Main thing IMOQ needs is something like the Skill Trigger so there's less mid-combat digging in the menus all the time. Though, the way skills work there, being tethered to equipment and not the character, you'd probably have to reset things whenever you upgrade. Between that, and I perhaps feeling they'd have to actually remake the game, that might be why Bamco cleared G.U. first/only for remaster, as it would be less work on their end.
As for Parasite Eve, I don't think you can really "remaster" a 3D PS1 era game without actually remaking it, since there's only so much even the best modelling from that era can be upscaled. At the same time though, given how often remakes these days turn out worse (sometimes far, far worse, than the originals), I get the feeling any wishing for a remake would be an utter monkey paw. I especially wouldn't trust modern Square's hand at it, or any other game they hold the rights to (such as Xenogears).

Odin Sphere Leifthrasir was an example of a good recent remake, albeit that one was both gameplay remake (in that that was all that was remade; script, art, and music left alone) and extended HD port in the same package, providing reason for both people that liked and didn't like the original PS2 style to look into it. But I suppose that's more a unique case since most remakes wind up being full remakes and don't bother to include the original with them. Also heard really good stuff about Tales of Destiny PS2 (2006, 2008 Director's Cut) and Narikiri Dungeon X (2010) as far as semi-modern remakes go, but they weren't deemed worth bringing west (Bamco seems to think that the west wouldn't want 2D sprited Tales at such a point), and both fan-translation efforts are torched, so I suppose it's a bit of a moot point unless one knows moon.

IIRC, aside from the fact that the RE4 team was making everything except RE4, the story goes that after RE0 "underperformed", Capcom made the decision that "'Survival horror' is dead", and finally gave them the go-ahead to make what is now RE4.

Well, back then, Capcom was infamous for being really scummy. First off, you had them basically pulling the rug out form under Clover Studio and treating them like shit every step of the way. Then, you also had the "Capcom Five" with P.N.03 rushed from the drawing board to release in 6 months time, Dead Phoenix cancelled out of nowhere, and none of the "popular" games remaining GC exclusive like Capcom originally promised (Most infamously of which was the PS2 edition of RE4 being announced less than a prior to it's GC release).

It's a love-hate relationship. Love, because Native Americans are one of the most historically "oppressed" groups of people in the country - evidenced by the fact that there's practically none of them left anymore. They've been a fantastic tool for white guilt, and for scamming collage loans since pretty much anybody who's even 1/900th Algonquin can call themselves a "native" and scam their way into a scholarship. They've also taken to conflating Native Americans with Mexicans, and using them as a wedge to try to push for looser (or no) immigration standards. The hippy dippy segment of their population also loves the idea of nativism and constantly use the noble savage iconography to promote their new-age pseudo-religious propaganda.
Yet natives for their part don't really give much of a fuck about SJWs. The few times they've actually tried to latch on to the left's momentum to try to get an issue of their concern addressed - they've been burned. Like the Keystone Pipeline protests that ended up being over-run with leftists who tried to pretend on camera that they were standing with the natives as good conscientious stewards of the Earth against corporate greed and pollution - but in reality were destroying the area with their trash and using the event as one big excuse to have a party, keeping the actual native protesters up all night, causing rifts between them and their neighbors - destroying what had been solid relationships they had built with them for decades, and lying to the media and acting like phenomenal retards - ensuring that anybody who might have been even slightly sympathetic to their cause are now driven away in thorough disgust.
And in the end, nobody stuck around to help the tribe out. They used them for their purposes in the culture war, and then discarded them in a fractured community with the rest of the trash pile they left behind. No, I can't speak for all - or even most natives - but it seems to me that they by and large just want to be left the fuck alone to get on with their normal lives in society at large or on what little plots of land they have left to run their casinos and tourist trade, the profits of which is generally shared with the tribe at large - pulling themselves up from their bootstraps rather than waiting on people to give them a handout - turning one of their greatest vices and the stereotypes about them into a productive and lucrative revenue stream - so they don't exactly mesh well with leftist oppression narratives anyhow

I remember something like that being the reason they couldn't use the name Aya in The Third Birthday and why they couldn't bring up the plot point about mitochondria, which is kinda crucial to the series.
