That's mostly due to planned obsolescence on the parts of Apple and Samsung, who deliberately make apps not work on older phones despite them supporting them fine spec-wise. I had a Samsung Galaxy S3 that couldn't support shit like Pokemon Go but other people in my family with worse Chinkware like Huawei could.
What version of Android are we on now? 9? I'm pretty sure at least version 5 still gets support. There's nothing hardware wise about old phones that makes them unable to support newer versions of android, it's why you can usually flash the OSes yourself.

The PSP was born within the PS2's life which explains the sheer number of PS1/PS2 (and other retro) games made into PSP ports. The Vita has still a pretty good library (certainly the best out of this gen) but it's nowhere as diverse as it used to be on PSP as a good amount of studios either shut down or stopped giving a sign of activity like BanPresto, a studio owned by Bamco, famous for publishing a lot of licensed anime games or changed their interests.

sd2vita and psvd which are both microsd adapters that fit inside the Vita (sd2vita is inserted inside the game cartridge slot and psvd is exclusively for OLED 3G models inside the 3G slot). But obviously you can only use them when you're hacking the vita (which is available for 3.65-3.68, the latest firmware 3.69 isnt hackable yet)
