Best megaman are 2-4
The modern megaman force you to jump/dash/fire which means pressing down like three or four buttons at once, continuously, over and over, trying to spam your fire as you platform, I don't like that.
I like the precision and simplicity of classic megaman. Are there other platformers like classic megaman?

X1 gives you the dash boots as a mandatory thing in Chill Penguin for you to use throughout the whole game anyway.
X2 was the most forgettable game of the whole series. Even X3 had more character to it.

Pretty much. The concept of playing as the bosses was half-assed and even by itself it doesn't sound interesting at all. The original ZX forms were a lot more versatile and it was fun to play with them the best being model H.
In ZXA you never used the biometals yourself but you copied other people using them.
My idea of having different characters using different biometals is to have 5 or so variety of movesets per character, it would be nice.

The original American-Japanese cartoon from 1994 is what I remember most, all the characters in it are great.
So I'd probably have to vote Megaman 1 as the best game, simply because it's what the cartoon is based on.
Megaman himself is best.
I can't pick any particular bosses, weapons, etc. I just like it whenever Megaman gets someone else's power.

why is mega man 9 so damn hard? And why are there people who genuinely don't understand that it's actually harder than all the classic MM games combined? It's it just kiddo's who fell for the "Nintendo hard" meme and think anything that is that resembles IWTBTG is acceptably game design? I've played Kaizo levels in Mega Man maker that are more forgiving then MM9. The only level that is even remotely fair is Gravity Man. I even finally broke down and started using save states just to tank through the game and it's still too damn frustrating to enjoy.

but I can beat MM1,2,&3 easily yet struggle to complete a single level (besides Gravity man) in MM9. The amount of damage you take is ridiculous, you die after 4 hits in most situations and enemies don't drop shit. Most the time your only checkpoints is after a meme mini boss that is 100% trial. I honestly find Mega Man Rom hacks easier then MM9.

although, most mega man games are, in fact, trial and error. You make your mistakes and observe until you learn the pattern. Or in the case of 5's power muscler, you slide past and hope for the best because that fucker never knows when he's going to do a short hop

>all the games are Tail and Error
I don't agree. Most of the games allow for any boss order rather easily. Killing most bosses with buster shot is not impossibly hard in most the classic games. While there are a few "Trial and Error" parts in the classic games like the lasers in Quickmans stage or MM2 Wily's Castle 4 boss its not really anything that is impossible to learn in a few attempts. Even the Yoku Block are not really trial and eror. It's not the same as the bullshit in MM9 where there is "gotcha deaths" all the time. But even when you learn the gimmick MM9 demands perfect execution and is way more unforgiving then other games. Farming health or weapon energy in any other classic game was never a big deal but the enemies in MM9 are more likely to damage you then drop a health pick up (or even a bolt). If farming bolts was easy I could see someone saying the shop makes MM9 more reasonable but considering how expensive everything is relative to the low drop rate it doesn't even have that going in its favor.

here are a few reasons why you're just being a disingenuous idiot:
1) most of the enemies take multiple hits to kill, which is not typical of mega man games.often 5 or more hit points
2) most enemies have a specific awkward/inconvenient weak spot that cannot be hit with a typical shot and you must time a hop just to hit them, so even if they are not hard they are slow to kill. (Octopuses in Splash Woman's stage)
3) Almost every jump is expected to be pixel perfect and perfectly timed.
4)Every room is designed like a meme level with gotcha traps
5) Yoku Block's are more unreasonable than any other mega man game.
6)Checkpoints are scarce and often after a Miniboss
7)There is always at least one award Kiazo trap right before the miniboss. (See Jewel men swing into spikes before the bolder boss)
8)Every enemy, even bosses has Invincibility frames which were only introduced after the introduction of the Mega Buster charge shot (you can spam lemons in MM1,2&3 for extra damage). This makes taking down most bosses without their weakness a chore (besides Splash woman and gravity man).
I will grant there are harder Mega Man games if you are to consider the poorly made MMX and Zero games. Granting Rockman and Forte is nitrous for being hard (because it was poorly designed) and it's not really considered canon. But you can't honestly tell me you think other Mega Man games in the classic series is harder than Mega Man 9. Remember that was my initial complaint. If you honestly think there is a harder game in the main series then please tell me and I will laugh at you for being terrible at Mega Man games.
4b9751 No.15787579
also:
the slow to kill enemies also is a big deal because it takes the iteration time to get back to the mini boss or one hit kill kaizo trap or Yoku Blocks even more frustrating. Plus the game is design to discourage farming so trying to re-spawn enemies for energy is a wast of time. This makes the Item shop even more of a core then a benefit because if you want to exploit the goodies then you need to do stupid boring suicide runs just to pick up the bolts around the levels. No other Mega Man game is designed like this one. Maybe if it was your first mega man game and you just assumed the games where meant to be a series of traps then I could understand not being bothered. But no other Mega man game is designed like 9. That also doesn't take into consideration how much damage you take in the game. Nothing does a single bar of health, ever hit takes at lest 1/4 or 1/5th of your health bar with means you need to make it through levels with little to no damage. Its a frustrating game.

>tfw my first exposure to internet fandom culture was an awesome group of people that wrote Megaman X fiction about a mercenary group based in the Mojave desert with a Shadowrun-esque map of a theoretical Balkanized future America between X4 and X5
>tfw one of the most prominent members/leaders was the secret final creation of Dr. Cossack, a parallel to X and Zero, and his name was Axel.
>his gimmick was that he could fly and transform through armor sets/forms rapidly to suit the situation
>this was in the early/mid 00s.
If they ever release X9 and go that route with Axl I'm going to lose my shit.

But suddenly model ZX has all of the Z skills from Zero and you can chain them all into a combos that deals enough damage to 2 shot the final boss.
It's like they genuinely were scared you'd be stuck on the final boss so they just allowed you to blender every fight with ZX now.

The "creators of the robots" were obviously the kids that submitted the designs in the IRL contest that Capcom pulled the designs from.

Megaman x corrupted looking amazing but will it ever be finished?
>>15788319
I know that, but I'm talking about the in cannon game universe. That also depends on if you consider Archie Comics canon (which I don't).
>>15787958
As for the connections from Classic to X. I stopped caring around the time the series clearly grew too edgy to ever fit with the classic aesthetic. The first few games still were tame enough to be plausible but it was round X4 where it started to jumped the shark. I also can't be bothered to try to connect Legends in with X or the Classic series.

>DWN. means it was designed by Dr. Wily
It really doesn't. The MM3 robots were joint-created by Light and Wily, and the MM4 robots were made by Cossack, yet all of them have the DWN designation. So do the MM11 robots, despite clearly being simply stolen and reprogrammed by Wily.

I still don't think MMXC is real, until a playable demo comes out it is nothing but a very well animated fan video as far as I'm concerned.

D = Doctor
* = First Name
N = Number
DLN = Doctor Light
DWN = Doctor Wily
Given if it's retarded and incorrect It's not my mistake. It's more likey the game creators can't keep their shit straight.

>DCN (Dr. Cossack Number)
DCN-025 Bright Man
DCN-026 Toad Man

I'm not arguing that. I never meant to argue that it wasn't supposed to mean Dr. Wily Number, just that it effectively didn't, because the Mega Man devs never bothered to keep to that definition.

its also
>The Robot Masters from Mega Man 4 were created by Dr. Cossack, but are listed as part of the DWN series because Wily remodeled them. They are listed under a DCN (Doctor Cossack Number) serial number in the Mega Man Megamix manga.
>The Robot Masters from Mega Man 4 were created by Dr. Cossack, but are listed as part of the DWN series because Wily remodeled them, making them his own robots.[6] They are listed under a DCN (Doctor Cossack Numbers) serial number in the Mega Man Megamix manga, as they are still Cossack's robots.
>In early versions of the manga Mega Man Megamix, these robots are known as DRWN series (Doctor Right and Wily Numbers). In the Archie comic, Ra Moon serves as the initial creator of these Robot Masters, who are based on the designs of Dr. Wily and Dr. Light instead of being built by them, the exception being Shadow Man who was found in the ruins and reactivated. However, it was stated that Wily redesigned Shadow Man before having Ra Moon restore him, so his upgraded form may also have been conceived by both doctors

DLN and DWN is supposed to mean Dr. Light and Dr. Wily Numbers
03fe90 No.15788710
>>15788704
Supposed and actual are two different things, though. All I'm saying is that you can't use the DWN designation as an indicator of Wily creating the robots, because it's used for lots of robots that Wily didn't create. Also, I fail to see how AU spin-off comics have any bearing on the official canon of the games.

The Mega Man Megamix manga was made by Capcom, not Archie Comics and the Robot Numbers is referenced in-game and in the Mega Man & Bass CD Database. But I guess you have a point regarding the Robot No.not essentially indicating the original creator. It seems the system of labeling the robot number came with MM5 and the "DWN." robots. Before that, they were all just labeled as NO.00-32.

I have a question regarding Mega Man ZX:
Model ZX is supposed to be a fusion of Model X (Mega Man X) and Model Z (Zero), right? If so, then why does the form just look like Zero instead of an actual combination?

Out-of-universe, it's probably to draw in the fans of the MMZ series by assuring them that this new series is similar to that one. Like what was done with X's design way back when the MMX series started.
In-universe it's probably because the user is mostly accessing the power of Model Z using Model X as a base. But now that you mention it, for some reason, the X fusion forms look more like the characters they are based on than the other models used by themselves. Like how Model Z doesn't get a helmet, but gets shades instead, something Zero has never worn.
The ZX form does have some very subtle nods to X and Model X, though. Some of the secondary colors are taken from Model X and the design of the helmet looks like a fusion between MMZ Zero and Copy X's helmets.
