I had only just realized April was Autism Awareness Month. Thought this would be a comfy thread to talk about autism in a safe space.

What inconsequential little details do you know about some game?

What length did you go to to do completely unreasonable goals?

What kinds of things do you know from other players, devs, who did these kinds of things?

Everyone knows about beating SM64 with only a few select A-presses, but there's been a lot of documentation and coverage for a lot of old games. Doing challenges no one asked for or revealing things that no one probably should've ever discovered just by doing insane things. It's as if games today are so shitty that some people have found more joy in learning every byte of 15-25 year old games instead. Bear in mind, I'm not talking about the general trivia of games or stuff, but more the individuals or small groups who have dedicated their lives to understanding the most trivial things of games like pannenoken. Video related.

Prefer to post webm or mp4 when you can. Invidious does a lot to prevent Google's tracking, but they can't fully keep you safe while accessing Google's servers unless they proxied the connection entirely through their own servers, which they don't (because they couldn't afford the bandwidth necessary to do that). You're still downloading directly from googlevideo.com and all that implies.

I think there's a way to get it to work without the googlevideo contact. You're not wrong though. I considered doing that, but also figured I'm sharing the channels in general. I should get a compressor for Windows or figure FFMPEG out. I don't have access to Linux at the time where I was able to do that more.

Format 43 is what I grabbed. It works for most shorter videos without issue.

Wanting to share the channels is understandable, though.

It's sad that HTML5 video came as late as it did. YouTube came about because video streaming on the web was complete fucking shit. Now HTML5 video makes embedding and sharing videos easy and convenient (I still haven't figured out why 8ch does its weird player.php nonsense instead of just expanding directly into a video element and including the controls as hidden elements that display when the video swaps out for the thumbnail). If HTML5 video came earlier, we probably wouldn't have this horrible video monoculture that we have, as everybody would be more able to just host their own video files in a functional way. The only delimiter there is bandwidth.

Anyway, I should probably continue with some thread-appropriate content.

7a7bc5  No.16349632

>>16349612

There's usually a pastebin link detailing how to make and properly encode webms that gets posted every webm thread or so.

b77c2c  No.16349653

>>16349612

It used to be harder, but now it's just learning how to use ffmpeg (that is, learning what all the important flags do and how to arrange them to get the result you want), and then doing two-pass encoding with high CPU parameters, either using CRF (for constant quality) or average bitrate for targeting a specific video size.

If you're targeting vp9 (the common case with webm): https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Encode/VP9 This is going to be soon surpassed by AV1.

For audio, it's just using libopus, choosing an appropriate bitrate, deciding whether to encode with voip or not, and deciding whether you need one or two audio channels (noting that two-channel opus is very heavily optimized due to the amount of redundant audio information between the channels and often ends up only very slightly bigger than one-channel).

>>16349644

Yeah yeah, we've got it, the kikes are everywhere and control everything and there's a Jew in your potted house plant. Read the OP and contribute to the thread or fuck off.

b77c2c  No.16349666

>>16349653

>>16349612

Also note that it varies based on the type of video and audio. The video stream there has a lot of redundant information, and a lot of long-lasting solid visuals, allowing it to heavily compress. You wouldn't get anywhere near the same filesize for that quality if it were a film or something of the sort. The audio is also mostly speech with no music, and speech audio compresses very well with opus.

7b8f42  No.16349867

>>16349653

I would love to learn more about video encoding. I had a hell of a time trying to squeeze Never Gonna Give You Up into a particular gamecube iso's splash screen for some game just to see if I could. Unfortunately there was only so much I could do with such an unforgiving size constraint, the proprietary format encoder, and my current knowledge, so the audio ended up generation 9001 VHS tape quality in order to fit. It was still cool to see it play in Dolphin though.

Planetside 2’s engine is a spagetti coded version of Free Realms’ engine

The grenade physics in Planetside 2 are curious in the way that the hitbox of the grenade is the size of a beachball, thats why it rolls around doorframes

Planetside 2’s game engine makes it so where if you have a shit frame rate (read under 80) your weapon fire rate will be affected. Which means anything over 750 rpm is essentially garbage

The red dot sight in planetside 2 is still off center to the left

To win gunfights in planetside 2, it is more advantageous to duck behind cover and rush out before engaging, because of how the server communicates with the client (read as a more severe case of peekrs advantage)

For the longest time the forward grip code in Planetside 2 would adversely effect certain weapon accuracy due to the accuracy values becoming inverse after attatching it to the weapons

I have more autistic knowledge of this game, I’m just at work

But if you want autistic, you talk to anyone in Planetside 2 who has above a 2 kdr

https://volafile.org/get/CJISaQcbVxNBC/SFD_Pack_3.rar

The game was Evolution Worlds, but it would probably work for any game using softdec video as long as the files aren't otherwise compressed on the disc. Although you could get lucky with binwalk and see if they used a standard compression like gzip. Another thing that helps is that I guess the way the videos are muxed, it can be played back in mpv without reencoding, it's just that the audio won't be decoded and you can't seek.
