Mobile gaming is shit and I'll tell you why.

1. Almost everything is p2w

2. If it's not p2w it has pop up ads

3. If it has neither it costs money

4. It none of the above it will be inexorably gimped by the touch screen controls

5. It will suck your phones battery life like the thirstiest whore in the brothel

you have to be a fucking loser to play games on your phone and not socializing whoever is in front of you

That depends more on the type of game. But, it does get annoying that every other title uses a virtual controller as if stating that they have no fucking clue how to develop a game for a system where it's only input is a giant screen.

That's true of just about every portable produced in the past 7 years, unless you put it on airplane mode.

I remember hearing nintendo had a patent recently for a Game boy casing with buttons for phones that goes overtop the phone and turns it into a game boy. That would be ideal.

The Xbox One Gen 2 controllers can connect to any phone via Bluetooth.

I stress Gen 2 which are the ones with a built in 3 1/4 headphone jack because the Gen 1 ones don't work.

I was playing GTA: San Andreas with it while I was in downtime on my 12 hour shifts and all the buttons were all correctly mapped by default.

You should just emulate slow or turn based games.

I only play Super Tux Kart with my phone. Honestly there's barely anything else worth a damn for mobile, everything is either filled with ads or microtransactions.

I decided to play that heavily advertised game Honkai Impact 3rd and I was utterly blown away by how good it actually was, unironically. It had everything it promised, never pushed the microtransactions more than something like f/go did, had great graphics & gameplay, kind of meh plot but a + for good character designs mostly, and generally fair as a f2p. Also had a ton of neat social features and even co-op mode. Surprised it doesn't have a big following.

What's a good mobile rhythm game? Preferably without microtransactions, I don't mind paying up to 1 dollar.

None of those are worth playing on smartphones, even their games like rhythms are unplayable, with shit like love-live or whatever having shit like requiring you to wait days to recharge your currency or buy it to go through a song or w/e

Accurate, it would require a fundamental changing or shaking up of the mobile market and that won't ever happen because actual quality is never rewarded on the mobile market, just presentation, prettiness and how much they can milk you without you feeling like you're being completely milked

It is actually amazing that there are these shitty RPG series that actually are simple single-player games that are actually enjoyable.

Try Zenonia. I remember that they changed real money prices to in-game gold for resurrection items in first ones and I was fine to beat entire game with 5 they gave you at the start when I played 4. Too bad it is a mess in terms of which games you can play, but at the same time .apk is a thing.

Ports are actually awful because you need to make controls specifically for touchscreens. They are good for dragging and menus when buttons are bit larger but usually they don't even bother to make menus in their turn based games bit larger.

There is also Runescape but I doubt you will enjoy it or want to get into a game made by Jagex.

If you absolutely need something to pass your time with only a phone just read a book. There's literally nothing for mobile that isn't complete dogshit. You could emulate but touch controls suck so even if it's something slow paced like a strategy game it's still annoying.

Ports and emulators. Every game designed for phones is trash, because they're designed to be controlled with a touchscreen (even games that let you connect a controller don't fix this, because it's still designed around the touchscreen player) and because the monetization models are cancer.
