I'm about to give pic related another play through. I will be installing the 12 turns per year mod and perhaps the no realm divide mod, but I want to see if there are some other mods that are recommended by anons.

Also Total War thread I guess. Any one play the TW: Three Kingdoms yet? Is it worth picking up? How about TW: Warhammer?

Medieval 2 music is too good

>three kingdumbs

was much better than I thought it was going to be, but I'd suggest holding off on playing it until the mods start rolling out to fix up the issues

>WaWa

Can be fun, but its really poorly optimized and I can't bring myself to finish any of the campaigns.

I haven't played it but everything my friend has said about it triggers me something fierce. It's my favorite time period and they seem to have fucked up anything remotely close to immersive gameplay for the period. Each leader is almost completely the same, just with minor stat changes, some of which don't even make sense. Dong Zhuo gets a diplomacy boost. Lu Bu gets a boost to happiness in his settlements. The best strategy in the game seems to be lining up a wall of archers and immediately decimating the enemy. Someone let me know if any of this is wrong.

Playing Fall of the Samurai right now. Pretty fun but navel battles are fucked. The biggest crime of this game is the absence of bayonets

The game looks pretty, but I saw some complaints where after around 100~120 turns the notable heroes starts dying off due to old age. If anything Dong Zhou should get a diplomacy penalty since he managed to piss off every single warlord in the time between the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the fall of the Han Dynasty. From some of the vids I've seen the easiest strat is to get Lu Bu through trade asap, make him the heir to keep him happy, and then use him to steamroll all opposition because he starts off with the best gear/horse in the game, and his abilities are all overpowered.

Its kinda shitty that naval battles can't autoresolve properly.

Glad to hear it, because my friend was telling me that Lu Bu wasn't much better than any other commander on the field. I'm quite happy she's wrong.

Skip to 22:50. The guy playing is new at TW, so you can tell how reliant he is on Lu Bu to save his ass. Here Lu Bu starts off at half health because the guy playing made him charge into spearman, which apparently have some bullshit ability to reflect damage from charges back to the cavalry.

That's how spears have worked since at least the first Rome game.

New to me I guess. I always just stacked archers.

Is Rome I still the best?

I'd wish for TW games set in the pyke and shot era and even WW1 but i'm afraid i'll get monkey pawed with today's CA. Why does CA has no competition anyway? do they have a patent on those gameplay mechanics or what?

Also TW is the ideal podcast background.

Weren't bayonet charges a meme?

Shows what you know, faggot.

Spears have always had the ability to brace against charges, thus NEGATING THE CHARGE BONUS STAT of the attacking unit and they had a flat combat bonus against mounted units.

In my experience as Liu Bei, the three amigos combo instakills Lu Bu easily.

You forgot the general classes that limit your conventional (not elite) troop recruitment.

Each general class can only hire the normal troops of their respective specialization. The highest tier troops (dragon troops) seem to be exempt from this.

Otherwise, it's pretty accurate. Never forget your Strategist in each army for repeating crossbow+holocaust catapult.

Alternatively, Azure Dragons for every general: They have the mullet formation, elite glaives in front, elite bows in back. An army with literally nothing but generals + Azure Dragons is highly viable, but also highly expensive.

If RTW1 had the risk style campaign map like STW1 and MTW1 it would be the best game ever made.

Actually had a purpose until the world got smokeless powder which lead to reliable machine guns that could fire for days on end.

>shilling this blatantly

At least try and blend in by using invidio or webms. How can you be so bad at this?

5677df  No.16657082

I gave up on this series when they decided to sell two unique factions as different kinds of exclusive DLC and charged extra money for blood on top of that. Just checked Steam for their latest abortion, and of course the two paid DLCs it has are $3 blood mod and a cut faction sold for an extra $8. It just needs a way to buy in-game currency with real money and you'll have a masterpiece to rival DMC5.
