shows. The trend is clear: the Biden admin numbers are now clearly rising even as the impartial ADP (which directly logs employment numbers at the company level and is far more accurate), shows an accelerating slowdown.

But it's more than just the Biden admin hanging its "success" on seasonal adjustments: when one digs deeper inside the jobs report, all sorts of ugly things emerge… such as the growing unprecedented divergence between the Establishment (payrolls) survey and much more accurate Household (actual employment) survey. To wit, while in January the BLS claims 275K payrolls were added, the Household survey found that the number of actually employed workers dropped for the third straight month (and 4 in the past 5), this time by 184K (from 161.152K to 160.968K).

This means that while the Payrolls series hits new all time highs every month since December 2020 (when according to the BLS the US had its last month of payrolls losses), the level of Employment has not budged in the past year. Worse, as shown in the chart below, such a gaping divergence has opened between the two series in the past 4 years, that the number of Employed workers would need to soar by 9 million (!) to catch up to what Payrolls claims is the employment situation.

There's more: shifting from a quantitative to a qualitative assessment, reveals just how ugly the composition of "new jobs" has been. Consider this: the BLS reports that in February 2024, the US had 132.9 million full-time jobs and 27.9 million part-time jobs. Well, that's great… until you look back one year and find that in February 2023 the US had 133.2 million full-time jobs, or more than it does one year later! And yes, all the job growth since then has been in part-time jobs, which have increased by 921K since February 2023 (from 27.020 million to 27.941 million).

Here is a summary of the labor composition in the past year: all the new jobs have been part-time jobs!

But wait there's even more, because now that the primary season is over and we enter the heart of election season and political talking points will be thrown around left and right, especially in the context of the immigration crisis created intentionally by the Biden administration which is hoping to import millions of new Democratic voters (maybe the US can hold the presidential election in Honduras or Guatemala, after all it is their citizens that will be illegally casting the key votes in November), what we find is that in February, the number of native-born workers tumbled again, sliding by a massive 560K to just 129.807 million. Add to this the December data, and we get a near-record 2.4 million plunge in native-born workers in just the past 3 months (only the covid crash was worse)!

The offset? A record 1.2 million foreign-born (read immigrants, both legal and illegal but mostly illegal) workers added in February!

Said otherwise, not only has all job creation in the past 6 years has been exclusively for foreign-born workers…

Source: St Louis Fed FRED Native Born and Foreign Born

… but there has been zero job-creation for native born workers since June 2018!

This is a huge issue - especially at a time of an illegal alien flood at the southwest border…

… and is about to become a huge political scandal, because once the inevitable recession finally hits, there will be millions of furious unemployed Americans demanding a more accurate explanation for what happened - i.e., the illegal immigration floodgates that were opened by the Biden admin.

Which is also why Biden's handlers will do everything in their power to insure there is no official recession before November… and why after the election is over, all economic hell will finally break loose. Until then, however, expect the jobs numbers to get even more ridiculous.

Faulty US Aid Drop Kills At Least 5 Palestinians In Gaza City(ZeroHedge.com)

At least five Palestinians were killed and one other wounded after a faulty aid drop in Gaza City on Friday. The casualties occurred following a botched attempt to drop humanitarian assistance from a plane, which ended up landing in a residential area in Sheikh Radwan, northwest of Gaza City, according to Al-Jazeera.

Videos captured by local journalists showed over a dozen packages dropped from a plane falling at a great speed near the al-Fayrouz Towers area.

A military plane drops humanitarian aid over northern Gaza on March 7, via AFP.

The Palestinian media office in Gaza confirmed that five people had been killed, and criticized the use of air drops to deliver aid. "These operations are useless and not the best way to bring in aid, and we demand the opening of land crossings to bring in thousands of tons of aid immediately and urgently," it said.

"Dropping aid in this way takes on a showy and propaganda character rather than a humanitarian [one]," the media office added. "We warned previously that they pose a death threat to the lives of citizens in the Gaza Strip, and that is what happened."

An eyewitness told Al-Jazeera on Friday: "People were waiting for the drops when they noticed they were coming in fast. So a group of people took cover in a construction site."

"One of the packages fell atop the site, causing it to collapse, killing and wounding people inside. I rushed to help the people inside when I realized my cousin was among them. He is now dead."

Airdropping aid is used when all other alternatives fail, and when a population desperately needs life-saving aid while it is cut off from the world.

So far, Jordan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and France have coordinated with Israel to airdrop aid in different areas of the blockaded Gaza Strip. The US on Sunday carried out its first humanitarian aid airdrop in Gaza with more than 30,000 meals parachuted in by three military planes. The operation was reportedly carried out jointly with Jordan's air force.

Watch: some of the crates sound like bombs when they hit the ground at high speed…

Palestinians have said that airdropped aid quantities are too small in comparison to the needs of a starving population in Gaza.

"It is pointless," Ahmad Mansour, a Palestinian in the south of Gaza, told Middle East Eye earlier this week. "A lot of the aid ended up in the sea or areas controlled by the Israeli army. You have got thousands of people running towards a few parcels of aid. They are playing games with us."

"I cannot understand why the world cannot pressure Israel to allow humanitarian aid trucks in," Mansour continued. "Why can humanitarian aid workers not be protected to distribute the aid fairly? Is the new motto: 'We will eat and get medicine only if we are lucky enough to catch something falling from the sky'?"

House Democrats Press Musk’s SpaceX On Claims Russian Forces Have Starlink Systems (ZeroHedge.com)

Authored by Ryan Morgan via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),

House Democrats are pressing SpaceX and its CEO, Elon Musk, for answers on allegations coming from Ukrainian intelligence officials that Russian forces are using SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service in their ongoing war with Ukraine.

On Wednesday, March 6, House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) and Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) sent a letter to SpaceX Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell, calling for her to address how Russian forces may have obtained SpaceX terminals.

Starlink terminals connect to SpaceX’s constellation of thousands of satellites operating in low Earth orbit. SpaceX began supplying thousands of Starlink terminals to Ukraine after Russian invasion forces entered the country in February 2022, helping keep Ukraine online even as Russian attacks degraded their existing telecommunications and internet infrastructure.

Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) first raised concerns about Russian forces using the Starlink service on Feb. 11. GUR spokesman Andriy Yusov stated at the time that Ukrainian intelligence officials had intercepted radio transmissions in which Russian soldiers described widespread use of the satellite internet service around the contested Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.

“This is starting to become systemic,” Mr. Yusov said of Russia’s alleged use of the Starlink service.

Mr. Musk has denied the allegations, stating, “To the best of our knowledge, no Starlinks have been sold directly or indirectly to Russia.”

But Mr. Raskin and Mr. Garcia are continuing to press the question. The two lawmakers noted a report last month by the U.S. Department of Commerce, which said “Russia routinely relies on evasive or deceptive tactics such as the use of third-party intermediaries or transshipment points” to evade U.S. export controls against the country.

The two lawmakers noted Mr. Musk’s denial, but reiterated Mr. Yusov’s characterization of Russia’s Starlink usage as “systemic.”

“We are concerned that you may not have appropriate guardrails and policies in place to ensure your technology is neither acquired directly or indirectly, nor used illegally by Russia,” their letter to Ms. Shotwell reads.

The Democrats called on SpaceX to reveal how many reports or complaints it has received alleging Russian use of the Starlink service, as well as how many of those complaints the company investigated. The lawmakers also pressed SpaceX to explain its review process for such complaints, detail its safeguards against illicit acquisitions of Starlink terminals, what measures SpaceX advises to take when it determines an actor has illicitly acquired a Starlink terminal, and what work SpaceX has taken on its own and with the U.S. federal government to prevent such illicit acquisition and use of Starlink services. The lawmakers called on Ms. Shotwell to provide SpaceX’s response by March 20.

How Russia May Have Obtained Starlink Terminals

Not cited in the Democrats’ March 6 letter is a Feb. 13 blog post in which Ukraine’s GUR service posits intermediaries in Arab countries may be facilitating the transfers of Starlink terminals to Russian forces. That blog post describes an audio recording in which a Russian “occupier” is quoted as saying “the Arabs bring everything: wires, Wi-Fi, router… .” According to the GUR blog post, this same Russian individual reportedly went on to say the cost to obtain a Starlink device is 200,000 Russian Rubles (about $2,200).

While the GUR shared an audio recording in their Feb. 11 blog post, they did not provide the audio recording described in the Feb. 13 blog post, which might provide further clarity about how Starlink terminals may be ending up in Russian hands.

NTD News reached out to Mr. Raskin and Mr. Garcia’s offices, seeking more details about what evidence is guiding their SpaceX probe. Neither lawmaker’s office responded by press time.

More than two years on, the war between Russia and Ukraine has seen territory repeatedly change hands. Defense materials, from combat vehicles to weapons systems and items like Starlink terminals, may also see changes in ownership throughout the course of the fighting.

Among NTD News’ list of questions for Mr. Garcia was whether he and Mr. Raskin had ruled out the possibility that Russian forces had acquired Starlink terminals from defeated Ukrainian troops.

NTD News also reached out to SpaceX for comment about the possibility of Starlink terminals being captured on the battlefield, as well as evidence it may have of illicit transfers of these terminals through intermediaries. Likewise, SpaceX did not respond by press time.

DC Court Greenlights Flurry Of Jan. 6 Lawsuits Against Trump(ZeroHedge.com)

Authored by Tom Ozimek via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),

A federal appeals court in the District of Columbia has issued an order allowing three Jan. 6 lawsuits to proceed against former President Donald Trump after a court rejected his assertion of presidential immunity.

A three-judge panel at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit issued an order on March 8, allowing the three consolidated appeals to be “removed from abeyance” and approving motions for summary affirmance, meaning removing a temporary hold on the cases and allowing them to proceed.

The lawsuits that are now allowed to proceed are Moore v. Trump, Kirkland v. Trump, and Tabron v. Trump.

In all three civil suits, law enforcement officers are seeking damages based on the premise that President Trump incited a mob to storm the Capitol, leading to a violent incident in which they sustained various injuries and suffered harm, including emotional distress.

President Trump has denied calling for violence on Jan. 6, pointing to remarks he made encouraging his supporters to demonstrate “peacefully and patriotically.”

‘Matters of Public Concern’

The judges noted in their March 8 order that the merits of the three parties’ positions “are so clear as to warrant summary action,” and that the cases can proceed based on a Dec. 1 appeals court decision in Blassingame v. Trump that President Trump is not immune to lawsuits over the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol.

In Blassingame v. Trump, the former president’s attorneys had argued that he should be granted immunity because his alleged actions around Jan. 6 amounted to official speech on “matters of public concern.”

The judges’ reasoning in that case was that the former president’s actions leading up to and on Jan. 6 were part of his campaign for a second term in the White House and not an official presidential act.

“In arguing that he is entitled to official-act immunity in the cases before us, President Trump does not dispute that he engaged in his alleged actions up to and on January 6 in his capacity as a candidate. But he thinks that does not matter,” U.S. Circuit Judge Sri Srinivasan, appointed under President Barack Obama, wrote in the Dec. 1 ruling.

“Rather, in his view, a president’s speech on matters of public concern is invariably an official function, and he was engaged in that function when he spoke at the January 6 rally and in the leadup to that day. We cannot accept that rationale.”

Later, a similar order denying presidential immunity in Jan. 6 cases was issued on Dec. 29, in a lawsuit filed in 2021 by Capitol Police veteran Conrad Smith and seven of his colleagues.

“On appeal, the only question is whether President Trump has demonstrated his entitlement to official-act immunity,” reads the Dec. 29 order, which was signed by a three-judge panel consisting of Judge Srinivasan and Judges Judith Rogers and Gregory Katsas.

The judges in that case laid out a similar rationale for denying President Trump’s argument that he should be protected from liability because his statements and actions on Jan. 6 amounted to making statements that are of concern to the public.

“That argument fails” because President Trump’s commentary and actions around Jan. 6 bear “no inherent connection to the essential distinction between official and unofficial acts” because they were not part of his official duties to share “matters of public concern,” the judges wrote, concluding he’s ineligible for presidential immunity.

In the Dec. 29 ruling, the judges also cited the Blassingame v. Trump judgment and said the case brought by Mr. Smith and his colleagues is “indistinguishable” in all relevant aspects, so they issued what amounts to an identical determination that President Trump is not immune from civil lawsuits related to Jan. 6.

A request for comment on the Dec. 29 judgment sent to the Trump campaign was not returned before press time.

The former president is entitled to request a rehearing before a full panel of judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals in the immunity case. He could also appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

However, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear President Trump’s appeal in a separate federal criminal case alleging election interference, which was brought by special counsel Jack Smith.

President Trump’s appeal in this case also claims immunity, with the Supreme Court set to hear oral arguments during the week of April 22.

A determination on presidential immunity by the Supreme Court could have implications for the lawsuits that the District of Columbia appeals court just allowed to proceed.

‘Peacefully and Patriotically’

Even though President Trump said in his Jan. 6 speech that protesters should “peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard,” his critics have seized on a portion of his remarks where he said “we fight like hell” and “if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.” Critics claim this was a call for violence.

The former president has, on numerous occasions, denied calling for violent protests while insisting he meant his remarks about fighting like hell metaphorically.

In one of the Jan. 6 cases against the former president, Smith v. Trump, the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights filed the lawsuit on behalf of Mr. Smith and seven of his colleagues, arguing that President Trump deliberately incited violence against members of Congress and law enforcement officers whose duty was to protect them.

President Trump has rejected the claim that he in any way incited violence on Jan. 6, 2021, pointing to remarks he made that called for demonstrators to protest peacefully. In a bid to dismiss the lawsuit, his attorneys argued that the complaint should be tossed because he, as president, was eligible for immunity.

The court rejected President Trump’s bid to have the case dismissed, however, leading eventually to the Dec. 29 judgment that his remarks on Jan. 6 were not official acts as president, so the immunity shield doesn’t apply.

Rise of the NEW media (T.me) A lot of people have figured out "PATRIOT FRONT" are fed boys in "clever" disguise.

But for some strange reason, the false trail laid down where SOROS & WEF are 'funding Antifa' keeps people from realizing that Antifa is ALSO fed boys in clever disguise.

Have you figured out yet why Antifa was never cracked down on even in 2020 as they were rioting and destroying property & engaging in numerous violent assaults?

THEY ARE FEDS.

THEY ARE OUR OWN GOVERNMENT'S OPERATIVES.

Take the poll below.

Yes, you knew Antifa was Operation Gladio feds in disguise

or

No, you didn't realize this until today.

SNN (T.me) BREAKING 🚨 "The federal government has been illegally surveilling and building profiles for Americans in secret portal called DSAC for those who oppose firearm restrictions, lockdowns & vaccine mandates, and or support border security and are labeling them as domestic extremists.

Domestic Security Alliance Council (DSAC) w/ FBI & DHS bases profiles entirely off political beliefs, working w 650 companies to gather data on Americans using merchant category codes to flag people who shop at Bass Pro Shop, Cabela’s, and or purchased religious text.

The FBI/DHS has been requesting personal financial information from banks without warrants to create these profiles, and keep tabs on Americans who dissent from the government." (Patrick Webb)

MJTRUTH (T.me) Col Douglas MacGregor - This is the REAL State of the Union

Missing children, Cancerous Central Banks, Sound Money, Reclaiming our Sovereignty… This was pure 🔥🔥

🔴 Our Constitution….

Mandates that government promote the general welfare of securing the basic necessities of life… energy, food, and shelter

—— the Biden Administration is failing in this task.

🔴 Our Gross Domestic Product…

Is not booming.

—— but most of it comes from Government spending and employment

—— the Gov share of GDP in the US is 42%, including federal, state, and local spending… similar to the Soviet Union before it collapsed.

🔴 Our Rampant Inflation….

Makes it difficult for families to buy nutritious food and afford to life a prosperous life.

—— food has skyrocketed

—— high mortgage interest rates

—— high energy costs etc

🔴 Our National Security…

Is compromised…

—— unstable supply chains

—— power plants and manufacturing facilities lack key spare parts

—— domestic policies result in job loss and homelessness

—— misguided military interventions draining our resources

—— energy independence has been destroyed and subjecting is to foreign influence.

—— we are averaging adding $1 trillion in debt every three months

“DC beltway politicians are controlled by the so-called “donor class.

This form of corruption is enabled by a cancerous Central Banking System.

With privileged access to capital, this ruling class orchestrates endless wars, enriching themselves and their cronies”

🔴 OUR OPEN BORDER…

is allowing millions of illegals to flood into the country.

—— this is straining our resource’s

—— this is overwhelming our communities and destroying our prosperity

—— 100+ thousand Americans die each year from fentanyl

🔴 OUR POLICE OFFICERS…

are underfunded and unmanned and unable to protect American citizens.

—— there’s an explosion of criminality

—— they call to defund police

—— our cities are unsafe

🔴 OUR CHILDREN…

are under attack and missing!

—— 800,000 children go missing every year. 2k children every day.

—— they are being exploited and sexualized in public schools.

🔴 OUR BATTLE WITH COVID…

was engineered to enrich the 1%.

—— trillions of dollars wasted

—— the “laptop class” 🤔 and Silicon Valley, WallStreet, and Big Business gathered much wealth

🔴 OUR BATTLE WITH THE GREEN NEW SCAM

—— trillions have been wasted.

—— metals are mined in Africa and processed in China

—— we are destroying countless American jobs and ignoring our domestic resources.

🔴 WHERE DOES AMERICA GO FROM HERE?

—— secure our borders, airports, and harbors.

—— unless the US attacked, avoid unnecessary conflict.

—— restore rule of law! Remove activist judges who refuse to uphold of the constitution, release violent illegals and criminals into the US.

—— revisit the practice of judicial appointments for life.

—— merit based selection and promotion in the Military.

—— fundamental reform to reduce overhead and maximize fighting power.

—— revitalize our economy and harness American innovation.

—— restore energy independence

—— reinvigorate American agriculture and incentivize family farmers and producers

—— outlaw foreigners and venture capitalists from buying American farmland

—— restore trade advanced manufacturing to the American heartland.

—— make public education a path to employment

—— one time tax exemptions for American companies and individuals

—— eliminate the large staffing at federal agencies

—— audit the Federal reserve

—— restructure our national debt

—— reclaim our birthright as a FREE AND SOVEREIGN PEOPLE

MJTRUTH (T.me) 🚨College Universities are Teaching Students Eco-Terrorism

• At least 16 State Tax Payer Universities are teaching Students how to BLOW UP pipelines

• A Snippet from a book students are required to read…

“demolish them, burn them, blow them up. Let the capitalists who keep investing in the Fire know their properties will be trashed.”

• 23 Government Agencies say the film adopted from the book can spark domestic terrorism….

Great…. Pink haired soy boy terrorists… 🤦🏻‍♂️

🔴 IT’S NOT JUST COMING FROM UNIVERSITIES

• It’s coming from our Government, NPR, Bloomberg, New York Times, and NASA

—— NASA‘s Lead “Global Warming” Scientist endorsed ideas rid the world of industrial civilization, like blowing up dams

—— NYT touted the book as a “new way to think” and argued for Strategic Acceptance of Property Destruction.

—— Bloomberg’s thinks the climate movement needs to embrace property destruction.

These people are nuts…
