The Wii 'Classic Controller' is not only underrated, it's by far the best controller to date.

>dual analog sticks

>fits easily in anyone's hands

>dpad is great

>no unnecessary buttons or gimmicks

>$10

Shoulder buttons are analog too. Nintendo proved with the classic controller that you can make a fully functional gamepad better than anything on the market for $10. If console gaming was still about providing an efficient and cheap means of playing video games and not bloated normalfag social networking trash this would be top of the line what every console manufacturer would be trying to replicate, every button is there.

ac6942  No.16327160

Anything with both analog sticks close together so your thumbs bump into each other when you want to strafe right + look left is full retard. This includes the whole Playstation line, and the Wii Classic. Nintendo realized this with the revision in stick placement on the Wii U Pro, and Playstation FINALLY realized with the PS4 controller by spacing the sticks out more. Xbox 360 is the best controller ever designed, ergonomically. Which is why the Xbone uses the exact same design and the Switch Pro is a clone of it.

I had no idea it was so cheap. With some wii-to-usb cables, it may be better alternative to get a bunch of these instead of third party controllers for multiplayer, since those are always seem to be riddled with weird problems.

Have you ever actually used one? It's flimsy plastic shit. It holds together fine and is certainly better than the Wii remote, but just has a fragile, even more so than DS Lite, feel to it. It is vastly inferior to the GameCube, WiiU Pro, and Switch Pro controllers.

>wii u pro controller

Definitely the best controller of the last couple gens but it's still 3-4 times the price of the classic controller and no better, and twice as expensive as a dualshock 2 or 3 which is unforgiveable. Also from memory the shoulder buttons aren't analog.

>360

The dpad was useless. Literally no one used it for any game instead of the analog stick so it was only useful for switching grenades in Halo.

No one had issues with the analog sticks on the dualshock 2 or 3. If you're playing too much xbo of course it's going to feel weird going back but the xbox layout isn't better, it's just different.

The classic controller is severely underrated. I play with it on pc a lot of the time. It has a bare-bones feel to it and feels like a toy but that's part of the appeal. The buttons and sticks themselves don't feel cheap at all though.

Lies. The classic controller has analog shoulder buttons. Did they not also make r1/l1 digital for the dualshock3 or dualshock 4 controllers? I remember they were analog for dualshock 2 which was surprising because they never made use of it in anything.

>no grips

Unnecessary bloat. Sweat will make even a ps4 controller slippy, and when your hands get sweaty/clammy dry them off with paper towels. I'm honestly happy the classic controller doesn't have grips because it would ruin the minimalist design and probably bump the price tag up 10%.

A lot of this kind of bullshit could be avoided if people weren't lazy shits who can't even use a few seconds to search for something. Even if "proof" is posted if you are lazy and don't look into it you often miss that the "proof" wasn't proof at all, but merely a half-truth. So you can't be bothered to search even when you have enough relevant information to do so, but you can be bothered to read an article? Perhaps you don't even bother reading that either, but merely glance over it while extending it credibility it may not deserve.

289af9  No.16330035

Odd request here, but I have very small hands - literally the size of a 10 year old girl. Controllers are big for me. The classic controller is nice, but I'm wondering is there any decent gamepad that's even more compact, something someone with big hands would find uncomfortable?

This is mainly just so I can dickwave and feel special, I'd unironically spend $40 on a gamepad just so I can feel like there's something I can use that people who aren't genetically fucked cannot.

2b1ad1  No.16330052

The point of burden of proof is even if people contest whether it's valid or not, at least that argument can be worth something. The absolutely retarded back and forth that comes as a result of a subhuman retard going "dude just google XD" is never worth anything however and a fuckin stain on any thread. Yeah, there's going to be lazy retards and retards that never look at the proof and verify it if it's posted, but don't let the lowest common denominator drag quality down by just fucking throwing burden of proof away. That's retarded.

71fac9  No.16330174

Completely agree with OP. The SNES shape with analog sticks and analog shoulders is great. Sad that Nintendo never actually used the analog shoulder buttons.

bc4127  No.16330211

>>16330052

I can agree that in most cases "just google it" is lazy or even meant to take advantage of another's laziness. However I just have a problem with the whole spoonfeed me mindset regarding proof. Sometimes it takes a lot more effort to provide the proof necessary and often for no gain as it won't be looked into anyway. Where does the proof come from in the first place? From someone taking the time to look into it, record it, and pass it on. Yet that doesn't guarantee when you have such proof handed to you that it is genuinely true. Being told to look into it yourself can be lazy and it can be a cop out on occasion, but it is the only real way for you to truly make up your own mind on a matter. Just relying on the proof you are handed from someone trying to make a particular point can lead you down a path of half truths.

It is no different from vegans who accept claims about meat caused cancer from biased sources, when doing the diligence yourself can paint a clearer picture. That is but one example. A priori beliefs, laziness, and apathy can all prevent someone from learning to truth of a matter.

I personally find the best anons who respond to a "just google it" to be those who actually do so, and post the proof they found one way or another. They are better than both those who said "just google it" or "post the source" as they have shown the effort to find out for themselves. However "post the source" is as often abused as a means of avoiding changing one's opinion as "just google it" is to be lazy or avoid showing how weak or half-truthed the evidence for the claim was.

The original pic posted should be all you need for proof. Do you know anything about electronics? I can explain if you don't. The blown smc resistor is a filter, they shouldn't fail if the fuse was doing its job. It was getting cooked by drawing power with no attenuation. This is a one s pad but they have the same power circuitry, I've only seen it on xbone pads but if yours starts to heat up between the d pad and a button remove all power from it immediately. Some face buttons may become unresponsive as a tell. This will eventually spark and literally explode and cause other components and the board itself damage, rendering one of the two pcbs in the bone pad as dead, making it a paperweight. Be careful using these, they're the least reliable components this gen.

They're very poorly made controllers. If you've ever taken one apart its got two pcbs of mixed purpose, bodge wires running all over each board for things like motor power. The b button needs an elevated contact pad because they put the contact for it on what is mostly the power board. The boards sandwich together over a few jtag connectors. Rushed and poorly engineered are the only way i can describe them. Maybe that's why those elite controllers are so notorious.

It's really weird how they made them. No idea why it's so complicated. Makes sense why they fail so much however.

As good as the 8BitDo controllers look, I got myself a NES30 Pro and was really not impressed. It looks good, but the face buttons take too much force to press; the d-pad is too sharp (though I've heard that they fixed this); the shoulder buttons are really awkward to manipulate as a pair, take too much force, and feel like they're going to break; the connectivity is awful (like a 5 foot range, and it doesn't connect through almost any solid surface. I had trouble connecting it to a bluetooth dongle that was connected to the back of my PC); you can only pair it to one device as a time and in one mode at a time, so any time you want to do anything else with it, you have to re-pair it from scratch; the analog sticks are really shitty and heavily prefer the axes, if you push in a full diagonal, you get about 75% actuation on both X and Y directions instead of 100%, which is a pain to fix in software.

These are mostly all minor issues and easy to ignore, but all together, they add up to a shoddy-feeling controller that costs $50. If this was a $20 or even $25 controller, it would be definitely worth it, as a light little easy-stow controller that looks great. Even the sticks are nice and recessed to make it easy to put in a bag or pocket without snags. I really wouldn't recommend it.

I don't know if the SN30 Pro is better, but I kind of doubt it. The shoulder buttons and D-pad look better, but the analogs still look awkward and uncomfortable, and based on reviews, it still has high rate of defects and connectivity issues. For the price, you're really better off getting a Wii U Pro Controller or something.

Does anybody know of something that is a lot like the Wii U Pro Controller, but with analog triggers and wired connectivity? I love the Pro in almost every way, but the lack of analog triggers are a drag, and bluetooth is a bit of a pain in the ass, plus it doesn't properly report battery life to my PC, so I can't tell easily whether it's low or not.

There are analog triggers, and vibration works in an awkward way if you pair it with a Wiimote. The rest of your complaints are 100% valid, though, and you forgot that you have to either plug it into a Wiimote and connect through bluetooth or use a shoddy third-party adapter to even use the fucking thing with a PC.

It takes some getting used to but I know a nice place to put the Wiimote

I dislike the placement of the shoulder buttons and how the analog sticks don't click, but other than that it's an okay pad. Still would rather use a Saturn controller for 2D games and a Dualshock for 3D games, though.

Oh, also the "officially endorsed by Sega" Retrobit Saturn repros come out this month if you lads want to experience the greatest controller to grace mankind.

And the switch controllers are the worst right?

I had to remove the analog sticks on my 1st gen nes30pro. They developed stick drift after about a year, probably from being carelessly stowed among other stuff. They were kinda vestigial sticks anyway so I don't really miss them. I hate how loud the shoulder buttons are.
