Remember when every game was revealed with some version of that Two Steps from Hell trash or later 'I'm only human'?

When did it end? it kept going long after it became parody and it seems like the trend is leaning back towards "slow rendition on piano of a pop song zoomers are too young to remember with a girl soft talking the lyrics".

What defines the trends of shitty 'muh feels tho' trailers? and is Gears of War entirely to blame?

I felt like I was having a stroke when I realized that a trailer for one of the recent forgettable pirate themed games had fucking Crazy by Seal, but in that fucking ridiculous soft girl singing style. My mind just couldn't accept it. That was definitely the point I could no longer stomach this absolute bullshit trend.

I wouldn't say GoW is to blame for that, since they were the first to do it, and it was a pretty good trailer for it imo. Not to mention the song was the original being played, rather then some sort of shitty cover. Also, GoW did it and then nobody did it afterwards for a while, until AC:Unity came out with Lorde, the softest girl singer of them all, did a cover of everybody wants to rule the world.

But pop musicians have been taking songs with and subtext but with a bright and cheery sheen, and turning them into dull droning ballads. Just look at what Jordan Knight did to Prince's "Never take the place of your Man" for proof that this sort of shit has been going on for ages now.

I think it falls back to the issue of faux-maturity from a lot of studios and of course, wanting to be more like movies. Back your trailer with some soft spoken version of a pop song and maybe action happening (but in slow motion!) and everyone will think you're really clever and mature even though it's a video game
