What are some actual games you'd suggest people play?

I always suggest the old gameboy Hamtaro games, Ham-Ham Unite and Heartbreak. They're relaxed cutesy adventure games and almost feel like point and clicks to me.

A Story About my Uncle too, it's a grappling hook based platformer which doesn't seem to happen very often. Short but good, really fun once you get used to the movement and can fling yourself across the levels.

Step outside your comfort zone and try out Hellsinker sometime, anon.

If you like or used to like Pokemon then I would really suggest Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. It's so much better than the actual Pokemon games.

Seconding this. And "so much better" cannot be understated - it's more like ten times better.

As for my own recommendation - Ninjatown for the DS.

PMD is great. It's on the lower end of complexity for roguelikes without falling into roguelite territory.

As for other roguelikes to shill, Caves of Qud is a damn good game that nobody really knows about.

Kid Icarus Uprising actually revived my love for vidya when I thought I was done with them. It’s one I recommend any time I get the chance though nobody usually actually goes and gives it a try.

Tetris would be the other one. I thought it was boring as a kid but played it again when I got a little older and now it’s one of the games I got the most time in.

what genre?

ee0494  No.15783175

Prey (2017)

If you liked the combat and character customization of Bioshock, but found Bioshock Infinite lacking, this is the sequel you've been waiting for. If you liked the exploration and problem solving of Deus Ex, but wished that the sequels had been smarter about how they tackled the problems of human augmentation, this game is what you're looking for. If you like first person exploration and puzzle/combat games in general, you should not miss this game. If you've ever thought about the scientific advancements that could be made with a harnessed version of John Carpenter's The Thing or the X Parasites from Metroid, DEFINITELY play this game. It's not a perfect game but it's definitely the best thing I've played in the last year and it should not have flown mostly under the radar as it did.

The weapon upgrade system confused me, and I didn't like the forced touch controls, so I stopped playing around level 5. Was it any good?

Katamari Damacy

So glad it's getting a port to everything. It's the comfiest game ever once you unlock the eternal levels and have time to just appreciate all the details in the game.

Tenchu 2, if the person i talk to appreciates that game then i would know that said person is worth talking to, if not then i just redirect them to the latest call of duty shitheap.

It s been quite a while since I played so I really don't remember how the weapon upgrade system works but I remember enjoying it but being mildly annoyed when I was trying to grind for top tier multi-player weapons. The controls never bothered me at all I adjusted in minutes and I loved them. Level 5 is pretty early in to the game you should absolutely go through it in its entirety it's one of the best games ever made. Seriously go fucking play it right now.

La Mulana 1 + 2. You aren't a real gamer if you can't go in completely blind and clear them under 20 hours a piece.

bbe343  No.15783304

Depends on the person, if it's someone who has played his fair share of games, would recommend Gothic 1 and 2, if it's someone who hasn't then would recommend Prince of Persia Sands of Time trilogy, if it's a girl, then I would recommend Kirby.

If I am in a JRPG thread, then I would recommend Grandia 1 and 2.

What was that weird japanese rpg maker game, called "bat" or something similar?

a1be14  No.15783394

>>15783267

I’m biased, but this. It’s also one of the very few and rare cases where the English localization was better than the original Japanese. I feel like he’ll eventually get used to the touch screen controls to, especially when you consider it’s a shooter and how messy they would be with a standard control scheme.

a74501  No.15783469

Furi

Fast paced 1vs1 boss rush game with tight controls and a godlike OST. For some reason forces you to slowly walk between boss fights though. Can be automated with a button press while you grab a coffee. Focuses a lot on timing dodges and parries, and parries are rewarded with high damage counterattacks. Almost all fights are a mixture of melee combat and bullet hell segments. It's also stylish as fuck.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Stealth based real time tactics. Throw rocks to turn guards around and sneak by without being seen, kill the from behind or just knock them out (has ingame achievements for not killing anyone among other fun stuff). It's squad based, with characters that play vastly different. I won't spoiler you on what they can do, all you need to know is that you can combo their abilities, either in real time or with a mechanic that allows you to queue up actions to be executed at the same time. Most sections feel like a puzzle, where you will stop and wonder how the fuck you can get to your target without being heard/seen. Make sure you don't leave footprints in the snow where someone might see them. Play on the highest difficulty, you will enjoy it.

Russian Roulette. It'll be the only game you'll ever need.

Rainworld is an exploration based platformer with a lot of unique mechanics that I haven't really seen in a lot of other games. Specifically the enemy AI will change its behavior based on how many of that enemy type the player kills/gets killed by. You can even befriend creatures by feeding them other enemies.

The game got slammed by Polygon for being too hard so if that isn't enough of a recommendation I dont know what is. Its being sold on humble for 5 bucks but it's probably on goodolddownloads for zero so whatever.
