Theism: belief in the existence of God.

Here is how to become a theist via philosophy through logical necessity:

>1

Recognize that if ever there was nothing, nothing can spontaneously come into being. ex nihilo nihil fit; nothing comes from nothing.

>2

Recognize that something exists. If you're not satisfied with looking out your window and affirming that the world is really there, try thinking. If you have capacity to think, you exist. Cogito, ergo sum; I think, therefore I am.

>3

Recognize the law of causality. Every material effect must have an adequate antecedent or simultaneous cause. So, everything that exists either exists in and of itself, or is produced by something else.

Given these, the only answer that satisfies all three is the existence of a first uncaused cause. That cause is God.

If you weren't before, you are now a theist.

Or the Big Bang happened—could be that. Just because we don’t understand HOW it happened doesn’t mean there was a god behind it. That’s the kind of thinking primitive tribes used: Why does the sun move? A god. Why is there lightening? A god. Where did the universe come from? A god.

It’s the 21st Century, bro. Up your thinking game.

Their real problem is that if they use the original, they can't make the text say whatever they want, like they can with a translation. Hence why these autists prefer the Vulgate to the original Greek of the NT.

No it wasn't. It was translated by Hebrews. Jews are not Hebrews, jews are a few different ethnic groups that converted to rabbinic talmudism. They have nothing to do with the Hebrews or the Israelites or the Judeans.

That doesn't follow at all. Christ calls Himself the Son of God and this is recorded in the Gospels. The only place "queen of heaven" occurs in the Bible is in Jeremiah where it's a title of a pagan goddess. Christ didn't call Mary that, the Apostles didn't call Mary that, the angels didn't call Mary that.

Old IFB churches are infamous for either being cultic leaning, or being outright cults; complete with sexual and physical abuse scandals, as well as being hyper legalistic and controlling, in a manner akin to Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses, along with a shallow, rack up the numbers of "saved" people, via the "tract-Roman's Road-sinner's prayer" form of "evangelizing."

The New IFB is just the old IFB on steroids..

>>8147

Trying to find a traditionalist Baptist church in my area has proven to be infuriating. There's a couple of IFB churches that I'm not going to go to for the aforementioned reasons. All the Southern Baptist Convention churches in my area, within reasonable driving distance, either have a female functioning as a pastor or reverend in some capacity, and/or are a rock concert seeker sensitive church.

The closest to traditionalist Baptist I can find are some of the Free Will Baptist churches around here, and even some of them have some contemporary worship elements in spite of being in traditional old fashioned style church buildings, but it looks like one of them will have to do.

There is not a female functioning pastor at any SBC church, it is explicitly prohibited in the BFM, our statement of faith.

Most traditional baptist churches are SBC, because most baptist churches are SBC.

Lead Pastor? No. Working with youth or the elderly, and having been ordained as a Pastor, Reverend or Minister? Yes:

https://oakmontchurch.com/about-oakmont/staff

http://fbcfarmvillenc.org/category/staff/

http://tmbc.org/about-us/staff/

The following particular church used to post sermon videos regularly. The very last sermon video that was posted, was a sermon given by a female. There have been no further video uploads since. Probably because it was the last straw for that dying congregation:

https://wintervillebaptist.org/sermons/

And that's just the churches within driving distance of me. It's also creeping in elsewhere in the SBC:

Women can be called ministers as long as the role doesn't entail pastoral ministry. Same with reverend.

This is a surprise to me. Those churches with women preaching and called pastor should be removed from membership with the SBC. This year's convention included some kind of resolution to pursue removal of member churches.

Ordination is purely ceremonial. Spurgeon called it a fragment of popery.

Never practice it, and don't learn something you wish you could unlearn, like spells or rituals. Although sometimes it helps to know when you unintentionally initiated into something. I've posted what i've found regarding symbolism in the doc thread, what is rarely talked about by Christians is satanic symbolism is in conservative Christian media; such as the bible publishing companies. There were some bibles in this church i was in that used the symbol of a light torch and a series of Christian children's books depicting God as the masonic eye of Lucifer with check board floor on another page.

A lot of people on /christian/ will brush it off because they've seen the eye of Lucifer on 'christian' churches, just because it's on a church doesn't mean it's not satanic, there are churches with pentagrams. I believe it also has to do with Catholics defending their pagan side.

Everyone knows about the satanic/jewish symbolism in corporate logos, but not in 'christian' sects.

>The quiet and fleeting depiction of lesbian mothers in an opening scene of “Toy Story 4” is being praised by homosexual advocates as a “small moment of normalization.” However, the cursory inclusion has also raised concern among some family groups who opine that it is a “subtle [way] to desensitize children” to homosexuality.

>According to reports, in the beginning of the animated film, as Woody’s new owner, Bonnie, attends her first day of kindergarten, in the background — among the other children arriving for class — is a boy who is dropped off by two women. The women, who appear to be the child’s “mothers,” also embrace the boy as they return later at the end of the school day.

>“[I]t’s certainly not the major representation that queer people have been waiting for, but it’s still important. This is one of the biggest movies of the year, after all, and will be seen by millions of all ages around the world,” opined the UK Gay Times.

>“Here was a major family-friendly film, one of the biggest Disney Pixar releases, and they included a lesbian couple with their son. It’s a small moment of normalization, even if it’s minor,” The Mary Sue also remarked.

"Normalization" is the same as desetization. Definitively, only the abnormal needs normalizing.

I am sympathetic to the Trad Cath critique of the modern Catholic Church, but it seems to me like, far from what they allege, the so-called Catholic Church had fallen into innovation and heresy long before Vatican II. The only thing these people seem to care about is their precious Latin Mass, which is dubious in itself, and they also tack on criticisms of certain innovations which every Christian obviously despises, such as how John Paul II and Francis have pandered to infidels and sodomites. Yet they conveniently ignore how, even before Vatican II, the Church had long been gradually changing its teachings and softening its positions on things like slavery, usury, crusade, Muslims, Jews, etc. The Catholic Church has always softened its views on such thing in accordance with how society in general has changed its views on them. There has hardly ever been any real respect for Tradition at all.

The church was in decline before Vatican II and Vatican II was actually a response to that decline. If we had been more flexible in the past we could have converted China the way we converted Europe - by incorporating local traditions and ideas. I think the Church has grown rigid and stiff over the year and that's the real great weakness. Vatican II was supposed to shake things up but it didn't work because it just replaced one rigid system for another inferior rigid system.

We just need to pretend it didn't happen, until God clears things up.

This board is quickly turning into /christ/ 2.0 with gnostics running rampant and a board owner who's apparently 14 years old and a devout follower of Pastor Steve Anderson.

This place isn't like /christ/, there are hardly any gnostics, and in /christ/ it was one gnostic who should post a lot.

Check out embed. He makes a good case for it. This is the pastor who was recently arrested in Canada for street preaching, btw.

So you are abandoning your argument here >>7949 that the text is not referring to a separate covering besides the hair? I'm simply interested in what Paul's semantics, not cultural context.

My mistake, I did deviate from my first statement. What I should have said is "explain why the hair as a covering doesn't satisfy the first instruction".

>explain why the hair as a covering doesn't satisfy the first instruction

I'm sorry but maybe I wasn't clear: can we agree, as even gotquestions.com does, that Paul is referring to a covering other than the hair in verses 11:5-6?

>I am identifying another reason that a different word was used

You did no such thing. There are noun, adjective and verb forms of both words. You simply pointed out a random irrelevant thing.
