The whole of the 3ds and wiiu hacking community is on it, so there's a lot of effort. Right now it's running N64 emulators well, but there's a limited selection of homebrew games, and I dont know how mods are.

You can put an sd card in the system natively and pirate games that way.

I'm not sure if you want games out of it or an actual productive tablet, if its the former, thats up to your tastes, but get something in the DS or PSP family instead. For the latter, dont buy this as a productivity machine, I don't believe it supports external keyboard input yet through ubuntu.

Flashing Linux to the Switch is already fairly painless, only about 7 steps.

Linux is already running on the Switch, with docking support. If you hook up a USB keyboard and mouse to the dock, it basically becomes a full fledged computer.

The big convenience it has is that it can run .xci cart images but that's about it. Supposedly emuNAND is coming soon for non-SX OS.

Note that RCM exploits are tethered. If you fully shut down the system (or run out of power) you need to reinject the payload. This requires a PC/tablet/phone. With your android phone and the proper usb cable you can coldboot into CFW directly.

Manga is sadly mainstream as fuck. I try to find interesting series to read, just the other day I downloaded 300 of them in a batch. I'm going through them by size but the scan quality of these things is terrible even on a tablet. Don't worry about the serial killer thing. Manga isn't even edgy. It's frankly too tame. All early production Switches have the same hardware exploit due to the Tegra SoC, however depending on what firmware you're on putting anything on your Switch using the hardware exploit becomes difficult, and the chances of a true, all in one, coldboot cfw solution being available for newer firmwares is nil.

Only issue with laptops is that you're usually buying them from kikes and they break since they're pre-built and you're sol. But so are consoles so hey? I really don't mind limited mobility though since I'm not traveling the world. Laptops work fine in air travel and car rides. The only people who are REALLY concerned with mobility are probably jobs that require a bunch of traveling and moving which is in the minority of consumers lets be honest. And at that point you probably won't have the time to explore a library larger than a hand held.
