When and why did clean minimalism become part of what people view as the cyberpunk aesthetic and how do we stop it?

Minimalism is for trendy shazbots

Dirt, grit, technology, clutter, actual utilitarian structure (not ugly useless minimalism) et cetera make a livingspace cyber

Pic related, real cyberpunk living spaces

Minimalism is mostly for the braindead masses that got confused of all the shit nowadays.

If you want to pass your message today it has to be in a minimal design, making it seem a "heaven of relaxation" compared to the chaotic energy of everyday life.

I always thought of the whole concept like the memory vacations in total recall. Everything is shit but there is this little hole in reality that stands for you. Combine this with marketing/propaganda and you have the modern reality of safespaces and minimalistic digital design.

I think it is cyberpunk, but on the low life way, it's culture jamming in a way, a way to make you feel safe when everything is fucked up.

Good grief, chummers.

It's fucking simple:

Go for efficacy. If that cable running through your room in plain sight is practical, go for it.

If it isn't, don't just chuck it there for the purpose of looking cyber.

I know this is a LARPing board, but the point of this shit is to at least PRETEND you're living the style.

i don't think cyberpunk is larping right now. this would be like larping to be fishing while fishing.

yeah many things didn't work out as was predicted but the general sense is here and there is no way most people with the background don't feel it

>this would be like larping to be fishing while fishing.

The rp aspect is more like taking a fishing trawler out to sea, then casting out a fishing rod you'd use from the edge of a small lake. You're still fishing, but you're going overboard with the aesthetic.

Considering it's Ubisoft, I wouldn't call that impossible.

It's less effort to have a couple of personalities and backgrounds and looks randomly selected than to make a dozen actual characters you'd care about.

There I was. Encased inside of the brothel while encased with in an artificial body. These glass walls is all I have ever known. That and my work; I never liked my work but i regarded it as a necessary service to stay online. Every time those sleek doors split open, I was to follow every command and instruction I had been told to, I went along with it but deep inside my hollow digital core I knew things were different. Are things different on the outside…?

Delivering then.

I should add that Kotek also had a regular customer who would rarely touch him - if he did, it was very affectionate, otherwise he would pay just to flirt and compliment Kotek on his eyes.

That's what he hated most.

He could not activate his implant, because he wasn't supposed to be a fuck doll with that customer.

He could not decide not to serve him because of his pimp.

Shortly after fleeing, his own eyes would haunt him when he stared in a mirror. So, with his last bit of brouzouf, he checked into a street clinic for eye replacements that looked as robotic as possible.

With no brouzouf left, he hit rock bottom and started the Shadowrunner life style.

Read the books for CP2020 and Delta Green, never adopted the systems due to them not being very easy for new players to grasp, mostly in chargen and combat. That is the trick, even an experienced D&D player is going to take some time to warm to an entirely new system if it isn't easy to learn. Most people learned D&D first edition because they had been used to the autism that came before it and made D&D seem easy.

After trying dozens of systems I came down to one that would work for everything I wanted to run and that was GURPS. Nevermind the /tg/ memes, it has hands down one of the most easy to grasp chargens and utilizes dice that you can find in anyones game cabinet (3d6) without having to break out a bag of polyhedrals like some turbonerd.

Read the books, but use a system you like.

My story:

Last night, I uploaded in regards to the 2019 Christchurch Massacre the Facebook Live stream, the manifesto, and the PDF archived thread.

The Internet Archive removed the video of the 2019 Christchurch Massacure without notice. I emailed them asking why, and told them my intent to reupload. I did. When I woke up this morning, the video was taken down again. I discovered shortly after my account had been locked. I emailed a second time to inquire. Shortly after this email, I discovered that both the manifesto and the archived thread have been set to "required to log-in to view" and have been Geologically censored. The Metadata says France is the region it is not able to be viewed. This does not make sense.

I have sent three emails and not received a single reply. I decided to wait until now for a reply, because I expected now to be a reasonable deadline. They have not replied. As of now, the two remaining files are still censored, and the video is still deleted. I am still unable to log into my Internet Archive account. With this, I am hereby announcing a boycott of the Internet Archive until they stop this censorship!

Spread these flyers, I have contacted multiple media outlets about this censorship, as well as persons involved in high-tech cases such as the EFF whom I hope will side with me and help participate in this boycott. I hope to make a difference. I am but one man, and need help.

The URLs of the files that remain are here:

shazbot, OP had nothing to do with /pol/ and everything to do with a website claiming to archive the internet deleting something it arbitrarily decided was crossing the line.

Here's a beheading:

And another:

You can find beheading videos a plenty on Archive.org, but the mere words of a man in New Zealand? Heaven forbid.

They've been cucked for several years at least. You used to be able to use web.archive.org without javascript enabled. And they also removed really old ass TOSEC stuff, like even really ancient/beta versions of Amiga Workbench and Kickstart roms that pretty much only have historical significance (because basically almost no software will run with those).

Anyway it's not too hard to find these things in other places, but that means we can't trust this so-called archive to actually do what it's supposed to. So we have to pick up the slack ourselves whenever we notice any discrepancies.

not that guy but Internet Archive claims to archive "the internet" not "the internet minus bits we don't like". Censoring stuff without making it clear that they censor things they don't like is essentially manipulating people.

I was there last year, they've turned it into a city park. Very pretty, and if you do get the chance to visit it it gives you a very good idea of just how small it was, the temple buildings in the middle are also original (i think) and you can see original foundations for the few buildings that actually had a foundation. They also have some documentaries running on a little TV that give really good oral history, and miniatures of the city in various stages of growth. It's IRL ancapistan and I agree with OP completely fascinating. Sorry I can't post photos, I got my phone stolen drinking (Remember kiddies, subway closes at night in Asia, don't pass out waiting for it to reopen at 6am)

Maybe try google maps of the park? I'm sure people posted photos and have those interviews online. Eitherway, there are tons of schway little alley ways of kowloon that feel just like the walled city. If you're a channer and want to go on a vacation I totally recommend you go to HK it's very cyber, inexpensive, and comfy

Naturally the hot spots are Sham Shui Po (Golden Arcade is schway and all but the real shit is outside in the streets surrounding the mall on weekend nights. Any kind of vendor you could imagine, aching to sell you what they know), Mong Kok (arcades, high rises and dense, packed shopping malls both outdoor and indoor), and Kowloon. Central is gentrified, castrated and docile. You may as well be in Ginza or SoHo it's so clean and palatable. Fucking boring. TST is getting to be the same way, although the Chungking Mansions still exist there, to my surprise. If you want some fun go ahead and stay there and talk to some people. Make friends with the Indians out front selling you a room, the African ladies outside the 7/11 selling you their bodies, and you're in for an incredible weekend. I could waste a lot of time in any of the neighborhoods and locations listed above.

Have you been outside the city itself? The New Territories are where it's at man. The infamous walled city was not entirely unique. Many "urban villages" exist as a holdover of Hakka forts and towns across South China. The most interesting, naturally, being in the city. The last one in Hong Kong city limits was demolished in 2016. I made my first visit just two months too slow to experience it. There are still some examples up in Shenzhen (the infamous Baishizhou) if you can get a visa. Commonwealth citizens can get a 72hr visa at the border iirc, but if youre american youll need to pay and apply in advance. Or make a friend in the Chungking Mansions who could help. Aside from the urban villages left over, all of the towns in the New Territories are generally neglected, dilapidated and low-life despite still benefiting from the massive GDP and population density. They are closer to how I feel the old Hong Kong was, they are grimier, less organized and more local. My two favorites were Tai Po, for its network of shopping streets and its night market, as well as its compact design. Sha Tin was also beautiful, if a bit more open and modern. Outside the towns there are all the hiking trails and shantytowns and abandoned villages your heart could desire.

I could go on about Hong Kong for a very long time. It's one of the best plaPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

I often see users complaining that the world isn't /cyber/ enough, but people are already doing all the cool things your read and watch and consume. Just you're sitting inside browsing /cyber/ instead of being /cyber/.

Webms, GIFs, videos etc appreciated.

I'll start:

•Megacorporations (Namely Google)

•For-profit healthcare and prisons

•Overpopulation

•Drones (agricultural drones especially)

•Drone-jammers

•Google assistant/Amazon Alexa (& Google home, Amazon echo)

•Great disparities in wealth

•Boston dynamics, etc robots

•Lack of free speech

•Nuclear bombs

•High depression rates

•Targeted advertising

•Instant access to porn, entertainment online (dopamine releasing content)

•Consumer society

•Pollution & global warming

Not interested. It's all just a big pissing contest between a bunch of oligarchs who have a "D" at the end of their name when they go on TV to spout bullshit versus a bunch of oligarchs who have an "R" at the end of their name when they go on TV to spout bullshit.

So post the relevant excerpts instead of posting about the whole fucking report. This is a fucking stupid thread and you should feel bad.

As it is the entire "muh Russian hacking" angle is nonsensical bullshit. It's fabricated outrage to make the current administration look bad and help the Dems save face. Did the Russians influence the American elections? Yes, probably - but if you think that every country with a halfway-decent intel agency hasn't been fucking around in the election process of every single democracy for the past 80 years, you're a naive moron who doesn't understand politics at all. Watch some fucking Bezmenov - that's not just the KGB playbook, that's what everybody does now.

I always associated it as being /cyber/ given the international nature while being particularly well-facilitated by the modern age.

Esperanto isn't "international", it's anti-national. English is the lingua franca and the official /cyber/ language as it comprises the keywords of every programming language.

America 2019: Net Neutrality has failed and the ISP's own goddamn everything. Content, transmission: they own it all. They charge you double to access parts of the web they don't like.

In this potential dystopia world, how does a schway cyberpunk circumvent the restrictions of the corporatists to access the internet?

Meshnets? The old stand-by's of Tor and a VPN won't help you here (they'll just block 'em). In this hypothetical dark age of the internet, how would you fight the corps and circumvent this egregious offense to freedom of information? It may not be long until we can't access 8ch anymore; now's the time for a solution.

Alright, /cyber/fucks, what kind of low cost bullshit do you do to spice up your wageslave lives with a touch of wannabe schway? I went all out, clearly. Ever so carefully taped printouts of stuff found here, and a few thrift store trips to nab blankets, pillows, and a TV to put under my elevated bed with my old PS2.

Give me your best/worst, chummers. Let's inspire eachother and our low-effort comrades.

Another argiefag here , it sucks man , now with the increasing inflation is becoming even shittier , buying a used thinkpad is like a luxury in here.

It kills our drive to try things and learn.

Reading about those dumpster diving stories or thrift shop finds is depressing.. here , even the most "cheap" thing you could think (like parts or components like a BIOS flasher etc. ) need are ridiculously overpriced.

Hello. As we already have a really nice clearnet SFTP, I decided to make an hidden service SFTP. Current capacity isn't really huge: 80GB, but, if everything works out fine, I could expand it in the future.

password: cyberpunk

I plan to improve the security, but I'm not really sure what should I do (learned all of this just to set this up), so every advice is welcome.

This is my gift for the community, I hope it will be useful.

We've got 500GB now, so don't hold back.

There's a readme, in it is a everything you need to know. I had to set all dirs except one to only read, so nobody would rm everything. So, just dump files there and we'll sort them for you. Try to keep them in relevant dirs though. Also, if you want access to rw user, message me on / T H E E N D /.

PS BO, can you edit the sticky and this thread with the new SFTP info? And, chatroom thread, just edit that v2 address into relevant v3 one. Thanks

Done. Sorry about the month long delay, life got in the way and I kind of forgot about it.

For the next time, could you adopt a tripcode? Not to encourage tripshazbotry, but I'd like to have a way to identify the owners of a service before updating it. If you can later on update your FTP with some README or something with your tripcode in it to verify your identity, that would be doubly sweet
