Yes, there is no benefit to being a rogue over a Ninja. Also, it's not just being level 50, but you need to complete the 2.55 A Realm Reborn storyline and enter Ishgard to unlock Machinist, Astrologian, or Dark Knight. At simply level 50 though, you can unlock Samurai and Red Mage

If you want to go fast, become a Monk or Samurai. Monk's Greased Lightning is a skill speed buff that you build up and maintain while fighting, and Samurai has something similar and scales well with Skill Speed in general. Both also have a decent number of oGCDs, with Samurai's also being on very short cooldowns.

You can't switch to Samurai until level 50 and I think it requires owning Stormblood, though.

After dealing with an infuriating tank, I finally hit 30 and got white mage. The guy kept running ahead when I was trying to heal him. It's like he was trying to die. He wouldn't stop long enough for me to heal, he kept cutting corners and breaking my line of sight, and he wouldn't stop until he had just an absurd amount of enemies on him. Nobody died, but he came really close more than once. Does that make me a shit healer or was he really just a bad tank? I don't really know how I could have handled the situation better.

You can change jobs/classes at any time; you have to start leveling from 1 but you get an exp bonus that lasts until you reach whatever level your highest class is at. You keep all exp in your old class/job and can change back at any time by changing what weapon you have equipped. The game does a decent job at explaining this mechanic and will even notify you when you are able to change classes, which you cannot do until you finish your level 10 class quest, impossible to miss since you visit your class guild as part of the introductory tutorial quests.

To be extra clear all your gear is stored in your Armory Chest which frees up space from your actual inventory. There is also a button to save what gear you have equipped as a loadout that can be used to automatically re-equip everything from the Armory Chest. You can change from your lvl 11 Monk to your lvl 70 Summoner with a single click anywhere outside of dungeons and combat.

Read all your skills and work out how they synergise, test on a dummy if need be. At level 35 this shouldn't be too hard to work out.

In the upper right hand corner there will always be a reminder of what your current main quest is.

So basically just get reacquainted with your character and pick up the main quest from where you left off.

If you want to change classes just go talk to the receptionist at any respective guild to get started then you can change anytime (outside of dungeons and combat) by equipping a class' respective main hand.

Guilds in this game are called free companies. They can give some passive buffs to help making leveling easier if you're new. Other than that, free companies have a guild storage system, access to a shared house for members and guests, and airship/submarine voyages to get a few rare items.

What FC you're in isn't that big of a deal. You can purchase housing for personal use, and linkshells offer another way to communicate.

I felt the same way. I think it's why you see quite a lot of RDMs. At 50 the rotation is just as simple as the others, but with a lot of redundant buttons you feel like you have more to do.

And yes, it is very fun to rush in, combo a sucker, dodge out, and nuke them. It's also nice to be able to heal and raise in desperate situations. Just last night I ran a dungeon where the healer was lagging and I was able to help when things went to shit.

Once again, I'm lazy, except these two have the same CD. My usual approach is to get my mana to at least 40 each, use corp a corp and displacement if they're off CD, use Manafication, CaC into melee range, then use Embolden to buff everyone before combo'ing. I'll also wait a bit to use Fleche and Contre Sixte if I have Embolden off CD so I can give them more juice.

The problem I mentioned before with these macros is that the game will sometimes mix them up. For example I will start casting Verthunder rather than Verfire. It doesn't persist and is easily fixed by stepping forward to cancel the cast, but it does result in a DPS loss. The bigger problem is when something like Embolden and Manafication swap places. Since Embolden should be cast when next to melee players it can really mess up the group's DPS for it to accidentally be used when at casting range.

One last note, unrelated to the rest of this, is that if you're running low on MP you can use Lucid Dreaming. The tooltip just says it gives you Refresh, but that is MP restoration. Very useful for very prolonged fights or if you've had to hand out a bunch of cures and raises or if you died like a bitch and need to get your MP back fast.

The ARR story revolves around you being the realm's bitch and doing bitchwork. Which makes sense up to a point, but when you get involved in important shit and are regarded as an important person the constant errand boy bullshit gets grating. Even worse is the final two dungeons of 2.0. Most of the antagonist's characterization is in there and it's all in unskippable cutscenes that go on for far too long. The whole thing has to be treated as its own roulette with greater rewards just to get people to run it.

The post-content patches helps the story pick up, but it has its own major flaws.

Heavensward has you looking into the ancient war between Ishgard and the dragons. It's done better since you actually get the feeling you're on a quest almost. It also seeks to wrap up the mess that starts at the end of the ARR content and that portion is part of the worst.

The Heavensward post-content patches rounds out the story of the expansion while also including events that I think will set up the new expansion coming out.

Stormblood has you helping Ala Mhigo niggers take their land back from the Garleans while also helping the Doman Chinks/ Japs do the same. The story is whatever, but the villains were pretty good.

lvl.40 on BLU and i've gotten all the monster magic from outside the dungeons, raids and extreme trials. Very fun class and neat to cheese stuff.

For example

>learn 1000hp from a sabotender

>lean sticky tongue death grip from laughing toad

>learn acorn bomb aoe sleep from treant sapling

>be level 10

>sleep pack of lvl.32 mobs in costa del sol

>pull one with sticky tongue

>kill with thousand needles

>repeat to take out entire pack

>get to level 32 from 10 in about 10 minutes tops.

Obviously its not going to work past that but boy theres so many fun moments to combo Monster Magic to cheese shit. Tried Tam Tara for a boss monster magic unlock and i went tank with mightyguard and bad breath and so on while another used white wind and stuff to heal while the others used 1000 needles and stuns to dps. It was a breath of fresh air to do older dungeons in a new fuckaround way.

Overall a real fun job, lag of duty finder is having people talk and group up and stuff while the ARR zones are full of players doing fates and killing mobs to find spells. It feels like ARR again and maybe it lasts a few weeks tops but this job really injected some life in the userbase outside of endgame again and thats something WoW could really, really use.

There is the Carnival, but it helps to already have some spells before doing it I think. Besides, I think most people want to get their skills the og way for the novelty.

Whats the deal with the bombs? I mean i know its retards killing them before they use the move but why is it so crowded?

I've got friends at lvl12ish who have been stuck there all day, i chose to skip it and got to 40 and every other open world skill and some boss ones because i wasn't stuck there. Whats the big deal of the spell? one shots bosses or something?

I love that they wasted dev time on a complete flash in the pan gimmick. I mean it's alright, but there's absolutely no future proofing in it and with how boosted the exp is you don't even need to try to get to 50 where you're already done with the class.

I give it like 2-3 weeks tops and then it gets completely forgotten about come ShB. Bonus points if they scramble to keep interest during the end of ShB's content cycle and increase the level cap of blu by 10!

I only got my BLU to level 13 or so but so far i'm having the same good times. i really like and am genuinely impressed that the devs seem to have said "fuck it" and released a dumb, weird class that is simply there to have a good time with. i can't see it being "viable" as it were the way other, dedicated classes are but the fact that you really make the class your own and customize it to your needs or wants is pretty neat and i'm glad it's in there

I'm soloing Copperbell mines at level 21 right now. I don't know if I can kill a boss, but cheesing everything with sleep, stuns, and thousand needles is fun thanks to Mighty Guard and White Wind.

I was able to kill the Minotaur mini boss. The Flamebeaus that spawn in that encounter use Self Destruct so I was finally able to learn that without the headache of dealing with the hordes outside.
