What are you playing?

What are you flying?

What are you learning?

Who is best plane?

I have been flying the Warthog & Hornet and learning the Harrier in DCS.

I think I asked some time ago, but how important is it to have a stick or a rudder for sims? The most I've played of flight sims was a bit of Il-2 Sturmovik, and trying to land using keyboard controls was an adventure every time.

Depends what you fly, for modern jets you should get away with using a HAT or buttons but for propeller planes and choppers it's a must. Cheap pedals will do but better ones tend to last longer, I have the Saitek Pro Flight pedals and they have served me well for 5+ years.

Well, I know with FSX you can use a KB and M just fine cause it's microshit. Everything else though is gonna need at least a joystick

Ace Combat is an arcade game and there's already a thread for it.

I still wonder what their retarded reasoning was for removing mouse as yoke from 2002/4 and making you hunt around for third party options.

I used to control the plane better with a keyboard in dcs. I don't see all the fuzz about using a cheap joystick when you can rather use the keyboard and move better without going far away from key commands which are crucial.

Except you cash the more expensive ones

No idea, simmers probably pushed for it because "realism" or something. As much as I love sims the fanbase is notorious for shelling out massive amounts of money for shit willingly to get that "real experience". Technically though there's 0 reason why you can't use a mouse as a joystick

It really depends what you are flying and at what level. If you want to get the most out of something like the DCS A-10C or F/A-18C I highly recommend a HOTAS setup. The F/A-18C's helmet mounted tracking has actually convinced me to get TrackIR and if you can't see how looking at a target to get radar lock is useful I don't know what to tell you.
