Rights dispute. When Bethesda bought Id a lot of games got taken down but then were brought back. Some were even put up (Like Quake 4 was put up). Wolfy09 was removed iirc because of a rights dispute with Activision who published it. Presumably one that Bethesda doesn't give a shit to resolve since it was a commercial failure and they've since made vastly more popular sequels. Rights disputes are also why Heretic 2 isn't on Steam.

After what Randy did with Duke, I think he should just stay dead. The fans have years' worth of mods and they will keep modding DN3D in the future. If DNF 2001 ever releases, it'll just be the last nail on the coffin. There's nothing for Duke to come back to - even if a new game comes out, either it'll be pozzed to hell and back (assuming Gearbox does it), or SJW's will reeee it to death, or, like DNF 2011, it'll fail to provide on expectations. Maybe, someone could take a shot in 10 to 15 years from now.
You know, now that I think of it, none of the Build games ended up well. Duke is dead, nu-Shadow Warrior is mediocre and Blood is under Atari's iron fist (and, like Duke, it risks being pozzed or shit if a new game ever comes out). Oh, and there's also Ion Maiden, but it's pozzed, so who cares.
