Do they exist nowadays? I was playing Witcher 3 and got bored of only running around Novigrad in a very scripted and restricted RPG.

Can someone recommend a good RPG where the character travel to different cities, duchies and kingdoms? Not Skyrim, of course, as that one is not a RPG but a autistic brawler game.

97b578  No.16429751

Are you basically asking for open-world games?

db5651  No.16429762

>>16429751

Not the kind they do nowadays, where they put you in a rat experiment and let you run only there.

I was looking for a RPG with a world map, and different continents. Kinda like FF was in the past.

Funny you mention Witcher 3 as you do literally go to different places. 1 and 2 did this as well.

Darklands?

3f8171  No.16429934

Expeditions: Conquistador and Viking have what you are looking for I believe. It's Fallout 1 and 2 style where you travel around a world map and can have random encounters on the road, while also having to keep your party happy, fed and give them enough sleep. Kinda Oregon Trail style in a way. Note I haven't played Conquistador, only Viking, but they both still share much of the same.

Minimal overland travel, lots of piloting your ship.

>Wild Arms series

Has a scouting mechanic where you have to wander around scanning to find places you haven't visited yet. Skip 4.

kenshi, but it's only 1 continent

Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and especially X gave me an exploration boner.

Seconding Skies of Arcadia,it really is great.

Check out Grandia and Wild Arms too.

I always never used the quick travel option in rpg, me want to experience the feeling of travel by foot, think Lord of the rings Hobbit by feet to mountain doom, by the end I was exhausted! Me want same exhauastetive feelings in games like botw or Skyrim, gives me sense of travel, gives me sense that things r at stake, have to pack my bag with sandwiches every time I go up Snowden mountain in my home cou try of Wales. I can't quicktravel up Snowden mountain. Why should me have to have option of quick travel if me climb up virtual mountains if devs want to evoke same feeling of travel why add function quick travel? Sense of progress, seense of travel, please make backpack similator . Extra slice of salami inside the bun as a dlc?

I wish I could have played Skyrim with the proper mods.

-No Instant Travel. Caravans will take you from one big city to another but that's it. I would keep Teleport (blink/mark/recall) out of the game because immersion.

-Force you to eat because hunger affects stamina.

-Not sleeping properly in a proper bed will give you another stamina penalty.

-No health regeneration. Mana regen is fine.

-Cold/warmth. Travelling naked will be like having poison. Swimming in frozen lakes will also harm you. Pelts, torches and hot soups will help.

-Gold has weight.

It really kills the experience making everything so reachable.

>make it to the tallest mountain

>you need a fish

>Fast travel to a coast, get the fish, teleport back to the mountain

Fast Travel is extremely convenient but makes the world a smaller less special place.

fast travel exists to make up for the fact that the overworld is bland as fuck procedurally generated nothing. Nobody wants to travel back and forth for ages through a boring area where nothing ever happens, and fast travel makes them notice it less.

Only if you dont need to eat a full course meal every 2 minutes or else die of starvation with eating accompanied by a slack jawed faggot smacking his lips for 30 seconds

>-Not sleeping properly in a proper bed will give you another stamina penalty.

What kind of pussy can't go a night without their memory foam pillow and mattress?

The Courier, apparently. There's a perfectly good ground to sleep on, but that's not good enough for some assholes.

Not all are RPGs, but:

Morrowind, Fallout 2, New Vegas, Skies of Arcadia, Titan Quest and Grim Dawn, Pokemon Snap, and some of the Big Bass Fishing games.

199a22  No.16435599

what about the meme rpg with "Henry" or whatever as MC, I pirated it, deleted it, can't remember the name, was it open/big?

all ES/FO games are decently open world, that is the only they do.

Kenshi / Mount and Blade are great too

7994e0  No.16442856

>>16429738

Other elder scrolls games then? Also the old RPGs like Might and Magic, Ultima, Darklands, etc have a lot of traveling.

>>16429880

But it sucked for travelling.

>>16432423

There are already survival modes for skyrim, both fanmade and official content.

>Gold has weight.

If Skyrim had a bank where you could deposit your gold like in Daggerfall, that would be fine.

>>16435599

Kingdom Come. It's a moderately sized game, but don't expect Elder Scrolls level of exploration. It's pretty boring and sluggish actually.

4bfca4  No.16442934

And morrowind does not use fast travel (save for silt strider and similar, but those aren't what we're talking about). Your point?

FF IV. You travel to a dozen different kingdoms at least.

LOTRO does indeed still exist. In fact, they did a "retro" server where it started out at Angmar and they re-release the expansions every now and then.

Kenshi is still the best suggestion ITT though.

Unfortunately the island was too big and had to much repetitive environment to not be boring.
