WHAT IS HALO CUSTOM EDITION?
HCE (Not to be confused with the PC version of Combat evolved, which is typically called HPC) is a stand alone version of Halo PC that supports custom content. Released by Gearbox, HCE boasts not only custom multiplayer content but singleplayer.
SETTING UP
Download either link below, keep in mind the torrent lacks maps and shit like chimera, eax sound enabled and other things. HAC2 is already packaged with both versions

DDL SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
To reduce file size I compressed the maps folder before packaging everything in the easy to digest 5 gig download. Before running HCE make sure you extract the maps.7z folder. just right click the archive and hit "extract here" as it's already in a maps folder and running "extract to 'maps'" would create a maps within a maps folder and Halo will obviously fail to run.
=FIXES, IMPROVEMENTS, AND ENHANCERS=
Disabling mouse acceleration is the only thing not packed into either downloads. If your text box in game is blank (does not show All- or Team-) nor can you see any kill text; refer to the chat fix link, or enable custom chat by enabling console and typing "custom_chat 1". This need only be run once to turn on forever. Torrent version lacks EAX sound and chimera.

SETTING FOV
When in game hit F6 and adjust by moving your mouse. Hit F6 again to set it
OR
Open console and type "fov #", with # being the desired FoV
HOW/WHEN TO CONNECT
Go to multiplayer and join via direct connect.

HPC/HCE's netcode is shit due to microsoft demanding gearbox make it compatible with 56k modems (in 2004), to hit people, even when your latency is in the 100s, aim slightly ahead of them where your reticule is no longer red. you'll git gud this way.
If you can't see the MOD when you join the server, you have the text bug, refer to the fix

HAC2 is caching all the maps, there is a fair bit. give it a few minutes, after that subsequent boot ups will work fine. also make sure you unpacked the maps folder and do it properly

One issue you goys might run into, the resolution patch just flat out does not work on Windows 10. It only goes up to a max of 1600x900. It works fine on other versions of windows, but on 10 you have to set it manually in the launch options.

even better, firefight fissurefall, the best. the broken hitboxes on the bugs is pretty annoying tho, makes the standard projectile autoaim work againt you.
