The premise is interesting, until you get to the payoff and realize that the catastrophic world ending event was caused by a capitalist white male who kept butting in and taking charge just to fuck things up even further (aka Dad). Then all the people they brought together for the super-secret project were a bunch of tumblerites and special snowflake diversity hires who predictably screw the pooch because they can't focus for more than 5 minutes on anything that doesn't explicitly revolve around them and their feelings. The guy who creates the Ares system (the main antagonist) is the only one who gets shit right, and you're basically trying to stop it from performing it's intended function. He's also a pretty religious guy, so of course he's painted as an ancillary badguy - or at least a bit of a jerk. All the fuckups inevitably lead to Lady Jesus going outside the vault alone to fix the door and restore the seal so the nanomachines can't get in and kill the team before they finish the project - which also happens to be 100% her own project because she's also a genius and everybody loves her. Also, by the way, you're a clone of Lady Jesus which is why Aloy is so great and even tempered and talented and a natural leader that everybody loves - including the king of the largest kingdom around who falls in love with her almost instantly and entrusts the safety of his entire kingdom and all his people to her judgement even though he barely knows her - and all this despite the fact that she's been an outcast living in the wilds with only one other person literally her ENTIRE life up to the point of the game.

It really is just some feminist self-insert propaganda porn which unfortunately hijacked a, at a conceptual level anyhow, a rather decent plot and lore and ended up completely ruining it.
