Wakfu has been ruined beyond any hope of repair by constant fuck ups, system changes, dumbing down and general incompetence. Please do not touch Wakfu, it is a complete waste of time and you will be filled with regret if you do. The game is near dead, low levels are almost entirely on their own and new players have an incredibly high attrition rate, so any pals you make early (if you even find any) likely won't hang around. After that you can then enjoy having to shell out a large amount every month for subscription to access endgame content, and then the heroes system to be able to actually play that content, because other people sure as hell aren't going to drop one of their heroes to let your sorry ungeared ass into their Zinit groups. Even if you do spend 3000 hours climbing to peak endgame, congratulations, you have nothing to fucking do because the only worthwhile form of PvP is friendly duels with the same faggots you've dueled 100 times already. The "PvP system" they've introduced is simultaneously more convoluted and an order of magnitude shittier than the basic king of the hill system that has existed in Dofus for a decade, and is mostly populated by autistic retards who farm mobs in the PvP arenas to give their nation a useless stat bonus no one cares about. To top it all off Ankama are currently in the process of removing any and all points of interest from the game's maps and dungeons, because secrets and hidden details were part of the old design philosophy, the new one involves sterile, dead shitholes flooded with cut-down mob families, cookie cutter area quests and nothing of interest whatsoever. The game is completely fucked.
The main Dofus servers aren't worth touching unless you have weapons grade autism, because keeping pace with endgame players requires playing multiple accounts at once. There are mono-account servers which are marginally more approachable, but even then you'll generally have a hard time getting people to help you/play with you, and even with one account, progressing in Dofus requires completing a shitload of fucking boring quests. Many of the quests do have good rewards but they are incredibly time consuming and unique features/puzzle fights and the like are only encountered at the end of the Dofus quests, besides that every other quest is composed entirely of running around talking to NPCs or collecting random mats. Some of these quests also call for expensive mats, so you won't want to complete them until you're loaded even if they're low level quests. Dofus is head and shoulders above other MMOs as far as I'm concerned, so give it a try if you actually want to catass an MMO all day, but the quests are goddamn boring and early levels are dead, it has a robust PvP system and seems to improve with every update.

Wakfu is such a goddamn shame and waste of resources. Its amazing how somethign that was so good during the beta just does a complete 180 and dives deep into the opposite end of the spectrum in every way possible. Every single design decision just being fucked up in beyond salvaging and all they do now is continue revamping classes and mechanics over and over and over as if that was gonna make a single difference. As if the reason people drop the game is because of balancing and not because it has become the blandest most generic thing out there, completely shitting on every single thing that made the game unique.
One of the biggest examples of this was how during the beta, every nation had several towns that specialized in different crafting jobs. Each town had crafting machines for those respective jobs so unless you had a machine of your own in your haven bag you needed to go to the corresponding town to do weapon crafting of armor, weapons, jewelry or baking. This was a simple thing but had a huge effect in the game: People that did a certain type of crafting a lot would spend more time and gather on those towns and set their market stalls there. The markets were specific for each town, using the marketplace board didnt show you ALL the things from the whole nation, only from the markets set up in the respective town. This leads to each town and their markets organically enforcing specialisation of goods, so if you wanted to buy weapons or armors you knew to go check the market in X town over some others. This helped move players around the world, people traveling from one town to the other either by walking or by portal. You could still find what you were looking for in the market of another town or in an open field, but you would know that those other town markets would have more merchandise of another type. A simple decision like this made the game feel more alive as you would always see people moving around in every town. This back when they wanted the game to focus not on having quests but to reward exploration and player interaction, so much that finding many secrets in an area would reward you, on top of the items in those secret rooms, with trophies, cosmetics or minimal stat buffs for your Gemlin pet (RIP Gemlin you didnt deserve this).
The way things are NOW is that every single crafting station exists withing a few feet from one another in the very first town of every nation, with the portal and market board right behind them. I believe the market board is now nation wide if not global, so there is absolutely no reason to TRAVEL anywhere. Maps are empty, people just use portals to go from the first town straight into dungeons or grinding areas, then portal right back. Maps empty, towns dead, market exploration boring as now everyone knows the exact amount of items in the market and their value. Hell something as simple as finding a cool deal on a rare weapon when exploring stray haven bags in an open field was fun because market prices, location/exposure and rarity were more vague back then so the price range was more varied.
Im also still mad that they cancelled Dofus Arena for "not gathering enough interest" when they released a beta ONLY on the french website despite the beta having english translations, and didnt update it for a year. And people were STILL playing it despite all that. Fucking Ankama, so many amazing artists and writers but some dumb fucks in suits with money walk in demanding to make things more like WoW and killing the fucking games.
