After a long and painful deliberation I decided to finally roll into POE simply because there aren't any alternatives.

Every since finished diablo clone is played by me to death, and I don't want to spoil myself by playing unfinished ones.

So what are the most common mistakes one can make in POE? I want to play as dual wielding duelist, what stat should I be investing into? Str or Dex? Or both?

Should I even bother with non-standard league for the first time?

POE thread.

For your first bit, following guides is not necessary to play, only necessary to learn what works and what doesn't. You can absolutely do 90% of the content with anything that isn't completely retarded. People whine about chasing the meta, but you certainly do not have to if you aren't trying to achieve something (race to 100 or some shit).

As for your second point, the endgame is a type of item called a map which can be crafted similarly to gear and when used creates a randomly generated location with a tileset depending on the map item you used. There's a chart you have to go through where maps are connected to each other and will only drop if you're adjacent or have cleared it previously. The guy you saw killing shit quickly is doing so because doing more maps > basically anything else. This is referred to as "clear speed meta", which as the name implies means that something that kills a lot of mobs quickly is almost always better than something that simply does a lot of damage.

If you do want to play what I suggest is either finding a build guide that sounds fun or going in blind and just completing the campaign. It will probably take 10-15 hours and will let you know if you'll like the game or not. If you hate the quests that's fine because you basically won't do anymore after the campaign is over. Do note that a lot of builds pretty much only start to work at the endgame (such as righteous fire, which you can only really sustain at level 65+ due to a unique that is pretty much mandatory and needing a lot of key areas on the tree) so be careful not to pick one of those.

If you go in blind your first character will be shit, so just accept that.

This Betrayal shit is obtuse and annoying as hell.

Honestly the game's not that great, it basically dies after you finish t5/6 of maps for a majority of people because it removes the illusion of build variety right then.

Yeah what you saw on that stream was endgame, you trade for maps, and then farm for currency on said maps to try to either min/max or progress. Endgame progression is pure RNG because it's determined by drops.

The skill tree is a joke, there's so many flat useless nodes on it that any non-gimmick build overlooks 90% of it. The issue with that is you need hp (or ES but that's just blue hp). Armor due to how it works is useless on large hits, and evasion isn't reliable in the slightest. So the game forces you to build characters in what's basically a very mandated way in order to have someone capable of clearing content without already being wealthy, and the only way to get currency is by having a high level character farm.

PATH OF LIFE: MERCHANT GUILD SIMULATOR

c93120  No.15913588

I've finally managed to get good at this game and will likely beat the shit out of Uberelder before the new year.

Starting out sucks when you have no clue how gems work, what items are good, how the skill tree works or how only +life matters, or that they expect you to have capped elemental resistances.

You can progress through the main story and 10 acts with acceptable difficulty, if a little slow, even if you only played other Diablo-like games before.

However there is a brick wall at maps for beginners, since things get noticeably harder and progression slows down a lot. Without knowing what you're doing with your character and build you won't progress.

Almost any skill can be used to complete the game and destroy the game, if you know what you're doing. However, some are better than others at certain tasks. A handful are flat out bad/underpowered.

Once you have a rudimentary understanding what is going on, or are following a build guide, gotten through the main story there are a few types of players:

>Beating/Finishing all content

Pretty difficult to do when it comes to the endgame, uberelder is pretty damn hard and you either have to follow a build-guide, or be very experienced to know how to put a character and build together and what works.

There are builds and characters that do that shit for very cheap, others are incredibly expensive to gear.

>Acquire currency

Getting rich in this game feels pretty good and is a game in of itself, cheating the goyim and watching your wealth grow is alright.

>Farm X

There are magic find farmers who spam specific maps for specific drops similar to Diablo for currency or super-endgame items like headhunter. People play these to fund their projects and acquire items they want.

There also dedicated builds for farming the labyrinth, which is a 'die and you get kicked out of the instance' thing with very solid and reliable income generation.

You can also have builds made for single target and kill the absolute endgame bosses, but those suck at clearing maps quickly. Generally what you do then is have other people pay you to murder said bosses for them when they get it unlocked.

There is other shit like delve farmers, hall of grandmaster farmers and so on, but those are even more specific.

>Crafter

One of the more fun things to do. Item crafting in Path of Exile is absolutely great and better than any other game. Reasonable RNG that can be manipulated in your favor. Knowing how to make a few items can make you a shitload of cash with very little effort. If you know how to craft even one itemslot for a popular skill/build, you'll make good money.

>Breaking the game

This requires a retarded amount of experience and theorycrafting, but the gist of it is that there are builds found basically every league that absolutely break the game. Wormblaster (which survived 6 iterations of nerfs before it died recently), immortal delve gluttony builds, cast on damage taken servercrashers

I would generally recommend starting with a class and skill combo that is good currently, not look up guides until you feel like you cannot progress.

Like a Marauder/Juggernaut with Tectonic slam, Witch/Elementalist with Winter Orb or Armageddon Brand, Templar/Hierophant with Arc Totems

Don't play this game. It is run by bugmen that want your money.

The game has serious flaws that will never be fixed because they divide the fanbase and cause arguments. All of this is solved by GGG having plenty of (((influencers))) to control the game's community. Only places you can actually discuss this game are leddit and their official forums, both of which are controlled by GGG.

I played the game up until this year (so 6 years) and I am not going back.

b1bfc5  No.15913649

i don't know how to feel about this league, starting out felt like shit since the syndicate is way overtuned, and you constantly get deleted by the members specially in fortifications so you need to ignore them at the start and gear up.

currency now drops more often and exalted orbs are rising up in price, i think this is due to the new crafting system that has some really expensive crafting mods like your hits can't be evaded for 3 ex.

i haven't done shaper and elder due to how painful it is to farm xp on high tier maps with the syndicate fucking you in the ass in each one of them, atleast i got some kind of expensive items on their safehouses like a poet's pen.

I don't like what they did to statsticks and shaper items, they fucked over most of the melee build and if you don't have a retarded ammount of money playing them is suicide

I was oneshotted in t9 map without any damage mods with 70% chaos res fortify and a couple of flasks active with 7200 hp. Its unplayable on HC and I dont think I can enjoy SC. But you can do syndicate until you get research hole. If you skip it they stay in their hole so you dont have to deal with anymore syndicate missions, but than what the point of playing in league without interaction with its content?

They slightly nerfed some of their stuff, but if you can be killed with 7k hp and all the defences up, than I dont fucking know how to counter it. I dont even know what killed me exactly. Aisling was alive, I was dead next moment and than she was dead after that. It was not even janus bullshit explosions where he explodes half of screen with physical damage. And It was literal oneshot since I had slayer infinite leech. Game was not lagging either. And it was not a CE because I destroy corpses on hit.

Target crafting is possible and easy with fossils and mastercrafting and the rest of stuff. This is the great time to play on SSF. Crafted this just to test out fossil crafting, its basically cost nothing. But crafting requires a lot of knowledge. Also crafting is really fucking profitable if you know what you doing.

The thing I hate the most about PoE is how fast the gameplay is. D2 and early PoE were a lot slower which led to gameplay being more about decision and reaction time. Current PoE is more about mashing buttons as fast as possible and hoping you don't get 1 shot by a reflect mob or something off-screen. The screen gets so filled and cluttered with spell effects that trying to discern what the fuck is going on is futile.

If you like collecting loot and trading, PoE is excellent for that. But if you like gameplay and making builds, stay the fuck away from it.

>Current PoE is more about mashing buttons as fast as possible and hoping you don't get 1 shot by a reflect mob or something off-screen

Reflect was removed and if you get off-screened then usually it's because you didn't invest in more than one layer of defences. And there are plenty of builds that don't require more than one button, unless of course you rely on flasks as a crutch with something like Pathfinder.

>But if you like gameplay and making builds, stay the fuck away from it

It's neat for experimentation though, even now there are plenty of unexplored build options.

a29a91  No.15914805

PoE is one of the best games if not the best for making builds, it just happens that gameplay is so dumb that you cannot expect supper awesome synergy between skills (Which ends up hurting build variety). Most builds just use one skill, and 99.99% use at most two without taking buffs into account.

Grim dawn is the complete opposite, you have good synergy between skills and gameplay is slower so you use more of them, but loot is generic titan quest trash. Builds are more about how you mix classes and which skills you pick up more than anything else.

I prefer PoE over GD to be honest. Path of Exile is very polished now that they got rid of old master mechanics.

You're not going to like this answer but it's correct. Follow a build. A meta build that's cheap. Search queries should be something like "path of exile 3.5 league starter". Pick one that interests you.

It's important to get an idea of how progression goes, what currency does, what's valuable, what's not, how to be efficient, and frankly you're not going to get all the first hand information you need playing a dumpy homegrown build that can't even get very far into maps.

This is 100% the best thing you can do as a newb. These threads will never properly convey the full amount of information you need to get into Path of Exile. Following a build won't suck the fun out for you like you're imagining, because while leveling you're probably going to be using whatever you can get your hands on, maybe doing a little small time trading and crafting, interacting with the current (and past) league mechanics, and all that shit is still exciting.

Then, once you've experienced all that shit, have yourself a little bit of currency (I'd recommend at least 2-3 exalts worth of chaos orbs. Save your orbs of fusing, chromas, jeweller orbs honestly), then maybe try planning your own build. Even then I'd still look at other builds to see what interesting combinations of gear and gems they have that may benefit what you want.

Also, always play the leagues unless it's a gimmick you really don't like. The markets are fucked in standard leagues, less so on HC.

t. also a recent PoE newb

This is just what worked for me. Maybe you wanna jump into hardcore and rip characters on your own builds until you get it but I'm not into that. Not with only so much time for vidya.

>>15913671

>>15915270

Syndicate was ridiculous (it was really cool not ever getting to finish transport while leveling because Haku had an item that devoured corpses but now it's very much doable. The issue is they do a lot of chaos and phys damage which is hard to mitigate for a lot of builds. I didn't bother with Fortification past T3 maps until I got CI. Currently it's kind of rocky for me to mess with Forts on T11 with 7k ES+CI.

>The markets are fucked in standard leagues, less so on HC.

HC is better but by a small margin. And a lot of prices are set up by retards. "someone selling rise of pheonix for 10exalt, I better set the same price" while original 10ex RoP was a legacy version, now everyone set the same price for their nerfed versions. And its like 100 people playing there. There is no reason not to play on ladder. If you dont like gimmick just dont play at all. Instead of default leagues with fucked up trading you better off on soloselffound league.

>Reflect still in game in other forms.

Old reflect through optional map mods and new reflect as projectile skills that all have a cooldown (except the bull in Racecourse). There's also items that reduce reflect damage, Pantheon powers that also reduce it and Ascendancy nodes that give you outright immunity.

>Do you actually not using flasks? They can easily double or triple DPS and survivability.

They do but if you build around it being a crutch then that is what it is going to be. They nicely supplement your build but people don't like to do anything that requires any thought. Unless you are playing a build with 4k life in T15, you don't actually need to spam flasks constantly, but everyone simply decides to spam flasks every 3 seconds when everything is going fine and every 2 seconds when in panic mode. And then they complain that their fingers hurt while playing Flaskfinder with 330% flask duration using Faminebind and self-curse because GGG doesn't allow using macros that type 12345.

And you dont need to think, the only places where you need to burn the boss is a couple of endgame encounters. Outside of that you just use utility from flasks in most cases. Evasion is useless, HP is the most important but you have to have something else as multiplier. Fortify goes without saying, Buttles are mostly useless, but you need one with instant heal and rest with utility. Bleed+curse+freeze removal combo is the usual.

>regen vs leech

That depends. How much damage you do with hits, how much hp you have, how much regen you can get "for free". Without any passives you can only leech 20% of your max XP per second and usually life leech applies only to physical attack damage. There are also life leech rate but usually its irrelevant. Its not about what is better, its about what is better for you.

Usually classes have some sort of their own damage mitigation/sustain. Juggernaut has 90% physical damage reduction VS hardest hits in game, guardian also but he is also super tanky with aura effectiveness, hierophant has MoM. Chieftan has life leech from totems (and he deals damage with totems so he takess less damage while he runs around), occultist has(had?) free ES and ES regen, etc.

>>15916068

Evasion is not chance based its entropy based. Basically you get hit sooner or later and its unreliable. Imagine playing russian roulette. That is how evasion works. You need to be prepared to survive few shots to the head if you want evasion build.

I don't quite get this argument. Can't you just verify if your build works or not by playing? I dunno how long it is for me to even reach end game, but by this point shit should be established right?

Or balance changes every time with these league updates?

f640dd  No.15916173

Also no-gold economy sounds interesting on paper, but how people trade end-game gear?

What is the metric of shit's worth?

Is there some universal trading item that you can use as one?

Like this sword costs XX shits and this armor costs XXX shits.

69c389  No.15916175

>>15916166

Mitigation balance generally never changes, and no you need HP, fortify is nice, but you need HP more than anything else.

Universal trading item is a chaos orb, and most people trade through poe.trade. You need a premium stash tab to have a decent chance to sell items, but buying them is super easy using it.

>>15916175

What about that particular node? Do I take it?

f85aa9  No.15916195

>>15916166

You're not required to do that by any means, but it's a good way to not die. As long as you have high effective hp (5k or so), capped resists, some form of mitigation and don't stand in obvious death circles you should be fine.

>>15916173

Smaller to average things are valued in chaos orbs, while more valuble shit is valued in exalted. A decent yellow item with life and resists might be about 5 chaos, a somewhat rare unique might be 40-50 chaos, a very sought after unique or damn near perfect jewel might be 2-3 exalted (1ex is about 120c right now), and the stupidly expensive super high end stuff like headhunter is 50-60ex. A decent starting build might cost 10c max, and that's if you go out of your way for better stuff.

>>15916181

It depends entirely on what you're going for. If you were to run unwavering stance (can't be stunned but can't evade) your evasion rating has 0 effect but it's still there, at which point iron reflexes converts it into armor. Generally though since keystones come with a drawback, you shouldn't just grab them at random.

No not really, it's running maps and as most builds usually have "attack skill" and then "mitigation (CODT Immortal Call usually)/movement skills". The endgame is generally just clearing screens of mooks at once with no real danger until you get one shotted by something. You repeat this until either through RNG or trading you advance through the delve/syndicate/atlas all of which play basically the exact same with "cast ability move to next pack, etc"

Not sure if true. Guardians are profitable, but not sure if shaper worth it. Doing red elder seems totally fucking worth it thou. Guardian maps pay for itself all the time, but shaper might drop fucking gloves. Granted they cost like 30x more than before, but its still a fucking 30c. You cant really do shaper without being reall fucking rich otherwise you will burn all your currency on fragments. it used to be 5% chance for sword+5% for flask but I heard they buffed it. So its probably between 15% and 20% for good loot. So you will need to make at least 5 runs to have a chance at profit. But red elder is fucking good, just use icewall+spell cascade to save shaper in event to get jewel and other good shit.

I did calculated profits from doing some random shit and in incursion league temple was the best way to make currency while playing solo. The rest was exactly the same profit/time invested/currency invested rate. Between running maps, doing uberlab, doing atziri, guardians. The only difference is that while doing maps you always get currency no matter what, but you need invest more into rolling map, using fragments, prophesy and sextans, than on shaper/atziri runs and you need to know what you doing with maps.

>Not sure if true

3/5 items shaper drops are worth a bit more than 1 ex. It costs about 57c total for one of each guardian map, or 40c for one of each fragment. As long as you're not getting really unlucky and you can actually sell off the starforges and dying suns you get, you should be more than able to sustain this. And this isn't even taking into account the possibility of getting a scourge from chimera and other misc drops.

>>15916363

PS. To profit from shaper from the start you need to start selling completions but making a group is a bit slower but you make currency just by doing him. But you need fucking social interactions.

>>15916378

The point is not that doing shaper is not profitable, the point that its expensive to do compared to everything else.

You will need few runs to make a profit from him. 40c is slightly more expensive than red/guardian map (on average) and but it might give nothing in return. And these days you have scarabs which can probably boost profits from mapping a lot, but than again it does mean that maps will be somewhat cheaper, but pure currency is easy to generate this league(aka inflation) so who the fuck knows, I am not going to calculate profit rates for this. But in the end doing shaper is bigger investiment than doing everything else. I say that doing guardians is the safest way to grind if you can do them. If you are poor as fuck and cant do guardians than doing uberlab on juggernaut is a good alternative and I personally think its quite fun thing to do. If you are fast(or if you doing lab for someone else) than just rush to izaro without most of side objectives, if you are slow or if you enjoy doing side objectives than just do them. The only downside to this is bad lab days. Just do the math, what is better for you, doing one lab with 6 keys in 10 minutes or doing 2labs with 3 keys in 4 minutes (as an example). I never sold any good enchants so you can ignore them for profit calculations.

>red elder

Its much cheaper but its slower. I said profit/currency invested/time. Red elder cost more time to do. You might also spend time trading for maps, even if they are cheap.

>I played closed beta too and don't really think the game significantly improved much over the years.

Come on anon. I agree with you that the game has HUGE flaws but the game is on another level in comparison to closed beta. Just the fact they fixed desync is enough to make a difference, but graphically and content wise it also improved a ton, a FUCK lot of quality of life was also added through the game. There is a lot more to loot than what it was in CB, you can get some crazy items now and with the addition of ascendancies (aka, actual classes) the game has a little bit more build variety.

But like I said, the game still has some huge core flaws that are deal breakers to me currently, and the reason I don't want to play anymore:

First and foremost gameplay never got interesting, the game is boring as fuck to play even for a hack and slash and powercreep made it worse (Most skills feel the same, monsters die instantly).

Related to the previous point, the game branched off way too far from the customizing skills gimmick. They added way to many supports that are essentially more damage multipliers which combined with their addiction to bloat the game with new shitty skills makes it so the best course of action is to pick the best skill that is playable unsupported and add five more damage supports to it. Looking at poe.ninja, the top 10 skills make up 70% of the playerbase between level 94 and 100.

Gating progression behind RNG, which combined with the repetitive gameplay make an interesting mix of fuck that shit.

The economy of the game is trash. Out of 100 uniques you drop maybe one may be valuable more than 5c, that is insane. The best way to make currency is to NOT PLAY THE FUCKING GAME and flip items, buy good rares with open affixes from people then craft and resell, or just flip currency. That's when you know there are problems.

<TL;DR: The game is definitely much better, but still has huge flaws.

>Dual weilding is shit

When you played last time? Leveling as melee is easy as fuck and DW is free 21% more damage. Vendor 60% increased damage weapons are good enough to carry you trough most of premaps and than you can get good 1c weapon. Wings are fucking great for leveling. While its true that spells are scale directly with your level, weapons usually gave better scaling these days since most of melee skills can cover whole screen with aoe. DW is good premaps, but later you have to decide what you want, DW requires 2 weapons and usually top end 1hander is fucking expensive, while 2hander with best dps is only a fucking 17% better than 10c weapons(without cost of 6l ofc).

Tabula cost 12c and leveling weapon cost 1fus. Leveling as DW is perfectly fine, but endgame weapons cost too much. Casters/2h are indeed much cheaper.

The real worst mistake is not knowing that CI/es builds require stun and freeze immunity. You get stunned all the time without immunity. And while average ES gear is craftable by yourself, its still harder to do than HP gear.

At higher levels 1% regen and 2% physical resistance is quite hard to get. 20% inc damage is also good for 2 points. You can get something even better with jewels and jewel socket cost is 2 points. So I think alira will be better and later you can switch to 2 points when you can afford cool jewels and you might even keep alira, since its pleasant and you can switch to oak if you gat a lof of physical resistance elsewhere. 2% is shit by itself, but each % is better than the previous one.

Res is found on every piece of gear and its common. But you need 205 in every res for the cap. -60% from difficulty and -40% from curses in maps. To make 15%allres+5manaregen obsolete you need a better than that jewel (assuming you dont need 20% critM). Its the same with stats, its easy to get 30dex elsewhere but sometimes you just have to pick up that node over 4% hp node because you just dont have anywhere else to get more dex. Its easy to get 205 allres but 205 is harder to get than 190. Usually I use oak since 1% regen and 2% phys res cant be found elsewhere, but I usually respec from +15% allres near marader after lvl 90, usually near lvl 95. 15% allres is just too fucking convenient to skip. At that time I have like 6-7 jewels in the tree. As I said, jewels can be better but only a great jewels. +10% allres is not that rare on jewels and you can get some HP with that, but its 30+c and at the start of the league you probably better off with just leveling 2 more levels than spending 30c. Losing map portals and experience is fairly significant when past white maps. Don't buy into the hardcore meme, at least not yet. When you reach a new act, just measure the amount of time it takes you to get to the next act (stopwatch or just pay attention to the clock constantly) and multiply that by ten: that is the amount of time you are taking just to level. The average player does one act per hour.

Problem with this particular game is that there is no ealry indication if your build is shit or not.

In other ARPGs like say Diablo 2 or Sacred usually as soon as Act 2 starts you can more or less tell if your build is shit or not, because enemies will start murdering your ass if you're doing something wrong.

In PoE you can finish the entity story with broken build and then get your ass oneshot because game switches gears instantly.

It's not an issue if you're wikichild and just copy paste existing build, but if you like to learn shit yourself this is bad game design.

I feel like that would be the biggest time cost if anything. Knowing what side quests you can skip and having a good idea where the doors to the next area are go a long way towards saving time. I find my self spending a lot of time just backtracking while trying to figure out where to go next.

All skippable sidequests have (Optional) written next to them.

>get a lootfilter, doesn't matter which one but you can always start out with Neversink set to semi-strict

>don't pick up every single item on the planet that drops, the lootfilter isn't just there to make your drops have pretty effects

>never pick up blue items unless the base or the links are good enough to justify it

>largely focus on currency rather tham items, even if you are playing solo self-found you are still going to be doing this

This is the largest timesink you could ever fall into, which almost everyone does when they start out until they either quit or stop doing it. More than everything else combined, this single-handedly is the thing that makes inefficiencies a larger time cost than lack of knowledge. For everything else, just look shit up on Youtube, I highly recommend watching the entire guide series by Engineering Eternity since the game has so many mechanics that it is impossible for me to explain everything you need to know without writing a 500 page manual. The guides are old, as shown by the fact that EE still talks about difficulties, but the vast majority of it still applies.

You can farm any lab for loot but usually you want to farm lab between merciless and uber lab, not normal lab. Normal gives glove enchants. Cruel gives glove and boot enchants. Merciless gives glove, boot and helmet enchants. Gloves are a neat little bonus, boot enchants are usually worthwhile and helmets are incredibly powerful but don't bother with it.

>that passive tree

Remove the mana leech nodes, the life/mana leech node is more than enough to sustain mana. I would also argue against Iron Reflexes, since the +1000 armour and evasion node does not become +2000 armour from IR. Either way, for a beginner that is actually a surprisingly good tree to the point where I am starting to think you are following a build guide. There is a aura called grace that grants you a huge amount of evasion rating when you use it, about 3000 or so when it is fully leveled. When you take iron reflexes that becomes armor and is affected by all the %increased armor from your tree which ends up to be more than 10000 by itself sometimes. That being said, there are other methods of mitigating physical damage that are just as good. Don't believe the "estimated physical damage reduction" stat in the menu, it lies. You should take a basalt flask which gives 15%, fortify which gives 20%, and if you choose to go endurance charges, that is another 12% assuming you get the default three; for a total of 47% physical mitigation without any armor. 6k life is pretty much standard and what you should be aiming for if you don't want to die a bunch. Some people run much lower life than that but you have to know what you are doing.

That is incorrect. Fortify and physical reduction interact multiplicatively, not additively (ie. strong with no mitigation, weak with lots of mitigation). And if you combine flat phys reduction with armour phys reduction. Those stack additively with the armour calculations coming before the flat phys reduction applies so armour is still shit for big hits but it becomes absolutely god-tier when combined with flat phys for small hits.

This part however is more of a first impression that is intentionally put there to distract from the foreshadowing. They start dropping the moment you leave Twilight Strand. They aren't super common but you're going to get them slowly by simply playing the game. Respecing sommething like three or four points is incredibly cheap, just do some of the optional quests since the ones that don't give skill points tend to give respec points.

>I noticed that the bigger the mana pool the faster it recovers, especially since active skills don't spend more mana while leveling.

Base mana regen rate is based on your maximum mana and mana leech rate caps at 25% of your maximum mana per second. The amount you leech is dependent on both the damage you deal and how many hits you deal.

Bleed builds are a thing and they are good at high levels. I would not recommend doing one on your first playthrough.

Both. Just look at what big node you want to go to next and then see what else you can grab along the way. In general, you only want life, damage and speed. Things like resistances and defences, although still good, should not be your priority.

There are difference between "you cant do it" and "build cant do it". Also bleed sucks ass and no one should play it as their 1st build. Also some bosses are just immune to some random things because fuck you.

Usually there are difference betwee endgame and endgame bosses. By endgame usually mean red maps and by bosses mean uber elder, shaper and uber atiziri. Fighting them reuires different set of flasks, skills and other shit like maxed auras for extra resist. While bosskiller can do everything they still need to change setup. And most endgame builds are not very well suited to fight these bosses, while they still can do it.

e26745  No.15924612

>>15924548

That is based on how far you consider end-game to start. Some define it as the end of Act 10, others define it as yellow maps and others only consider bosses like Pale Council and Uber Atziri as end-game. It's viable but, considering the lack of game knowledge, you will probably struggle in situations which experienced players would consider incredibly easy and obvious. So I have to leave a bit of room for lack of experience. Bleed is incredibly good for mobs, which is why I chose to say to do it anyway in the end, but it isn't that good for higher tier bosses, which is why I was hesitant. But in the end, you can still do the end-game content (in this case meaning Uber Atziri and Pale Council) perfectly fine with bleed but it will be difficult because you need to stay alive longer on top of the issues from inexperience.

>>15924589

>Also bleed sucks ass and no one should play it as their 1st build

Bleed doesn't suck ass, it is actually really good, especially if you go Haemophilia bleedsplosion Gladiator. It simply struggles with bossing.

Oh and btw I did choose Champion subclass in the labyrinth but didn't allocate any points so I could change it for free later if I have too.

Judging from this >>15924612 you need Gladiator to play with bleed rather than Champ for example, so I don't know what ascendancy to settle on yet.

Also is blind any good?

Can it be used as replacement/supplement for evasion?

Does it affect enemy spells?

e26745  No.15924697

>>15924655

Champion is still good, it simply isn't made for clearing with bleeds, but it does have nodes that will help a lot for bleed single-target. You can do the following instead: taunt nodes for normal and cruel, then the adrenaline node for merciless. But, if you haven't allocated ascendancy points yet, then just do normal lab again and just take Gladiator instead this time. For Gladiator just go with the bleed nodes and then whatever else you may want for merciless and uber. As nice as the single-target with bleed is with Champion, bleed is still for killing trash and not killing bosses so trying to make it a single-target skill will simply make it below average for both instead of making it really good for one thing.

>>15924687

Blind is incredibly good, it instantly reduces enemy hit chance with attacks by 50%. BUT you need to remove Iron Reflexes then, since otherwise that only gives you an extra 2.5% chance to evade attacks.

>Can it be used as replacement/supplement for evasion?

Not an outright replacement but even if you have no evasion nodes, it still provides you with a bonus. Goes without saying but evasion helps make it really good.

>Does it affect enemy spells?

No, spells always hit meaning that evasion doesn't reduce their crit chance.

e26745  No.15924736

>>15924697

Forgot to mention one thing, if you aren't going Champion then you need to invest into accuracy. Not necessarily on the tree (although it does help) but on your gear at least. Alternatively get Resolute Technique (keystone on left side of the passive tree) and never have to worry about accuracy ever again.

>>15924710

Champion is very good for crits. Enemies not being able to evade means that the crit chance indicated by your character screen is actually what your crit chance is. Also don't take Fortify as a melee character, there are better ways to have that 20% less damage taken.

>Also how does melee character resists spells? Just by capping elemental resistances? Is there some other mechanic on top of that?

Block, spell dodge and simply facetanking. Gladiator is built for block but if you take those bleed nodes then you won't have enough ascendancy passives to cap block and spell block. Don't go block Gladiator as your first character. Spell dodge usually isn't worth it unless you are on the far right side of the passive tree where you can get Phase Acrobatics. And if you facetank you DEFINITELY need capped resists: since the game is balanced around 75-75-75-0 having only 50% elemental resist means you are taking 200% the amount of elemental damage you would when capped.

>Are there good support gems for crits?

I usually don't go crit but there's two crit gems. One for crit multiplier (ie. damage) and one for crit chance. I'm sure another Anon will be able to help you there

And on crits, get a Diamond Flask as soon as possible if you do crit. It is by far the strongest thing for crit builds. The wording says chance is lucky, which simply means that it rolls twice and picks the one best roll. Since it is crit CHANCE being lucky and not crit damage, best roll simply means rolling twice and if one of them crits then you crit. If you remember math class from school, the way to calculate your effective chance during a Diamond Flask is to simply calculate the chance to not crit and subtract that from 100%.

(1 - (chance to not crit)^2) = effective crit chance

The taunt node gives 100% chance to hit because it says "cannot evade attacks" and not "ignores evasion rating". Unless, of course, you mean running War Banner with a shitload of aura effectiveness. That is one of the benefits of Champion taunt and Resolute Technique: even if you have unlimited accuracy you still have a 5% more multiplier.

Mortal Conviction behind the Blood Magic keystone gives you 50% less mana reserved, that means you can move all the auras on your mana onto your life. But unless you were using prism guardian (And even then, since 3 auras are probably not enough to cover your life), you can also have more auras since the blood magic gem doubles the cost of the auras.

It is still not worth it. Even in the absolute best case it is still not worth it over simply reserving more mana. That less modifier is worthless because you are losing 50% of your reservation pool in exchange for a 50% less reservation modifier and a small amount of life. If it were reduction or 51% less, you might have a case supporting using the Blood Magic keystone for auras but at 50% less it is unjustifiable. Literally the only thing that it could work for is Hierophant's ascendancy node that would give you 100% reduced mana cost.

>you can also have more auras since the blood magic gem doubles the cost of the auras.

You CAN'T have more auras with the keystone, that is the whole point. With the gem, yes you can have more auras, but with the keystone you can't.

Since you seem to be having difficulties understand it, I'll structure it differently

>pic related

>increased/reduced takes every single modifier and sums them together

>that sum is then added to 1 and multiplied by the base damage

>this means that 50% reduced + 50% reduced with no increases present results in the end-result being 0 damage

<more/less sums each modifier individually with 1 and then they are multiplied together with each other and with the base damage

<this means that two 50% less modifiers with no more modifiers will not result in you dealing 0 damage but rather will cause you to deal 25% damage

And note the total equation, both of those are multiplied meaning that even if you have a million 99% less modifiers, you will still have a non-zero value as long as you do not go past 100% reduced. Because everything else is reduced and the notable says less, there is no benefit for auras. You may argue that the increased life may help to facetank, but that only applies if you don't stack a shitload of auras on top, life reserved is life you can't use to facetank hits. So the only use for auras would be the modified cost, but since auras other than Clarity stopped reserving a flat amount a long-ass time ago the modified cost is equal to the cost you started with.

Without Blood Magic keystone

>using two auras that have a base reservation of 20%

>with 10% reduced reservation

>as a result 36% of your mana is reserved

With Blood Magic keystone and notable

>using two auras that have a base duration of 20%

>with 10% reduced reservation and that 50% less reservation

>you can't use your mana, since it is at 0/0 so you reserve life

>as a result 18% of your life is reserved

Now to a monkey this may seem like you just profited from this. But remember, you can't use your mana so you can't reserve anything with it. The first one didn't reserve any life, he still has 100% of his life and 64% of his mana. This means 163% (1% to prevent reserving yourself to death) of unreserved resources. The second one has 82% of his life and 0% of his mana, you ALSO have 163% of unreserved resources. So not only are you getting the exact same number of auras, you are also fucking yourself over by taking away 18% of your life pool. The ONLY benefit to doing this is that you are making yourself harder to stun but if stuns were really the issue, why not just fucking get an item or ascendancy that makes you immune?

>>15926043

>It depends on setup. Blood magic is good with staforge pure physical damage builds.
