Appreciate the effort, but the program you linked doesn't fix the hud and viewmodel issues at widescreen resolutions, it just changes the resolution which you can already do by using launch options, modifying your cfg or just doing it directly from the console. But you bunnyhop harder in UT than in Quake. Specially with the whole dodge system and translocators in CTF.
Quake's weapons are more balanced though, you can very clearly kill everyone in 2-3 hits with everything that isn't a machinegun or a plasmagun, and those last two are more for area denial and long range suppression than pure burst.

"bunnyhop" specifically referring to the system where if you jump, strafe, and turn the camera a certain way you gain speed. That's very very different from a system where you use the dodges, jumps and tools given to you to go as fast as intended. Aside from being unnecessarily difficult, bunny hopping also leads to a more ballistic movement pattern and shorter engagements, whereas UT2k4's dodges are designed to prolong engagements.
Of course, whenever (or if) people actually start playing on the server here, nobody will actually USE the bunnyhopping, because it's an advanced "skill" that if anyone here even knows how to use it, they still won't be able to do it consistently enough to make it useful. As a result, the gameplay when it finally happens will be much slower and stiffer than UT was, simply because there are no basic movement options besides running and a single jump.

I'd say go with re-volt to help give variety, because game nights tend to get over saturated with FPS, and it is currently winning the poll. Granted using polls is a mistake, and people need to realize this when Mario Kart 8 ended up winning the first poll two weeks ago, and we went back to Ace of Spades regardless of the results. We are going to need a way to figure out which games should be given priority though so we don't end up making the mistake of a gamenight with a game that no one wants to play.

Looks like Re-Volt is next on the list from looking at the poll. But i was hoping for Neverwinter Nights as well. It's on the first row of /radcorp/'s catalog, yet no one has tried to host. I'll see if i can get familiar with it. The 128 player support (for modded servers, the vanilla modules are designed for 6, i believe) and the D20 Modern assets have caught my attention.

I played for a bit Friday but there weren't nearly enough people on the server at that time and I mostly played Q3A for CTF mode. Tried to start a vote to change mode or at least change the map we played on 5-6 times in a row and no one was interested so I left.
Anyway, how long has it been since there was a /fightan/ game night? I know 3rd Strike was done awhile back but I don't think anyone has done one since then. It'd be fun to hold an anime fightan tournament on something like BB:CF or just do SF again and do something other than 3rd strike (SF4 would probably be good). That or KoF.
I'm pretty well burned out on FPS and I'm not playing anything with Vore in the title.

That's common and been a debate going since back in the day. I preferred Q3A to UT but enjoy playing both as long as the skill gap between all the players on the server isn't too bad. I was surprised to see so many complaining here about ping times when people regularly played all day on dial-up back when Q3A was in its heyday. If this would have been planned out better if would have been fun to play on the Dreamcast maps so those of us with the console could have played on the server. Would have limited how many could have been on the server at the same time but Dreamcast Q3A is pretty fun.

I prefer sprites as well but SF4 would be good just due to the fact that so many people own it or got it through give aways and it's easy to pirate. It also has a large roster with most people's favorites in it. Now that the abomination that is SFV has been out for a few years people are starting to look back on SF4 like they did on 3rd Strike. Lots of anons would probably enter the tournament just to be able to play it for a weekend.
3rd Strike tournament did well and generated some hype with people representing their own regions. I think the same thing would happen with SF4 given enough notice. I'd prefer to play another fightan like Blazblue or KoF but you'll be limiting the player pool by a lot if we go with those. Perhaps go full 3D and play something like Tekken instead?
