did any of you ever get this to work? i can't get silent hill 3 to work and i've been polishing it for like an hour because i thought what was wrong was that there was a scratch on the DRM portion of the disc. i polished a throwaway demo disc so the surface looks identical and the demo disc works fine. my silent hill 2 disc also doesn't work for some reason, the ps2 just refuses to spin it at full speed. i pop in silent hill 1 and it works. silent hill 4 works. mgs3 subsistence works. what the fuck is wrong with my ps2.

d952a6  No.16558314

I occasionally got it to work. Rubbed it in with my finger tips around the entire bottom disk for about five minutes then rinsed with warm water and dried. Could never get it to work with those purpleish disks though.

Sandpaper would, but toothpaste can make a great polishing compound. You can remove a comparatively large amount of material from the bottom layer of a CD without fucking it up. Every CD repair method is either going to attempt to use a filler on the scratches, or polish them by removing material.

No, the only guetto fix that works is using a pencil eraser and rubbing alcohol to fix cartridges or anything with contacts like the PS2 memory card.

If you want to fix a scratched disc take it to a game shop or library and ask them to resurface it, it costs 50 cents per disc.

If you are trying to play the Xbox version I've successfully ripped a scratched Xbox game to it's hard disk and it played perfectly fine from the rip. If it's the PS2 version you could just rip it to your PC and if that doesn't work you might as well just download the ISO cause we all know damn well that the physical game is just for show on your shelf anyways.

If it's a very surface level scratch then yes it can. The whole point of polish is to remove the very top layer of whatever substance you're polishing, that way you can remove whatever scratches/paint layer/gunk and expose the next layer. If you have a surface scratch on a disk or a glass screen then polishing it will help, if it's a severe gouge though polishing will do next to nothing because you need to polish until you remove all of the area around the gouge.

How do you retards think car/floor polish works?

You just made it sound even more ghetto rigged than it already is. In 99% of cases you can just use polish to avoid removing a layer. If it's really that bad you should use a disc buffer which has really really fine sand paper, but even a disc buffer with polish would most likely solve problems you can't fix by hand without removing layers. Even if you can't afford the disc buffer I would think something like Melamine foam (Mr. Cleans Magic Eraser is made of this stuff) would work better which is also extremely cheap (unless you buy Mr. Clean).

Because I have Charter (a pretty big ISP) and I torrent on a proxy literally every day, and I can utilize my full bandwidth with no problems.

>can you tell me why there are no sites for ROMs or games other the TPB?

TPB isn't the end-all-be-all of torrenting, you know. There are tons of torrent sites. You don't even need an actual website to host torrents; trackers can exist without www.helpmeimafuckingretard.com, and magnet links made torrent files obsolete. If you're looking for direct download sites where you can just click "download" and it happens in your browser window, there's a fucking reason they're disappearing. Because they rely on the file being hosted directly by the website owner, which puts him at great personal legal risk.

Educate yourself before you release more embarrassments upon this thread.

Polishing ALWAYS removes a layer. What you're removing is microns thick, but you are still removing material. Scratches themselves cannot be removed. They can be filled in, or you can remove the material around the scratch to even out the surface. Fillers would be something like car wax or a ceramic coating and aren't applicable to compact discs.

Disk Rot is just the name for a phenomena that poorly taken care of disks tend to be breeding grounds for molds and shit that eat the disk.

Disks themselves don't rot, but a disk that has become a viable surface for biological factors to continue to damage is a thing, and it's why Cleetus's copy of Gran Tourismo that he hasn't touched since he was a bab with greasy fingers suspiciously has gotten worse despite sitting still in a case.

**Hint, it's the fresh air, and food particles that were inside scratches in the disk, not the disk fairy magically obliterating parts of the disc for years.

Used it many times on my gamecube discs and ps2 discs, they even had a disc repair machine there that I would pay a couple dollars to fix used discs I bought. I fucking worked. I could visibly see the cracks in the disc filled in. Like i said earlier. Did you even live a couple decades ago?

e2da22  No.16570993

the thing they used was a proper resurfacing machine, which removes material to bring the thickness down to match the depth of scratches, making them disappear. i'm not wasting a dollar on that filler shit, i'd rather just buy another copy of silent hill 2 and 3 instead.

9370b0  No.16571001

>>16570993

Yes because silent hill 2 discs will still be produced in decades to come right. I took a disc that didn't work and used that shit on it and it worked. The tougher jobs with discs that booted terribly required the resurfacing machine. Things are good now just buy another disc right?

e2da22  No.16571005

>>16571001

i'd rather just mail it into a resurfacing company.

9370b0  No.16571010

>>16571005

That's good. Hope they still exist in the future. Also hope they send that shit back because xbox said they'd re[air my dead consoles, nike said they'd repair my broken shoes and I still havent't had 2 360's or my air maxs returned to me repaired after a decade.

e2da22  No.16571017

>>16571010

the company who made the thing has a reason to not service your stuff, because they have billions of dollars and can shit down the throats of their customers with no negative repercussions. as far as i know, most resurfacing operations are just a dude who bought a machine and probably makes just enough money to keep the lights on. they actually rely on their customers good will so they can't afford to treat you like you're worthless.

e2da22  No.16571030

>>16571010

also when i say it's just a guy who bought a machine, i'm referring to collectors and sellers who sell used games on ebay. they buy it to refurbish the stuff they sell and the stuff in their collection, but you can make money off of the service itself, so why not turn a profit. these guys are not millionaires.

>He doesn't know the cardboard trick.

Or maybe that was the PS1.

Just put your disc in the fridge NOT THE FREEZER for 5 minutes before playing. Quick wipe with a cloth before putting it in the disc tray.

Failing that put your disc AND YOUR PS2 in the fridge for 5 minutes before use. Worked for me.

Does disc resurfacing with fine sandpaper and toothpaste work on ps2 games? Would the disc be really vulnerable after the process or can you use it as usual? I recently took my old ps2 slim and my games out of the attic and four of them don't work at all and one of them works but barely. I cleaned all of them with a washing liquid. I'd hate to lose matrix path of neo , tekken 5 and 50 cent bulletproof

Actually, two good ways are rubbing a bit of banana on the disc, or liquid soap. I don't know which stupid fucking nigger decided toothpaste.
