I finished HL2 twice on the OG Xbox. It isn't actually that bad, other than the framerate - it struggles to keep 30 fps in quiet locations with no action, and might drop to low 10s in heavily detailed areas with lots of action. Dual analog controls were actually pretty solid for aiming.
Considering a PC with the same specs couldn't even boot the Windows version, I'd say it's fine. Just having HL2 running into a 6th gen console at whatever state was a very impressive feat back in the day, and the Xbox-hating Sonyggers of the day were absolutely buttblasted.
