Should they be considered "real" video games? In many ways, where there is a real world version, but both cost money (with the digital version yoy just bought a digital card with no permanence, whereas a physical card is a real object) I feel that it is as worthless as a sports game. Then again, the physical card only has value because people say it does. At the end of the day, a piece of cardstock has no more inherent value than 1s and 0s

Something else I have noticed is that, when it is an irl game with real cards, people generally don't shit on it, but when you make it digital, suddenly it people will shit on it to no end. They don't think that the actual content of the game is bad, but for some reason, taking it out of the real world and making it digital, is the offensive part.

Video card game is more appropriate.

because digital card games are usually dumbed down radically with a business scheme that puts them on a level of tcg, and everybody hates those in physical form.

Well it's a digital product where you compete against a human opponent or AI with a set of rules and a set of tools, with a winner and looser. So yeah, it can be called a video game.

Besides the fact that you do not like card games, what arguments do you have in them not being video games.

I don't personally, but some people would, like how many people think that phone games like Farmville or bejeweled or Candy crush, despite literally being video games, they aren't "real" video games. If you play candy crush then you aren't a "real gamer"

It's like there are two different things. There are video games, and then there are "video games".

Digital does not replace physical obviously. But they're still vidya, even if bad ones.

Because some people like myself feel cheated if we're paying for something without getting something physical in return. If I buy a game, I'm buying either a cartridge or a disc. If I'm playing a card game and I have to buy booster packs or whatever, I'd like to have something physical that I can hold in my hand, for my money.

By that logic you should buy fallout 76 and other games in wallmart. Even if its just a cardboard disk in a box, its still physical object, right? You can hold it in your hand, shove it up your ass or whatever you want with it.

Not all card games make you spend IRL money on cards. Unless there's somehow a way to p2w Pokemon TCG on GBC.

Of course a gbc game doesn't charge you for cards, they made their money by selling you the cartridge. How would that even work? It had no online aspect. Modern PC games make their money with micro transactions and loot boxes (booster packs) and shit

And you're generalizing like all TCG video games have to do that shit. Yes, they're video games. Are the ones that go with microtransaction gacha bullshit by selling digital booster packs fucking gay jewish bullshit? Also yes. Ridiculous excuse for a thread.
