Has anyone else grown especially autistic about playing this fucking game? I have set myself a set of goals and plans on what I want to accomplish without taking the end of the game into consideration, though I did plan or killing the Enderdragon just so that I can get to the End Islands later on. The thing is, I very quickly get distracted by other things and forget to work towards my actual goals, quickly forgetting my plans. One of the things that distracts me especially and that I'm getting autistic about are roads, I fucking love building roads in this game, not even pretty roads as I simply build them from cobblestone, but roads that connect to most of the points of interest I have, What I also love is going into a village and fixing their awful road systems so that it doesn't look like shit as I try to expand the road network towards the most important parts of the world. For some reason the very idea of connecting things makes them feel far more civilized for me which I incredibly like, especially that those also always help me find my way for this simple reason.
Anyone who still plays this game, what is your personal autistic endavours?

The "autism" in any given Minecraft session is less anything resembling obsession and more an incredibly severe defensive mechanism caused by the realization that there's nothing to the game so your mind is trying to rationalize as many things to squeeze out of it before you finally realize it's a shallow piece of shit.

I do something similar to a mix of you and OP. Instead of a shaft I hollow out gigantic rectangular caverns, using the stone from that one mine as the building material for an entire series of towers (mostly 7x7 or 9x9 at the base and decreasing to 5x5 at the top at cloud-height, but some are larger) that I use as a means of navigation. My last map I had probably 30-40 of them.

I've been in the process of moving my base from the taiga lake I built it on (it's a fucking nightmare, imagine how Windows 10 looks under the hood and make a Minecraft comparison) to a nearby plains biome that's almost entirely underground. Decided to do it after clearing out the nearby land and realizing just how ugly the area around me is. Tore it all down, moved shit to the new base with a load of minecarts, and am in the process of building a monument to commemorate it since that plot of land was my base for the past seven years. Shit's emotional.
Also in the process of using rails to network all the major points in my world (closest village is a full desert away, the other a full plains biome away)

I'm the only one of a group of friends who kept up to date with it in the past 5 years, and recently one of said friends decided to get everyone together on a personal server running the latest version. My personal autistic endeavor is attempting to corral a herd of bumbling ADD idiots into actually completing a small goal each week, while also setting up farms so they can comfortably bumble around which I keep failing at since I get side tracked by other projects.

I did once, a long time ago. All I really remember is that the spawn area was a complete fucking hellhole blasted into oblivion, and you'd have to travel a good few kilometers before you'd find something even remotely useful, and that's assuming you didn't die of starvation in the process and be sent back to spawn. Assuming nothing's changed, I think that server is really only fun for people who have been around for years and actually have some shit set up in a remote corner of the map.

I remember doing that myself once after seeing a guide on how to create a self-sufficient underwater glass-domed habitat. It's a generally good idea since you're far away from anything that could fuck with you, and once you've got farms set up you're free to set up mining shafts to go exploring where most people aren't going to bother. The problem was when they changed something in the world generation that caused the ocean floor to no longer be covered by sand, so you'd have to go back up on land if you needed more glass. That ruined a lot of the fun. Dunno if they changed it again after that.

Obviously that's what you'd have to do now, but the whole point of the tutorial was that you could build and expand without ever having to return to land just by using the resources you found in the depths. Sucks that you can't really do that anymore, but really that's only the tip of the iceberg with regards to how meh the world generation became over the years.

When I decided to reinstall Minecraft on a lark about a year or two ago, I remember going to grab the latest Painterly pack, only to find that it hadn't been updated in at least a couple years at that point. Checked the website just now, the last update was in 2016 for 1.10, and the last version that the customizer works for is 1.8. The creator hasn't posted anything to their Twitter account since that update. There was a fan continuation that goes up through 1.12, but that's dead now too. A real shame, to me it struck the right balance between staying true to the original textures and making things more aesthetically pleasing. That and the sheer amount of customization options meant you could have an entirely unique texture pack that suited your personal tastes.

When I stopped playing it was still f2p with half the playerbase being 30-40+. Was sorta interested in some of the maps but missed most of it due to largely being away on service for ~7years on and off. When I left and cecked it out again it it was less survival and more, I dunno how to describe it but easier and building focused (i'd rather use a CADlite program tbh) or slavshit kids meme maps.
Don't really care for multiplayer, especially if 4cuck cancer like >>16712600 is the best alternative.

If you dont mind mods, a small mod called "Flat Colored Blocks" lets you use dyes and either cobblestone, glass or glowstone to make blocks of any color that are either solid, transparent (glass) or emit light like glowstone. I dont mean any color as in "the 16 colors of dyes in minecraft" but as in, 50 different shades if using a single dye and mixing them just increases the options.
I think there is a config options also to change wether its a flat texture on the block or if it has a bit of noise to fit in with other minecraft blocks and make it look more natural.

Another cool and simple mod for decor/cosmetics is "Chisel". Not "Chisel and bits", thats a completely different depth of autism.
Basically it adds chisel tool (1 stick 1 iron) and when you click on a block with it or right click to open a gui, you can change the appareance of blocks with a bunch of new design or patterns.
For example, cobblestone bricks without needing to smelt into stone first, or just making stone bricks without having to do the stupid 4 stone square recipe. Wood planks with a different rotation or square patterns. Engraved designs, etc. Lots of different designs for many blocks and some even connect when placed together.
Actually it also adds a white (marble) and yellowish (limestone) stone variants to world gen, basically andesite and such but not ugly as shit.

So i recently watched a video that discusses minecraft issues and made me realize what the issue with minecraft is:
Its not a survival game anymore. Danger would drive creativity and building. Now people build because they have nothing else to do.
Is there a way to overhaul minecraft where loads of various dangers are introduced making players come up with elaborate structures to defend and sustain themselves? In current minecraft I can just survive in a hole and live through the entire night. Why isn't there an enemy in the game that can burrow through your shit in certain conditions? Why don't zombies instead of dying in the sun not make a hole to hide in, the numbers increasing without some artificial spawn rate increase. There also needs to be more dangers in caves. Why aren't there gas pockets where if you make a spark (iron and above pickaxes now make occasional sparks) or ignite a fire things go boom?
Also something else I really dislike is that now you are some guy in a populated world. Before you seemed like a stranded survivor completely alone and with no hope of seeing any other sapient creature. It gave the game this peaceful yet melancholy feeling. In fact, that why shit like Herobrine was considered scary, because it was the uncanny though of some other person being around, lurking but rarely seen.

<Now
>In current minecraft I can just survive in a hole and live through the entire night.

This has been the case ever since survival test days. The problem with Minecraft is that it isn't a fucking game. It lacks any kind of focus or goal. Some might say building is the goal but compare it to something like a city builder where you have metrics for success and a progression in complexity. In Minecraft a big square room is no different to a massive fortress as far as the gameplay is concerned, and there's no complexity to any of it. People call it virtual lego but it's not even virtual duplo. You don't get furniture, you don't even get shapes more complex than fucking textured cube to build with.
Making it into a "survival game" wouldn't solve the issue. Even if you somehow managed to make survival a fun mechanic which is an unsolved problem in videogames as far as I'm concerned, it still wouldn't push the envelope for building things because it would just encourage players to optimize for efficiency and you're back to the 2x1 holes and square box houses again.
What Minecraft needed was a vision. Something you can point to and say "this is what the game is about". Terraria is the classic example of doing everything Minecraft should have done, and you can point to it and say "It's a metroidvania where you build your own town". It doesn't encompass all the game is but it gives some context to the game and tells both the player and the developers what kind of mindset they should have concerning the game. The devs know what direction they should take the game in and the players know if they did a good job or not by how it plays. Minecraft had no direction. An idiot stumbled upon a brilliant idea and just spun his wheels and did nothing with it while the pure novelty and potential of it created a black hole of autism and popularity that meant the game never actually failed like it should have. It's a thin facade of a game that could be that people fell in love with so hard that they don't even care that it's hollow anymore.

I'm building an adventure-esque server for me and my buddies on a porn discord. I redpilled myself on better building techniques and designs so each town has its own aesthetic. The port town has a standard medieval Europe look, the one in the valley has a Japanese look, the one in the desert gets an Arabian look, and the one in the mountains gets a viking/dwarven look.
And that's just the towns. Each town will have 2 Dungeons, one for grinding rewards (i.e. kill rats in basement for gold) and one dungeon for challenge (kill an army of military Zombies in an abandoned magic academy, kill the Summoner Zombie miniboss, and then the Zombie Warlord main boss that uses a huge hammer that knocks you around and makes you dizzy from the impact, and can throw torches at you if you're far away to set you on fire.)
It's a huge undertaking and I made the mistake of telling my buddies about it before it was ready so now they keep asking me when it's ready.

Okay niggers, I need to ask for your advice. I have finished building the general shape for the mansion I've been talking about and I have a few questions to ask of you,
I know the mansion doesn't really look good but
>I'm shit at building
>It's unfinished
so pls no buli.
The questions that I have are:
>What blocks should I use to finish off the roof? I have considered birch wood but I was thinking about using stone bricks instead.
>Should I leave the floor as it is or change it from cobblestone to something else?
>Should I extend the shitty tower at the top a bit so that it is not two but three rooms high so that it sticks out nicely in contrast to the entire roof?
>Any advice you have to improve the build or for builds in the future?
The build is survival but I went into creative for a bit just so that I can take better screenshots of how the entire building looks so far.

>I fucking love building roads in this game
Same, though it's not always roads, but just "pathways". In every server I've ever been on, I'm always the guy making the transportation infrastructure. I make roads in the overworld connecting everyone's houses. I set up the nether hub and make the tubes so you can walk between the portals without getting shot by ghasts. I plan out and construct the extended rail network taking you to distant nether portals to distant biomes and bases. Even if it's not really a road, but just a pathway of torches or signposts, I like it.
But really, it's not the paths that appeal to me, it's the LABELS. I fucking love labeling shit with signs. Fucking signs are probably my favorite "block" in Minecraft. I put little pillars at every path intersection with multiple signs, with arrows pointing in every direction telling you where everything is. If you were new to the server, you'd easily be able to navigate to anyone's base or points of interest just by following the signs. As soon as you exit a nether portal there are signs telling you where everything is; at every rail station and terminus, there are signs telling you where it leads; at the entrance of everyone's base there's a sign telling you how to get back to spawn or wherever.
But it goes beyond that, because I also like Minecraft maps. I even combine these two things and make photoshop maps that lay out where the nether network is. Then I use this to make "pixel-art" in-game maps of the spawn area with the nether network overlaid and labeled, to put inside the nether hub. So if, for some reason you can't navigate by following signs, there's ALSO A FUCKING MAP IN-GAME.
Anyway, I don't have any screenshots of that on hand, so here's when I made the Cyclops from Subnautica. Bonus interior shot of the main area. The inside lights are all hooked up to a single switch in the cockpit so I can set the mood when I rig for silent running, which is one of my proudest achievements. Setting up redstone underwater IS NOT FUN.

>moving my base
>moved shit to the new base with a load of minecarts
If there's any reason you should update, it's for the shulker boxes. Basically they're portable chests that can go inside an enderchest, which multiplies your portable storage space by 27. Instead of just having some backup shit in your ender chest, you can have all the backup shit in one shulker box, and then have another full of spare tools, another full or redstone components, another full of rails, another full of building blocks, another full of mapping supplies, etc.

>A few underwater biomes and plants, colorful coral reefs, sea pickles that shine underwater, seaweed that can be cooked to eat or used as smelter fuel, turtles and sea grass to feed them
>Ship wreckages: Ships that spawn underwater or in the coast merging with the terrain and contain treasure. Just making a bout and going around trying to find one is a good and fast way to get rare goodies
>More fish variety for fishing + now fish actually exist, phisically in the world.
>Treasure maps, usually found in ships. A map marking the X spot, go find it and dig until you find a treasure. Neat but kinda annoying.
>Dolphins.

probably easily doable, but then you'd be slowing down the whole thing by adding a value check to inventories tied to the game clock and that doesn't account for unloaded chunks or multiplayer where you could have dozens of players with dozens of inventories to check

I don't mean just in the inventory. All player picked and placed blocks and items have a value. They could be in chests, in your inventory, or actually placed blocks. Then its literally just 2+2 and the number determines the strength of raids, I highly doubt that is hard on the processor. And for unloaded chunks, im sure there is some basic data still floating about for them. When you reload it just generates some random destruction, sets a few things on fire, and deletes like 80% of items in chests. Maybe a path finding AI can be made and it checks the routes into your home/towards your chests and depending on how hard it is it lowers the damage. I also think blocks should fall if they are placed too far from a block connected to the ground.
If somebody had the autism or at the very least billions of dollars and a professional developer team backed by one of the biggest software companies in the world they could probably implement shit like kingdoms and generate factions bases that raid each other where the player can construct castles and hire guards and soldiers. Basically there should be a Mountain Blade mod for minecraft.

I was experimenting with it some time ago. Vanilla is very hard to work with as the only solutions for replicating shoji are spruce trapdoors and doors, or wool. Both have a number of large issues, obviously. Mods make it much easier. ChineseWorkshop is half chink garbage, but it does have some really aesthetic components – its roof blocks are absolutely gorgeous, despite a couple of design flaws like the awful handling of edge blocks. Quark has shoji screens, but there's a new mod on Curseforge called Tatami which is even better, as it has high-quality tatami mats and screen doors as well. I know that they're high-quality because I designed and textured them. Quark also has vertical wood planks, which make much better pillars than regular wood or logs do; spruce can substitute for proper stained wood, or you can use oak for an untreated appearance. ChineseWorkshop, Quark and Tatami together should make the best set of decorative blocks for traditional Japanese buildings in general.

Bought a copy of Bedrock for 89 cents on one of those key reseller sites (Kinguin, I think) a while ago. I run it through a VM wanna play with an Xboxfag buddy of mine, but don't wanna actually run Windows 10 It's been pretty fun, they've added a ton of shit since I last really got into it. Some of the shit, like Phantoms, are quite annoying but horses and mules have been pretty neat.

These snowshitters have spooked me at least twice now. I made four of them last night and they're everywhere but near my base. This one in particular is hanging in an offsite mine. Have to keep in mind their snail trail of snow.
>>16718769
I have a feeling if I stick with this again I'll end up down a similar hole, already planning on a rail system to another biome as it's about a day and a half trip just to retrieve some wool. It's a bit hard to suggest texture packs with so many being outdated and depending on what version of MC you're running.

The big names in technology/industry mods would be:
>Team Cofh mods/ Thermal series https://teamcofh.com/docs/
This one is actually a bunch of like 8 mods because its split into modules. Redstone Flux adds the RF mechanic to the code which is basically power. Core+World add some new enchants, commands and its own world gen. Foundation adds a bunch of new ores to said world gen as well as new metals that you dont mine, but you allow by combining others in machines or by hand IE Bronze by mixing copper and tin. Next one adds the actual machinery that runs off+produces RF and machinery upgrade system, next one adds the pipes that move items, liquids, RF and even players, next one adds some extra tools.
Just read on the docs on what they do, its ALL there You can get the gist of it.
>Immersive Engineering
This one is a more "down to earth technology" mod. Instead of pipes it has converyor belts to move items. Instead of pipes you move power through wires, said power being low/high voltage. Move liquids with pressurized pipes still, You get power by making a water wheel or a windmill instead of just feeding items into a machine. Its a very different feeling, rustic and immersive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFwvmU5sqTY
>Buildcraft
Actually i dont know shit about this one, but its popular as well. All i know is that you can make a quarry that phisically mines an area by drilling it block by block.
>Ender IO
I played with this on a modpack and i have absolutely no idea whats happening. Im probably just dumb and get easily overwhelmed if i dont find quick and easy to read documentation so just look it up yourself, just giving the name
Bonus mentions:
Tinker's Construct is a mod that goes well with ANY mod that adds new ores/metals, even if you have to look for addons that add compatibility with all of them. It adds a new method to make tools (pickaxes, swords, bows, axe) as well as adding new tools (Hammer, broadsword, rapier, shurikens) by using a wide variety of materials. For example, usually to make a pickaxe you just do 2 sticks 3 stone or iron. TiC has you make parts individually (tool rod, binding, pickaxe head) from different materials, and each material has different effects on it stats as well as adding efffects. Tool rod made out of bone, binding made out of wood, head made out of flint. Later on you will have to make a smeltery to smelt metals into the proper shape in molds.
RF Aresnal: Adds weapons and armor that you can charge with RF. For the Team Cofh mods
RFtools: Adds a lot of blocks and machines that run off RF. Elevators that actually move the blocks, force fields, etc. For the Team Cofh mods
Iron Chests: Lets you make chests of copper/iron/gold/diamond that still ocupy only one block of space but have a LOT more room for storage
Storage Drawers: Simple but clean. Make drawers out of chests, wood and sometimes sticks. These drawers can only contain 1/2/4 items depending on which type you make, but they can hold a HUGE amount of stacks in them. This is real good if you want to store a huge amount of certain item but you dont want to clog up chests with that shit. Single slot drawer can hold 64 stacks, aka 4096 cobblestone/dirt/sand/glass. AND they can be upgraded, biggest upgrade being x16 times so thats 65536 of any item in only one block. No more fiddling with goddamn eggs filling chests because they only stack up to 16. They also display whats inside on the front so you dont need to open things to see whats inside either. In fact you dont even open drawers, 1 click takes out 1 item, shift click takes out a stack, right click puts in whats on your hand and double right click puts everything in your inventory that fits in/matches the drawer.

It's probably in the works. Taiga got a minor update, adding foxes and berry bushes (the big thing was completely reworking villages and villagers). There's definitely upcoming small updates for savanna and desert, in the same vein as the taiga. But the next big update will probably have a big impact like the last two; we just don't know what it is yet, except that they've said it's not going to be caves. There will be some combat changes. Eventually I expect them to overhaul the nether and end with new mobs and blocks, though.
Foxes are the best mob in the game. Not only will tamed ones attack hostile mobs that attack you, but they can also hold items in their mouth and actually use them. So if you suddenly get mobbed by zombies or whatever, drop one of your foxes a diamond sword and he'll start WRECKING THEIR SHIT.
>>16715773
There is already a "local difficulty" that makes more and tougher mobs spawn in chunks that you visit more frequently. It might be possible to do this, but it would be easier to simplify it to just certain blocks instead of EVERY block. How does one determine which types of stone bricks are more valuable, anyway? Just base it off of stored ore resources; if you have a stack of diamonds sitting in a chest, you're asking for trouble.

When he says "store mods", I'm pretty sure he means mods that add the ability for players to make their own store. Not everyone wants to make an autistic farm for every little thing, but they'd probably be willing to trade what they made from their farms for something someone else made from a different farm. Being able to set up a shop is a necessary convenience if you want trade to happen more often than just a few occasional instances.

I did something similar to that once, some years back. It was also in Survival. My dome was probably smaller than yours, but if I recall correctly, it was a round cylinder, possibly topped by a half-sphere.
I got the water out of the inside with sponges. I built dirt scaffolding at various levels to support the sponges and place them at intervals of a few blocks from each other, to soak up water most efficiently.
When I had the water out of the dome (which still took a very long time), I built an entire custom village in there, or at least one giant villager building (again, can't remember exactly). I bussed villagers down there with a minecart, after getting them by curing zombie villagers.
Unfortunately, I don't think the villagers were able to breed, despite the arrangement of doors in the village being correct for it to be counted as a large village. I guess the water above the dome was blocking direct sunlight onto the village, according to the game's rules.

Really the only serious problem with vanilla Minecraft is the lack of quality of life/ease of use mechanics. Do you have any idea how bullshit it is to try to work with glazed terracotta? Terraria has MC beat all to hell in that department. I imagine that once Terraria get block swap that building in Minecraft will feel like absolute torture by comparison.

Rails aren't that worth it in vanilla Minecraft, at least not since horses were added. I've played online and gone full autismo building a rail network just for me to get out-runned by my friend who's got an aryan breed of horse.
The wings are actually pretty nice, and iceblock paths are really fast, but railways are just too much work and too slow for them to be a good investment. Their only advantage is that you can get in the minecart and it will automatically get you where you need to go, although that's only guaranteed if you have your rails well illuminated and above ground, since there's always the possibility that some faggot cow will get in the middle and instead of sending it to the shadow realm like in real life, the minecart bounces and you get sent back where you came from.

Most servers with a PvP focus make it a flat layer since bedrock generation is actually the same across all worlds regardless of seed, so if you get a screenshot of a few bedrock blocks showing you can let a program generate a bedrock layer and scan it for the pattern you have, giving you coordinates.

Okay Anon!
1.Yes. I think stone bricks would be a good choice. Good color contrast to break up the monotony a bit, plus it will protect from lightning strikes.
2.Definitely change the floor to anything so it isn't the same as the walls (or vice versa). I made a mansion once, and I used red wool floors for a luxurious look, but it might be hard to do that in survival without breeding lots of sheep.
3.Go for it, it sounds like a cool idea. Maybe it would look like a little birdhouse with a porch. A honeymoon suite of sorts. Could be cool.
4.Some tips, take them or leave them. For a fancy railing/banister, you can put glass panels along the edge of any catwalk.
Really bizarre one, but if you make a floor out of crafting tables, it actually kinda looks like a fancy ballroom.
Frame your walls with a darker shade of wood and it will add more depth.
You can remove a patch of the ceiling on the bottom floor to make the upper rooms a little more interesting and give a greater sense of scale (add some railings, obviously). This would look especially nice in the foyer.

I started playing about 2 months ago, But haven't gotten back to it in a while.
I like to think other people do this.
I hit F3 so that I know my exact cords and often make things in accordance of multiples of 8.
I make a tower at the 4 XY 0,0 cords, but like to build my main place near the ocean so I don't have to work as hard to make a flat chunk of farmland.
At the Z cord for water level I make paths/tunnels that spread outward from the 0,0s until I hit 64 and then make a giant square.
I also make them below ground at 32Z and 8Z.
I keep doing it until I hit like 256.
Then I use the nether to teleport and explore, but still keeping it in terms of multiples of 8.
I found my first village around the edges of my 256 path and want to turn it into a big walled opulent village with a bunch of villagers to trade with.

You can just use nametagged skeletons or pillagers for turrets. Although, a friendly mob with ranged attacks would be pretty legit to have, so they don't also shoot you.
Anything, I don't think foxes can use a bow because they don't have an inventory, just their mouth (which functions just like the player's off-hand). Even if they could use the bow, they could not hold the arrows, and even an infinity bow requires at least one arrow in your inventory to function.
But it's not just weapons; any item that has an "effect" when held or used will also affect them. If a fox is slain while holding a totem of undying, it will resurrect. If a fox has a food item in its mouth, it will eventually eat it and then take the effect. If they eat a suspicious stew they will be get the effect, whether speed or poison or whatnot. If they eat a chorus fruit, THEY WILL FUCKING TELEPORT.
>>16719409
You don't need a mod for a store. Just put shit in a chest with a note saying how much it costs and let people take it and leave the correct amount of diamonds. If they're going to steal shit, then there is literally nothing that can be done to prevent it with commands or mods or anything because they will find a way around them. Just don't let untrustworthy people on your fucking server; it's simple.
>>16720104
It's funny. When 1.14 first dropped, performance with chunk loading was so fucking atrocious that flying by elytra was basically impossible because you'd rapidly reach (visually) unloaded areas and then crash into something and die. For a short time until it was patched, the minecart was once again the fastest reliable method of travel in the game.
But horses are only good if you're on perfectly flat and empty land. They're bad with hills, get stuck in narrow gaps, and can't cross even tiny rivers. Because of how varied Minecraft terrain is, any reasonably large distance you're much better of simply fucking walking it, because you'll waste so much time getting the horse stuck.
>>16722055
Cartographer villagers sell you maps to find the nearest one. Woodland mansions usually are literally thousands of blocks away, while ocean temples are everywhere and piss-easy to find if you just go out onto the ocean at night and look for lights underwater.

You assume every nigger who's willing to steal also has the patience and dedication to circumvent every possible protection. It's like computer security. If someone is dedicated and skilled enough, they can break into anything, but you put up barriers, anyway, because most people don't have those qualities.

It's as disgusting as you imagine. Anon leaks by disgruntled employees have revealed that the reason the (((modern))) start menu is so slow is that it's all coded in xml and depends on more than two ancient code bits that everybody forgot what they are for, yet it's necessary to copy paste them into every project, moving icons and entries of something from like two places and writing them in other two places (and/or more…), and even an ide just for all that. I don't commonly use coordinates to navigate; I use it for construction. Knowing exact coordinates is essential for accuracy of large builds, for syncing up nether portals, etc..
However, maps are extremely infeasible over large distances. Normally it's not required to travel more than a few thousand blocks, but on a long-running server sometimes updates to terrain generation means you need to generate brand new chunks to get the new stuff. On a server I play on, first made in 1.12, we've have to venture farther and farther outward to get the ocean stuff, and now the 1.14 stuff. I had to go a distance that would have been something like six largest maps from spawn to find foxes, and the best way to get them back was to find the closest taiga that was along the same x-coordinate as an existing nether rail line running in that direction, to minimize the new rails I had to lay and digging through the nether that was required. I wasn't about to waste literally hours of time by guessing where the fuck that rail line was and then be off by five thousand goddamn blocks.
If you never use coordinates, you're only doing small shit in the game. So don't you pretend as if your horse is high enough to claim what I do is "cheating".

Good computer encryption is "would take the NSA supercomputers a thousand years to brute-force" level, so you're plainly wrong. You should still vet your players; it's not fucking difficult. There are servers with upwards of a dozen players and nobody ever steals or griefs in bad faith. It's called trust and basic integrity. If your friends don't have that, get better friends.
And worst comes to worst, if someone's stealing tiny amounts of shit that you were selling for five diamonds, suck it up like a big boy. You should have hundreds of diamonds anyway; shops are there for fun, not because you NEED them.

Add the savannah biome update to that and it's probably already more than Mojang can deliver. If they were to add more, they should just finish the modding API already. They showcased customizable mobs last time, thy're going to need that shit if Hytale turns out to not be vaporware.

there was nothing wrong with block IDs and using metadata, it just wasn't used to it's potential as well as other things like colored blocks
>leaf blocks are colored based on biome
>grass is the same
>sheep metadata sets their wool color, which there are gl methods for setting the color of their main 'wool' model
>but there's 16 wool textures because they didn't use the same method of coloring leaves and grass for wool color
<would have saved 15 texture slots
>the same method could have been applied to wood planks, because only the color changes not the actual texture
<would save 3 texture slots
>same for gold and diamond blocks
<would save 1 texture slot
>same for gold/iron/coal/diamond/redstone ore
<would require texture layering but would save 4 slots
>powered/unpowered rails
<1 slot
>repeater on/off
<1 slot
>torch and lever
<1 slot
>redstone lamp on/off
<1 slot
just by being clever they could have saved 27 texture slots and probably even optimized further with texture submaps I forget the actual term where a slot is broken into smaller segments with textures to be repeated on a larger face, good for textures where there's not much variation
then item drops could have been optimized by using a single hashmap but instead it's been hardcoded into blocks what they'll drop, making it more of a pain in the ass to change the base game
and too many blocks of similar type have their own ID rather than being lumped together with a metadata value, it's just sloppily put together but it's an efficient system if used right

They could optimize a lot like that, but then you couldn't properly change those things using texturepacks. Want to change redstone to be blue? Too bad you need to mod the code. Want to change gold blocks? Too bad diamond looks different now too.
Of course, if they made a fucking modding API and created every graphic element using that, you could just do whatever you wanted while they could still optimize like that, but they're lazy faggots.
>then item drops could have been optimized by using a single hashmap but instead it's been hardcoded into blocks what they'll drop

Maybe you live under a rock but said previous combat update has been whined about for ages, this one is wanted by the majority because the last one was considered garbage and they refuse to scrap it.
The screenshot doesn't make it seem like a work sink anyway, if the update is small its probably the performance stuff that does it.Nothing is stopping Savannahs from getting a lot of bells and whistles in the first place
>Why on Earth would you need dyed wood when you have terracotta and wool and concrete
Because its a unique texture? Wood is a nice texture to look at so why not have more versions of it; it might be niche but why shouldn't they exist?

Who's to say they aren't, they added range and speed; its logical to add some things to show it off.

They very well might be planning that, the snapshot has weapon reach implemented with swords having a larger reach I think. Sounds perfect for implementing long reaching spears/pikes and short reaching knives.
Though the only reason I'd like instead of calling you a faggot that is to get tribal nigger skins with my spear and go mob people with friends yelling ooga booga

Why the fuck have they not implemented Java combat to Bedrock yet?
Also, fuck how unbalanced the monsters are. I get wither skeletons for example, that's fine, they're needed for an endgame thing. But Aquatic Zombies do four or more times the damage of regular zombies while also being far more versatile in their movement (equivalent speed on land but much faster in the water). Those, and Phantoms as well, make armor essentially a necessity, at which point the original four enemies are barely able to kill you if you stand still for ten minutes.

After a quick first puzzle, you are in the room in first pic. You need two keys to unlock the door in the middle.
Pic 2 is one of the rooms, a piston/lever puzzle. One player flicks the levers on the wall and the other moves through an obstacle course. Once the first player clears it, there's a set of different levers on top that the first player now has to use to let the second player through the course as well.
Pic 3 is the second room, a clock puzzle with torches in item frames. You have to figure out the four item frames (three of which you can see here) from four hallways, each with their own mini-clock item frame puzzles.
Once you beat those two rooms and get the keys from each, you can move on.
Pics 4 and 5 are a boss. He opens and closes his mouth and the dispensers shoot arrows at you. You have to use a bow you find right before this boss to hit the boss' eyes (the buttons on quartz blocks) to kill him.
For the first room in pic 2, you can actually progress after the first player gets through, but if both players make it, they can take separate paths at the end, step on two pressure plates and open a secret chest (with the Zelda secret jingle, of course), which had a Flint and Steel. The Flint and Steel lets you light a set of logs in the final room to get two Ender Chests as a secret reward.

Yeah, and 99.99% of people doing the whining wanted it reverted back to the old combat because "they changed it so it sucks". I guarantee, I FUCKING guarantee, nobody is going to like the new combat changes, either. The people complaining before will still want old combat, and the people who are playing now will want it reverted back to the way it is now.

The popularity bump came WAY before he started playing. In fact, it corresponded roughly with when the aquatic update dropped (about a year ago), because it was a huge change for the way the game looks and is played, especially in the beginning game. You can choose to not go mining, and instead raid shipwrecks and underwater ruins for diamonds and gold and shit. Plus it was something people have been asking for since forever, seeing how oceans used to be nothing but gravel and sometimes squid. More to the point, because it was a change to terrain generation, you have to make a new world if you want your spawn areas to be like that. People who had been uninterested in playing because they had mature worlds with everything they needed suddenly found themselves (possibly for the first time in years) starting the game over from scratch.
Another way to look at it: PDP is a businessman. He has made his millions FOLLOWING trends, not creating them. It would be enormously stupid for him to choose to start playing a game that's not popular; but it makes perfect sense for him to jump on a bandwagon that's just starting to roll. The fact that the timing was close enough for some people (like you) to think he DID create the current trend is part of his strategy of duping dumb kids into thinking he's more influential than he really is.

I remember the days before survival was introduced, and it's amazing how much time and effort people spent on using the limited blocks to build shit in extremely tiny worlds.
I remember the first introduction of fluids like water and lava that would flood the entire build area from the ceiling down, and I think people had more fun with that, than they have with infinite worlds and more building blocks, and I think the problem is that with all the space and variety, it's harder to decide what to actually do with it all, and you end up burned out from deciding.
When the world was just a tiny box you had to work within limits and that imposed limit gave way to creative solutions when building structures to fit.
Personally I never made anything other than hidden swastika bunkers on various servers, but it was still fun to hide them and wait for someone to find it.
With survival, I'm pissed there wasn't more effort put into contraptions, the addition of the furnace cart seemed really promising, like it would give way to functional trains or mechanical traps or whatever, and instead the furnace cart was fucking useless because it barely had enough strength to push a cart, since the cart's hitbox pushed against the furnace cart with almost equal force, if there was an incline your carts would just change direction instead of one cart pushing the other uphill, with the solution not to make the furnace cart stronger, but to add specialized tracks to boost the carts…
It still never became practical to use the carts or tracks because it took more effort to make and use them than to just walk the distance.
This is making me want to go back to refactoring vanilla but I've got too much shit on my plate as it is so I'll just post one of my early fuckups.

The bump isn't exactly what you make it out to be, it looks like a escalation to me; the "bump" that happens before PDP looks like the usual fluctuation with an update.
It does make the origin hard to see but, the secret is that minecraft never died; as in PDP always had it as an option as it never dipped low enough for it to be non-profitable.

Like everything in minecraft with the exception of the basic tools. Not only are the available contraption blocks sparse, they're worth nothing because they're either useless or take too much effort to build. Tracks and minecarts should have been fun, but they fucked it all up.

Furnace minecarts are useful for moving mobs (particularly villagers) over very long distances when you don't want to take the time to set up powered rails, because the line is only going to be used a couple of times. I remember they used to be buggy and useless like you described, but now they work gangbusters. A few pieces of coal and they go flying off at greater than sprint speed.
>the problem is that with all the space and variety, it's harder to decide what to actually do with it all
I mentioned in another thread that Minecraft is as sandboxy as a sandbox game can possibly get. There are no instructions, no tutorial, no guide; you're just plopped into wilderness with nothing but your fists and left to figure shit out. Oh sure, NOW with achievements and the crafting book and shit you have some help, but for the most part it still feels purposefully directionless. You still have to go in there and decide what you are going to do, rather than let the game take your hand and tell you what to do.
Everyone is going to go through a childish phase of building edgy shit like swastikas and curse words and giant dicks, and cackling like a maniac while blowing shit up and flooding things with lava and lighting mobs on fire; but that's not the point. (That's like saying the point of chess is what happens when you give a set to a toddler and he throws the pieces at the wall and laughs.) If you never get past that phase and actually start building things, then you've never actually played the game. If all you did was whatever it took to beat the Ender Dragon and considered that was all, you never actually played the game. If all you did was PvP and grief other players, you never actually played the game. Even on a multiplayer server, Minecraft is a fundamentally solitary experience, where the choice is entirely yours, and there are no rules (for the most part, not even gravity). It's a game about looking at a blank spot and deciding something should go there, and then making it exist.

I don't understand what people hated about 1.9? I think it significantly improved combat beyond just "click super fast and win." Minecraft is a game that thrives off of simplicity, but I really think the old combat wasn't simple, it was just unfun because it was whoever has the best gear wins and your only choices now are fight if you have the advantage or run away if they have stronger gear. At least now there's a cooldown and you can defend yourself with a shield.

My point is that Dragon Quest Builders and Minecraft are similar in only the most shallow of comparisons and for you to equate them is the same as someone equating Mario and Sonic, or Splatoon and Resident Evil 4. I wanna build cool big shit and wire redstone to it to make it fancy and neat. I don't want to deal with annoying NPCs and some "story". The NPCs and requirements to build them shelters is why I said DQB is closer to Terraria than Minecraft.

There really is no direct alternative to Minecraft. The only two "clones" that are worthwhile that I know of is Terraria and DQ Builders. Both of which are great games in their own right but they aren't really the same as Minecraft in several ways.
Other MC clones are either just wholesale ripoffs or are just nostalgia clones of MC classic or something like that.
What exactly are you looking for?

I dig that there isn't an exact path to follow for progress. I had a bunch of unused blocks of the new stones and I decided to use them to build a very high tower tower with the nether portal, and to make returning home from there easier I was making railroads that would've connected the place where you spawn after leaving the nether, the tower, and my house. They could've been used in another manner but their end goal would've been the same.
What I don't dig is how the game treats punishment. There is no reason to be worried about dying in a cave, the only issue is that it gets tedious backtracking to where the dropped loot lies. And if it's not that, it's either Do or Die.

Have you tried Dwarf Fortress? That's the only vaguely similar game that I know of that is both highly open ended but also heavily punishes failure. If that's not your thing then the only other game I can recommend is Terraria in expert mode.

I don't want anything special, just QoL improvements. I don't want the game to be too complicated. If you know anything that fits the "theme" of Minecraft, isn't complicated, and is fun and interesting. Specifically in terms of loot and exploration, since I find those two things, specifically the former, to be especially disappointing.
Blogpost incoming:
I really enjoy the fun of a Minecraft multiplayer where there is a tight-knit small (<10) community involved. It adds an extra layer of trade and "international trade" to the game and rewards living on the "frontier" away from the town the rest of the server lives in. The server that I am referring to is owned by a friend of mine and I was having a blast on the server. However, the other day they changed the map back to some shitty old map that we played in 2015 that I don't like and is out of date. I don't want to be rude and force them to change back by telling them (they're really nice people so they'd probably do it) because it seems everybody is enjoying and playing the map more than they ever have on the new map. I don't want to take that away, but now I can't enjoy the server anymore. What do I do?

They just rush you out of nowhere and if you were unlucky to have 2 of them spawn together or JUST at the right time and place when you already are fighting something they basically get a few free hits off you or corner you if you were in a small area. Early game nightmare.
Also
>They add tipped arrows, arrows imbued with potions effects
>You need dragon's breath, aka you need to be in front of the End Dragon or to resummon the dragon to bottle his breath
Why do they have this stupid habit of adding a cool feature that is FUN to use, or a cosmetic that looks nice, and then require you to be end game or make it really expensive to get? While leaving so many early/mid game items that are fucking useless like zombie meat or spider eye aside from very specific uses?

I like Grimoire of Gaia 3 because i love the mobs it adds, and the difficulty.
Tinker's Construct i love as well as Storage Drawers. I know there are better storage mods that let you keep infinite amounts of items in a few blocks with search buttons and all, but the drawers are just simple and clean, and look good. OpenBlocks is one i use a lot just because i like that it lets me store exp and making gliders. Recently i started using Animania.
I also use Forestry, just because i really like all the wood color variety it adds but i really dont understand bees and beekeeping. I know how to do it but when i need to breed them into useful bees it all falls appart on me.
