not sure if this is the right place to ask, but the post didn't seem to fit any particular religious board.

I've been meditating lately to try and explore a particular "feeling" I had when doing psychedelics, which was a few years ago.

It's a sort of vibration, really freaked me out the first time it happened, but something I learned to enjoy. At first I tried to find it in music and while electronic music is similar and a 45hz vibe gets pretty darn close, it's just not the same.

So I tried meditating. And I'm getting closer to the original, with enough practice I can almost grasp it, but never hold it.

I know deep down it has a connection to religion or at least spiritual practices, but anything I could find on the net is either too generic or has that Western wishy-washy feel you get from random-ass blogs.

Anyone else know what I'm talking about, this vibration? If so, what is it and where do I find more information about it? Any tips on meditation practices would also be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty new to this, so any assumptions that I should be aware of the basics would be misplaced…

How do you meditate? What technique are you using?

I've been trying out a few different methods, but the one that seemed to work best for me was to sit in darkness, slow down my breathing and then try to have a conversation with myself. Going through the events of the day, any particular feeling I'm having at the moment or any random thought that goes through my head. Most of the time I can feel it if something is worth exploring deeper, which is when I try to concentrate on it.

A peculiar thing I found out is my inability to lie during meditation. I usually lie quite a lot, but when I think of something I know not to be true, it's like I can't continue practicing until I correct it. It's a very odd kind of feel…

If I do it during the day, music helps a lot. Anything rhythmic and repetitive.

I know silence and no-thought are supposed to be the preferred method, but maybe I'm not there yet so I make do.

Isn't that the opposite of meditation? I thought the purpose of meditating was to learn to ignore your thoughts so that you could experience reality at a deeper level.

>I know silence and no-thought are supposed to be the preferred method, but maybe I'm not there yet so I make do.

You're not even going in that direction though.

 No.37097>>37098

>>37095

The more of these kinds of conversations I have, the more freely I can let the thoughts go through. When I first started, I could get stuck on a particular thought and it was difficult getting out of it. So this was a way of getting around it.

I'm hoping that allowing my mind to wander like that without trying to move it in any particular direction, would move me closer to the ideal state. And it's when I feel it coming on that I also start to feel the vibration that I mentioned

.

But as soon as I focus on it, it's gone.

 No.37098>>37099

>>37097

Oh, okay, so you're just observing your thoughts come and go? That definitely sounds like meditation.

 No.37099

Pretty much. It was very awkward at first, but over time I've come to enjoy it - it's like I have a personal shrink I can call upon at any time and it has definitely helped me resolve some shit.

But the vibration is what keeps bugging me. I don't know why I feel it, I don't know why I believe it has a connection to religion and I don't even know where to begin looking for answers. It's like an itch and I have to scratch it.

I just figured I'd drop a mention of it here, see if anyone else has had a similar experience. Maybe it's just a byproduct of meditation and I'm overthinking this, who knows.

It may have been a telepathic communication, those happen while meditating sometimes. Or it could have been an idea or feeling you were on the peak of understanding but just barely missed it. What did the vibration feel like? (Think like on a light spectrum for vibrations)

>I can almost grasp it, but never hold it.

That's most likely because you're getting yourself excited to feel that vibration again; when you can feel it approaching, remain calm and clear your head. Let the feeling come to you instead of you come to it.

>any tips

Learn how to make chiballs and go from there, then teach your friends so you can interact with them metaphysically.

>>37105

>It may have been a telepathic communication

This is another thing I suspected, you would've connected to some spirit metaphysically.

In terms of feeling, it felt close to 45hz

But in terms of visuals, which happened only during a particularly strong shroom trip (have been able to recreate the same image multiple times, but only under drugs, never without), the vibration was followed by what I can only describe as a "bug with hundreds of eyes", image related. Felt like it was sending me streams of information I just couldn't process.

The fact that it all happened under the influence though makes me disregard some of those experiences, since I can't say for sure they're related.

I have read that trying to reach a specific goal under meditation is going to make it impossible to do - getting rid of desire and all that - but I haven't yet found a way to actually do that correctly.

I'm bullshitting here, but ever heard of binaural beats, neural oscillations (brainwaves), or phases of sleep? That sounds like the state your mind finds. It's probably physiologically more complicated than 'a wavelength' but that sounds good enough for meditating.

An important biological function of humans is our ability to search for a known state. Animals in clouds, shapes in the dark, eyes when we close our eyes. Knowing the human face is intrinsic to our being. That's why you can see a bunch of eyes. It's pretty common on hallucinogens apparently, otherwise they wouldn't make art like pic related.

"When you stare into the abyss, theres a fucking bug with hundreds of eyes. Fuck."

Thanks for putting it into words, it makes a lot of sense. Also, I love that kind of art! Brings me back…

I think I know what you're talking about OP. I've experienced a similar vibration. It also scared me when it happened the first. It feels like I'm tapping into an energy that isn't compatible with me.

It's interesting you seem to want to replicate it, because for me it's an indication that I've been disrespecting the substance and gone off track on the trip. That may be just because my trips tend to be really visually focused rather than tactile, but maybe we're just looking for different things.

Try 432hz instead. Its natural

The vibration you feel is the energy flow. Have a look at the qigong "big tree" meditation. Feeling the vibration, electric shower, goose bumps, etc is quite normal. It's a good sign that you are doing it right. Just feel it, ignore it, do not concentrate on it and do not try to reproduce it.

>vibration

>connection to religion

Sounds like Om. I think OP is searching for a feeling when the feeling was the result from something else. He needs to search for the cause. If OP is still around, (tell us if you are) I think what you should search for is presence, and being.

If your mind elevates to the razor edge of the now, and you are aware, I believe this is pleasing for the body. I assume psychedelics can perpetuate this. Instead of trying to grasp the feeling (get to this certain state in the future, or realize you had the feeling in the past) OP should meditate and be in the moment. Feel the vibration but be completely aware of the now.

 No.41671

I think I have an idea what you're talking about. There's definitely a distinct tone to psychedelic trips.

Terrence McKenna talks about similar, I can't think of anything in particular off the top of my head but there's a direction you could start looking.

I would honestly pick a boring-sounding meditation tradition with a long history. Tibetan/Hindu mantra, Anapanasati, metta, etc.

ITT: OP has tripped hella balls and thinks he can trip balls while sober; while in denial of the fact that it was a passing sensation caused by psychedelics.

It's ok, OP-- I've been there too.

The thing is that you invest yourself into it so much that you don't want to accept that it was merely an experience and not a state that one can reside in as long as they desire to.
