Haven't played Broken Crescent in a while, but I remember doing a run as the Afghan faction and destroying the pajeets. They were surprisingly fucking tough bastards when they were defending settlements. The Kingdom of Jerusalem somehow got destroyed by niggers, but I think it was because they were at war on four different fronts.

I hate Total war for having oddly shaped provinces.

Is Atilla worth picking up? I'm really wary of advancing to anything past Shogun 2

I had a lot of fun with Atilla, but it has a lot of problems as well. It runs like fucking garbage for one, even on good computers. It's probably the most complex total war title out there, getting you to manage food and sanitation. Climate change will wreck your economy about halfway through the game, right around when you can expect the Huns to become a serious problem. Units are much more committed to combat, even units attacking the back of an enemy who's in combat can expect to take massive losses when pulling out. I imagine this was implemented due to how overwhelmingly powerful cavalry gets in this game. My genuine advice is to pirate it first to see if you like it. I have a few hundred hours in it, but it definitely feels different and can be polarizing.

Probably. I still don't like how the engine handles combat animations, but everything else about it is still pretty fun. I kinda wish there was a super important city to capture, since taking Kyoto doesn't seem to mean much anymore. Capturing Jerusalem in Medieval II gave you Egyptian stacks out the ass and also left you vulnerable to the Mongols once they showed up, and Kyoto in Shogun 2 triggered Realms Divide. It's just fun having that "Push to Make Everything Go To Hell" button
