Back when the Jak and Daxter port to the Vita was released, i was very excited, because the jak series has always been one of my favorite games of all time, but as you all know it ended up being a low frame rate stinky controls pile of shit.

Is there any other bad port that ruins the original experience?

it has been any port that you wanted to be good but end up bad? and why not, is there any game you would like to see on another platform?

Battletoads on Amiga is embarrassing not just because of how bad it is but also by the fact it's on superior hardware. There was just no excuse.

That's a shame. It always seems like sony is onto something great, then they just shit the bed and it's embarrassing. Vita could've been a great mobile platform for ps2/ps3 ports like that.

I submit that fucking everything for eurocomps was shit ports. Most Amiga games were garbage that thrived on still photos and good music. There was really nothing that stood out as a masterpiece, and said "fuck you, Nintendo. This is how you do (X) kind of game."

I submit that the main reason eurocomps thrived was because it was so easy to pirate most of their games.

On the off chance you mainly mean the slowdown, there's a fan made patch to fix that for use with a CFW PSP or PPSSPP. Still says a lot that Square couldn't be bothered to offer an official fix themselves though.

In the case of HD compilations, using those are compiled/ported by a company uninvolved with making the original games anyhow. Jak and Daxter having been by Mass Media Games, and looking at their track record, seem to have had a lot more prior experience with the PS3 than Vita.

Some of those companies do better than others. Hexa Drive for example did solid work with Okami HD, and I recall hearing similar about their work with E.X. Troopers, and were even the ones Konami turned to to fix ZoE2 HD for the PS3, after they'd at least gotten the justification to shitcan the series after letting High Voltage botch the shit out of it.

Sanzaru went on to make Sly 4, which is actually very good, except for being a bit too easy. I was excited for them to make Sly 5, but then they got busy making Sonic Boom and its sequel.

Call of Duty 3 for Wii

Yeah, Wii launch games were mostly bad ports. The CoD games certainly improved on the Wii later on but the Wii port of 3 colored my impression of it being the worst game in the series (before 2011 or so anyway).

the guys who ported it over haven't gotten any better at programming and just license shitty middleware to do the job for them, resulting in retarded bottlenecks, weird frame pacing issues and microstutters that can't be fixed on an engine level.

From what I heard, they were handed the game without any source code and told to port it. They basically had to hack it all together to have it in a barely working state.
